Actually what they said was “While we haven’t found any video documenting the alleged attack, there is no evidence to say that this is a hoax.”

Also, at the very least we now know that his original story about it being 2 white males was wrong. Yet to see if it was a lie, but, the more we get the less it seems he was telling the truth. At least, if the leaks about him modifying his phone records ect. This sucks.

Lol this whole time everyone is talking about white elitists in maga hats. little ol celebrity apparently couldn't discern that they were in fact black....

Absolutely nothing at all fishy about this. Seems totally legit.

Why did he originally say the attackers were white. I think the headline of your article is deeply flawed.

“This is MAGA country”

What? This incident is still not making sense.

Pure speculation, but, this guy either was beat up by these two for some other reason, and he thought he could play it as a racist thing. Or, it was all staged for publicity for himself or a cause.

But, I would imagine if it were the 2nd, that these two would not want to take the full fall for this guy and will confess.

I would think that those would be the two most likely scenarios. Here’s a lot of info wrapped up in one current article.

Well if you're not trying to change his mind, then what are you trying to do by slamming him?

Passing the time? Distraction from something in the real world (very much including, but not limited to, boredom)?

Does anyone engage in forum arguments to change minds?

I think for me much of it is clarifying my own thoughts to myself, mixed in with the occasional emotion-driven response to comments that seem especially irrational or deliberately ignorant.

Besides, the changing of minds is unlikely to ever be sudden revelation or a result of a few discussions. But who knows what goes into the mix of gradual change over many years of interactions with others?

In the US the orthodox are about 6% of all Jews.

Eh, a little more than that, and you're forgetting about the Conservative denomination. It matters for anyone taking Judaism a little more seriously. Anyone who hasn't gone through the conversion process or didn't have a mother who was Jewish doesn't have a Jewish soul.

Unless I'm missing something Smollett said they were wearing masks.

As he was getting his food, he texted his manager, Brandon Z. Moore, who he thought was still in Australia, and asked him to call him. While Moore was on the phone, Smollett said he was crossing the intersection and heard someone shout "Empire" and then, "F—ot Empire n—er." He explained that he then turned around and asked, "What the f— did you just say to me?" He saw the attacker, he said, who was wearing a mask over his face. The attacker then said, "This MAGA country, n—er." The attacker, Smollett said, then punched him in the face.
Also ... Trump does have black supporters....

I don't think he said they were white or that they had MAGA hats. I believe that was "reported" stuff rather than actual stuff. Could be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time.

He said during some sort of interview this.

Smollett, 36, who is gay, has said his attackers were white and that his story would not have been doubted if an attacker had been "a Muslim, or a Mexican, or someone black".

Some speculation here. The actor is known to be Jewish, and Gay. I can think of more than just Nazis who'd attack him over either of those. Nazis aren't the only people, or bad people, in America.

OTOH, what if the police simply arrested the wrong people? It's still early, maybe they'll be let go.

Here is something else interesting. during another interview, he said he punched one of the guys back.

"He said 'This MAGA country n****r' and he punched me in the face so I punched his a** back."

So, was one of the guys injured? If not, then you have another part of the story that is wrong. That can't be anything other than a lie at that point.

JS also said attackers were wearing ski masks. If I got blindsided by men in ski masks calling me fa**ot and shouting MAGA I might conclude they were white. I know one thing a lot of Africans have the same attitudes against gay people as conservatives here.

There were a group of conservative politicians living on on C-street in DC who colluded with the Ugandan government to draft anti-gay legislation which in some cases called for capital punishment.

Don't think we are near the end of this case.

My point is, generally, that this is a very common human behavior. We are compelled to do it. We might actually think it's important or morally correct to do it. That's what started my questioning of @darkswordsman17 . When I pontificated about it, he responded by defending his behavior and suggesting I join him in the same all in the same post where he says he didn't even understand the point I was trying to make.

So it's clearly important human behavior which we are driven to engage in, draw support from others in, and defend when challenged about. But it doesn't seem to change anything about anyone else's point of view.

So it's a puzzle. A human puzzle. Why are we so compelled without even knowing why? I have my ideas, but I'm not sure they're right. But I'm glad you answered. I agree with you. We do it for ourselves. It helps us organize our own experience in a particular way.

But when you can see that, you have the opportunity to ask yourself -- why this way? What does that mean? What if I did things differently?

Why would you conclude they were white, when you got a good look at them when you allegedly punched one of them in the face?

They were wearing masks. Knowing Trump's calls for physical violence and his years of attacking people of color, being one myself I might conclude that. 2 blacks from Nigeria would be my last guess.

We don't have copies of the police report so we don't what he said once he had time to calm down.

The police are investigating two suspects with probable cause that they were involved. Enough probable cause that they were able to obtain search warrants. Another detail put out by the police is that these brothers worked on Empire in some capacity. I'm still waiting for the conclusion, but I think that some of you gleefully carrying on that this was definitely a hoax will have some crow to eat. This is starting to look quite plausible as a homophobic attack. Smollett did make the incorrect assumption that they were white, but basically everyone did that.
