I'm starting to regret my decision to start the career on hard, because my main priority right now is unlocking all the songs for play. I haven't failed a song yet through the first 4 sets, so hopefully I won't have too much trouble towards the end. However, when you get fairly proficient on hard difficulty like I have, medium difficulty is incredibly boring to play.

Have they fixed the website yet to where you can link your stats? And does anyone know yet if it will automatically link your current stats that you've done before linking to the website?

If you put in the cheat code to unlock all songs in quickplay they will show that you bought them in your career and give you the "bought all songs achievement"

Then you can save your money to unlock other stuff.

I may do this after I've unlocked all the regular songs on my own. Will the songs stay after inputting the cheat code? I know in GH2 on the 360, they just stayed unlocked until you turned the game off....once you turned it back on, you had to input the code again.

I'm pretty sure they stayed. I'll check tonight. I know there is a cheat code interface where you enter the code once then never have to enter it again. I unlocked precision and performance mode(dunno what they do), hyperspeed, and the songs. It looks like there should be like 5 more cheat codes somewhere.

I'm pretty sure it'll be quite awhile before I'll unlock everything. I'm barely managed a 56% on Kaiser Chiefs - Ruby last night on medium. Still it's a ton of fun.

Trying to play with jus ta wiimote is pretty terrible. I think they just arbitrarily assigned buttons to strings. B, Up, A, 1, 2.

I was just bored and checking out the multiplayer options. It's seems like it's pretty much impossible to find an extra guitar for the Wii without getting the game too.

I'm just hoping more people buy the Wii version because as of last night I couldn't find a single person to play with using Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

That's the way it was when GH2 came out on the 360 earlier this year. I lucked out and found just a guitar at Target one night. A lot of people were just buying another completely set, and selling the extra copy of the game they ended up with.

I thought about just buying a second set but who would want to buy a game without a guitar?

Anyone know if you get the PS3 version of 3, can it play the PS2 versions of 1&2 with the guitar that comes with 3?

No, it cannot.

"The Guitar Hero 3 Les Paul also works with everything and also can't be used to activate the Rock Band special effects. We tried it on Rock Band and played through roughly 10 songs without any hitches. Of note here is that the Guitar Hero 3 PS3 controller can't be used with Guitar Hero 2, even with the disc put into a PS3 that should make it backwards compatible."

Wait...

You can't unlock the Co-op songs by playing career online? Are you kidding me? I don't know anyone else who has a guitar. And even if they did, it would be retarded for them to come over and play an entire career with me.

There are cheat codes that will work, AFAIK.

Also, an update on the "Invalid Slot Token" error that's preventing people from linking. Now posted on the page is this:
Guitar Hero III is a massively popular game and there are a ton of people online. So many people have been rocking out that the account linking process is experiencing some delays. If you are unable to link your account, keep playing and try again later.

The same (Along with the "Invalid Slot Token" message) pops up when I try to enter a code.

Holy crap, I just hit a HUGE black in playing hard career on set 7 (or maybe it's 8?). There is one song I can't even get past 9% on, and the other gets freaking crazy about 65% in. Hell, it took me about 7 or 8 tries to get past the Slash battle. I went ahead and started a medium career and 100%'d 2 out of the first 3 songs.

I cleared it on Medium, 4 and 5 starring everything.. but man, I tried Hard and get my ass kicked. Any tips on that orange fret? It's like.. my hands don't want to work.

When I switched from Medium to Hard back in GH2, it was just practice. I'm to the point now where I don't have to think about it, I can move my hand around without always having to make contact with something, and be fine. My problem now is that the notes come too fast and my fingers can't keep up.

Yea, I asked my friend about it and she said I'll get used to it eventually.. but I'm thinking about it and its mind boggling to even think that I'll get used to it.

In my opinion, tier 8 nearly doubled in difficulty from tier 7. My current roadblocks are Metallica's "One" (on Hard) and the Dead Kennedys' "Holiday in Cambodia" (on Expert).

The transition from medium to hard is big w/ that extra fret but what you will find is that you will be positioning your hand w/ pinky on the orange over time because its easier to reach up to green with your index than reach to orange with pinky. Plus, your hand will naturally shift down the fret when you get better.

Tier 8 is also kicking my ass on hard. 2 more songs!! i guess i'll eventually get them. Getting 90% through One pissed me off though 🙂

Anyone get online matchmaking to work? Everytime I try to join a game it does Find Servers... then Joining game... then it just times out and says cannot connect. However, if I invite a friend into my own custom game it works fine and vice versa. GH.com neeeds better servers too

I tried to join a game three times and they all got disconnected.

When I created my own match, someone else joined within five seconds and we played lag-free. This worked both times I tried it.

I didn't fail any songs on Hard until the 7th tier. I can't even get 16% into anything in the tier, it's really pissing me off. I always seem to overstrum when the song gets too fast for me.

ugh..... still have the invalid token message 🙁

Raining Blood and One are kicking my ass on Hard.... those are the first 2 songs I've failed....

I've beat the game on Hard, got 5 stars on almost all except the 8th tier. I managed Dragonforce on hard, but I don't think I'll be passing expert anytime in the next year.

I just played my first online match. I'm glad that someone other than me bought the Wii version. Took about 2-3 times to find someone. (I lost) (badly)

Raining Blood Kicked my arse hard. (on easy 🙁) Dragonforce wasn't too bad at first then it destroyed me.
