If DiMaggio is HA's father, then it makes sense as to why HA was allowed to go on vacations with him. HA's mother knew of the paternity, and agreed to some kind of secret arrangement for him to spend time with HA.

It certainly appears the DiMaggio can't be Ethan's father, and if the timing of meeting him is really true, then he's not Hannah's either.
