Ummm, what? Isn't the M16-A3 basically an AR-15 platform semi auto for military use but in essence the same as the AR-15 semi autos you can buy at your local gun shop?

Could you point out the difference?

No one said that silencers were readily available, you can get them but there is a waiting period.

Well I've seen a lot of people expressing the wish that they "had been there" in so very many discussions on forums so it kinda sounds like an addiction.

But this is humour, it's supposed to be a bit exaggerated.

Sadly this wasn't my first experience with open carry in awkward places.

Last year I was at the mall in "Kids Place". It's a clothing store for kids. My daughter was 7 at the time. We were in looking for new PJ's for my kids. In comes some some early 20's something kid with a pistol strapped to his hip. My daughter saw that and froze. She grabs me and whispers "Daddy...he has a gun. Is he going to shoot us?" To which I have to respond "No dear, he's not". To which her response was "Then why does he have one?"

Me...uh.....yeah. No good answer to give a 7 year old there that will make any sense.

I dont really care if people around me open carry. Not threatened. I was at 5 guys recently to grab a burger and 2 different people in the establishment were open carrying. Sitting down peacefully eating and not bothering anybody. Family with some kids was sitting at the table near one carrying guy and nobody was bothered.

I live in NH and you dont need a license to open carry, just a state ID. Hell, we used to need a license to conceal carry. Just wait 3 days after you submit the application while the police dept does a background check and then you pay your $10 and you are all set. But now we dont even need a license anymore to conceal carry. The state did away with that requirement. We are not in some backwoods part of the state. We are about 40 minutes from Boston in Southern NH.

I'm a firm believer in the saying: an armed society is a polite society.

Oh come on, at least no one was doing something absolutely horrid like breastfeeding their kid in public. Now that is what needs focus because if a child ever saw a nipple it would scar them for life...

I can actually sympathize with you as a father and feel the pain of having to comfort your daughter who is clearly scared. Not much you can do either when you have your kid with you, can't go confront the guy and ask him to put it away no matter how much you want to.

Your ideas show how fucked up your society has gotten.... You can carry your AR-15 platform weapon, four mags in your harness, full gear including a vest and kevlar helmet and walk around with that even in some airports and it's no worries... But you try to feed your fucking infant and you're crossing the line, imagine if kids saw a nipple, it would scar them for life...

But we don't get it, cuz 2A and 'murica is what you tell yourselves. In reality, we DO get it... You are completely insane.

Yeah part of the blame is on me. I grew up in a house with guns. Hell for my 5th (yes 5th) birthday I got a .22 bolt action rifle from my Grandpa. I was shooting pistols at the age of 6. Using shotguns by 8. It's just how I was raised. I now live in a large city. Have zero places or needs to hunt. And just don't keep guns around in the house. It's something that I've put on the list next summer when going back and spending time with my parents. Grandpa and I need to take the kids out and at least *expose* them to firearms.

I think every person should at least at a minimum fire a couple different types of firearms under controlled environments to at least understand and appreciate (or appropriately respect) them. Basic firearm awareness and safety should be a basic skill taught to understand how easy it is to accidentally discharge one.

Since when is the M16-A3 or M16-A4 full auto?

AR-15 is a misnomer, that is the platform that the M16 is based on and the M16-A3 is simply a semi automatic version of the M16 that is in no way different than the civilian versions based on the same platform.
