guitarhero.com looks to be down right now. Hopefully they're fixing the invalid slot token problem.

Yay, I finally got to do Muse's Knights of Cydonia last night :D.

I also got to experience true sadness as I missed the 2nd to last note on a song... on a song where up until that point I had 100% notes hit :(.

I'm a noob that plays on Easy . I own GH2 but I never really played it and never really cared for GH to begin with... I still prefer DDR over it :p. Although, I seem to be 4 or 5 star'ing just about every song I play regardless of its level (as in how far down on the list it is), so maybe I should do some practices in medium and start trying that once I beat the game on easy!

My biggest problem is that I cannot activate star power for the life of me. It becomes a real test of power to try to activate it using the back button while playing... you gotta be able to do it fast and still be able to hit the strum bar to get the notes! I mean, I've done the whip plenty of times and it's only ever worked once :(.

I usually have to sacrifice a note to activate it but I'm slowly getting better.

Well I suck but I'm getting better. I got gh2 a couple months ago and could only do easy. It took me awhile to 5 star everything on medium. With GH3 i just 5 starred most of medium the first time I played it. Well not raining blood...I gotta work on that tonight. THen on to hard to see how far I get before I give up.

On some of my "best" songs, I didn't even use star power, because I could never find an opening like that. It's easy when there's a little pause (or a long one) or you can find a nice hold note to reach down. It gets a bit easier when you learn the distance between the strum bar and the back button. I just wish I could get the stupid tilting down so I wouldn't have to.

If you're having that much trouble getting Star Power to activate I'd say you've got a bad guitar. I've never had a problem activating star power unless I was leaning really far back. There's no trick to activating it.

edit: This is using the 360 Xplorer and the PS2 guitars.

I've never been able to do it... even using the xplorer. Well, except that one time as I mentioned earlier. I've had my brother use my guitars (except the new one) and he's had no problems with them.

It's about friggin' time!

cool I hope mine finally works when I get home.

For those interested if past stats will be uploaded, it seems to be working. My 360 is not on right now and my career stats are uploading at a rate of about 1 song per every 5 minutes. It's slow as heck.

I'm on the "Devil Went Down to Georgia" on Hard in the game, but it only shows I'm ~70% through right now. Every few minutes I refresh and another song shows up. My Expert stats have yet to start showing up. They must be updating a lot of people at once instead of doing it a few at a time.

I'm using the same guitars I got with GH2 on GH3, and I find that activating star power has been made a bit easier on GH3. I completely SUCK at activating it though. I have no problem tilting the guitar and getting it to activate, my problem is that when I do that, I always miss notes. My mind has to stay on one thing at a time, and when I even start to think about something else, like activating the star power, my mind goes off what notes are coming, and I mess up all the time. I'm so ADD it's not even funny :).

I actually enjoy the battle mode with the things you can do to hinder the other player, but I think in the next one they should make it to where 2 people could be playing on the guitars, and two other people with controllers can choose when to activate the hindrance for their player. It's really, really hard to see what battle thing you have AND keep an eye on the other player to unleash it at the right time while you're trying to play yourself. Hell, when I'm playing, I don't even realize there's other graphics moving around on the screen, and they want me to watch the other guys notes?

Mine still is not working :( but that's okay because I'm exchanging it tonight for a new copy as my guitar is not working right. I suspect that I will get a new code then.

Achievements and an online co-op are the differences to my knowledge. I'm not sure if the DLC will be any different.

I think it can also depend on which you think will have more people. To be honest, I think I saw more 360 versions sell than PS3 in my area and I don't know if that's relative to all, but 360, Wii and PS2 versions definitely looked like they were selling more than the PS3. I know Circuit City and Target were both sold out of the 360 bundle but the PS3 bundle was so plentiful it took multiple shelves :p.

I think it depends on what the majority of your friends will be playing it on, so you can play some co-op online. Achievements are a plus, too, if you like to shoot for some of the goals. I know you were a PS3 owner first, so achievements may not do it for you.

There are jokes to be made about the Achievements in this particular game not swaying anyone, but I'm not feeling terribly creative.

Right when you walked in Best Buy had a huge pile of 360, a bunch of PS2 and behind the PS2 boxes there was the Wii version. I don't remember seeing a pile of PS3 but I wasn't looking for them either. 360 would probably be the better choice right now.

I was looking for the Wii Version which I only found because I decided to see if they had any cheap wireless keyboards which were in the back. As I was leaving I passed the PS2 pile. They either sold a bunch of them already or didn't stock that many of them in the first place because there weren't many there.

I don't even understand what they were thinking with these achievements. They are so bad.

How so? They're about what I expected. Beating the game on each difficulty, beat dragonforce on expert, play coop games, etc...

- Beat it on hard or expert with a standard controller

- 100% every song on expert

- There's like 3 where you have to win 15 online ranked matches in a row for each achievement

- Beat career on lefty flip.......ok that's not hard but also not fun.

I think there was other dumb ones but I'm not at home right now to check.

I cleared it on Medium, 4 and 5 starring everything.. but man, I tried Hard and get my ass kicked. Any tips on that orange fret? It's like.. my hands don't want to work.

When I switched from Medium to Hard back in GH2, it was just practice. I'm to the point now where I don't have to think about it, I can move my hand around without always having to make contact with something, and be fine. My problem now is that the notes come too fast and my fingers can't keep up.

Yea, I asked my friend about it and she said I'll get used to it eventually.. but I'm thinking about it and its mind boggling to even think that I'll get used to it.

I'm told it's easier to have your fingers on the "bottom" four frets not including the green one, because it's easier for your pointer finger to reach for the green one than for your pinky the orange.

That's a lot of retraining for me though.
