There was nothing in my post that aligned myself with racists, proudly or otherwise. This, again, is your cliche liberal attitude that you can't deal with anything that falls outside of your programming. Don't agree 100% with my views on what constitutes racism? You must be a racist. Don't agree with my position on open boarders? You're a xenophobe. and on and on it goes. Again, this is why more and more non libs aren't bothering with you guys anymore. People like you can't be reasoned with.
Now, as to your response re Jussie...
You should distrust CPD. For that matter, any sane person should distrust ALL of Chicago / Cook County government. Overt corruption is their stock and trade.
I'm all for seeing people trying to buy justice or using their influence or their friends to get the justice they think they deserve. Jussie got off too easy and I think that that was a miscarriage of justice brought about by him knowing the right people.
See my correction, in bold, below.
Nobody should accept something as a hate crime sight unseen. A healthy skepticism is a mark of intellectual and emotional maturity. We also have this little thing that people are innocent until proven guilty. That concept separates the US from many countries in the world. It's a good thing, too.
My skepticism about Jussie's story had NOTHING to do with race, lack of empathy, or a lack of desire to side with the victim. His story rang hollow from the start with his ridiculous claim that his alleged assailants stated something to the effect of 'this is MAGA country'. Simply put, Chicago isn't 'MAGA country' - period. Also, I don't recall any of the MAGA hat wearing types use that particular phrase. I would also tend to doubt that the MAGA hat types would've worn their hats during such an attack. Holding onto his sub was also a dead giveaway.
Alas, I've attempted, yet again, to pull you off of your lib programming. So sorry, dear boy. You have my permission to go bet a puppy to calm you down.
So you're proud to be aligned with racists. Cool.
Regarding Jussie's situation, I have commented upon this. I don't trust the CPD. Additionally, I think Jussie seems to have problems. Do I care that he seems to have paid some small price for his alleged deeds? Not really. Maybe if he paid a bigger price and that meant that class might stop influencing how the justice system affects people then I'd be interested in that. But money buys justice and water is wet. Jussie is hardly powerful and while his actions might have deleterious effects for real victims of hate crimes, I doubt that anyone who doubted his story was really going to believe any hate crime sight-unseen. I'll continue to err on the side of victims, which I said in this thread a long while back. Defaulting to empathy/sympathy doesn't cost me anything and leads to better outcomes long-term.
