The difference between Apple and Microsoft is Apple delivers on its promises. On the other hand, Microsoft has yet to release Xbox Live for Mobile among other products they had announced but not released.

If you look closely at the Courier videos, the people in it aren't really even touching anything. The Courier is good IN CONCEPT. I don't think they have an actual product though nor will they have one for awhile.

Live is coming with Windows Phone 7.... you expect them to release a new gaming service for a platform that doesn't exist yet? Are you retarded?

Actually what would be really cool is if a company like "open moko" made an ipad killer. Fully open source hardware with open source software. Now that would be cool.

Microsoft has good concepts, like the natal video game console.

How's that working out anyway?

They showed it in an E3 maybe 2 or 3 years ago. Xbox Live for Mobile. This was totally before Windows Phone 7. Look who's the idiot now.

That's actually not a bad design...it folds so it's more portable, and by default when folded it's it's own screen protector. Not bad...not bad at all!

Now, if we can get it to run Android :)

If I don't hear good positive Courier news, I might have to settle on the Notion Ink "Adam" whenever they release it. That thing just seems awesome. The Combo screen is awesome, because I'd really love a good eReader that also functioned as a full tablet. It being Android is even more awesome. I don't know if the Adam's dual display tech actually uses eInk, but it does a damn good job of impersonating it if it does not, and they make claims of insane battery life in that mode.

if it runs fast and crisp like the ipad, it's a sell for me.

5 years from now, people will not recognize their computers. Things are going to go thin client. It's when, not if.

I hear apple is working on a follow-up to the ipad that's going to be smaller, more portable, take pictures, and make phone calls.

Microsoft fundamentally does not know how to lead. Apple does.

This product seems interesting from a technological POV, but honestly I can't see myself using any of those features.

I'm still a staunch PC guy but I'm not blind, I agree. They have better UIs, better design teams, better ideas in general. MS has it's moments but it certainly does a lot of cherry picking good ideas that others have developed elsewhere and implements them slightly worse. Although having said this I love Win7 and don't have any issues with Vista either.

Ultimately I see it this way:

MS get's it 70% right the 4th or 5th time. MS allows lots of user controll and exposes more of the base computing element to the user. Apple get's it 95% right the first time but charges you 200% more than the product is worth. You are buying the Apple mystique a lot of the time. Apple also puts so many layers of paint between you and the underlying system that you might as well forget you are using a piece of hardware.
