Wow. I just ordered it and I hope I don't get these same problems. I had to return GH2 3 separate times and eventually gave up because I kept getting defective ones. Why can't they just produce something that works? Don't these assholes know what QA is???

Kev, it wasnt really smart of them to have a detachable neck. Hopefully you'll be all good. I'm just using my GH2 guitar which doesn't have any issues... yet. I can see Through the Fire and Flames busting at least one guitar.

Make sure if you're going to Wal Mart to buy the game you get the right box. Me and my friends bought 4 of them last night and on our way out we noticed it had a picture of the X-Plorer controller, so I opened one up real quick in the store and sure enough it has the GH2 guitar. My Wal Mart didn't even have the wireless bundle in stock so we had to hurry over to Gamestop to get the right package.

OC, I can't believe that they're doing that... I dont believe anywhere else is selling it with the wired guitar.

What's with the location change thing? Why is this such a big issue? I entered my state and country and it lists me correctly. What exactly is the bug?

I know, I was completely confused when I opened the box because I had heard nothing about that SKU before that. From what I've read online it is a Wal Mart Exclusive bundle.

When I signed up, I put in my info and it lists me as being in New York. (I'm not from NY)

Yeah, I was so confused when I saw the Xplorer guitar on the box. I read the box and it said the xplorer controller was included, so I just went home... returned it the next day and went to Circuit City and Target. Both stores were out. EB Games had some left though and I was able to pick it up.

So far I've had 0 problems with the frets on the guitar not activating properly or whatever. Although I forgot to turn Game Mode on my Samsung DLP so I may've been off sometimes .

Well, I lucked out and actually was able to talk my wife into getting GH3 even though I just bought a PS3 3 days ago. So far it's pretty awesome, no spectacular changes or anything. I decided to start my career on hard, and have done pretty well so far. I love the song list so far. "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" isn't one of my favorite songs, but it sure is fun as hell to play.

EDIT: I should just add that I bought the game only, as I already have two wired guitars that I got with GH2. Due to my new living room arrangement, the wires are much less of a problem now than they were before.

EDIT2: I was just checking out some of the achievements, and I'm disappointed that they are worse than on GH2. A lot of those will be impossible for me to strive for :(. I don't care about the points, before someone judges me, I just like to have goals, especially in a game like this.

I agree, many of them are pretty terrible.

"Complete Career Lefty and Righty."
"Play through a career on the Hard or Expert difficulty using a standard controller."

I would have to play 42 friggin' songs with a screwed up control method? Whoever thought these up needs to be hit on the head with a tack hammer.

EDIT: Oh, for reference, here's the list of achievements.

I remember seeing those on the early release of the achievements and thinking "you gotta be kidding me", just HOPING that they weren't legit... Specially that one where you've gotta beat the game with a normal controller... Ugh. Stupid stupid.

All right, for the most part I'm happy, but I've got some issues so let's cram them all into one rant:

1. Has anyone else started playing co-op career using the Les Paul as lead guitar and the old Xplorer as bass?

Three times over the course of eight songs the Xplorer controller simply stopped responding. Thankfully, it only seems to happen while navigating the menus and not in the middle of a song. The quadrant is still lit on up the rings of light on both the controller and the console, but no buttons, including the Xbox Guide button will register.

It was solved each time by unplugging & reinserting the USB cable. I've never had a single issue with the Xplorer in GH2 so I'm thinking it's another GH3 bug. Hopefully, this will be fixed through a software patch.

2. I take back what I said about the Les Paul being dreamy. The tilt that triggers the star power is WAY too sensitive. More than once I've accidentally triggered star power when it was not intended. This is particularly frustrating now that I've gotten into the much harder songs where I need to save it for a particular sequence to survive.

3. No matter how much I try to calibrate the whammy bar in the option menu, it still feels like there is too much of a dead zone resting position. I really have to work it over to get a reaction out of the whammy bar, which usually results in me accidentally triggering the way-too-sensitive tilt sensor. :p
_____

Anyone else experience these or am I alone?

Oh, and at the moment the official forums are down. There were an awful lot of people on there complaining about the account linkup not working. Coincidence?

I dunno my location got somehow changed from Phoenix to NYC and I can't change it back. Nevermind that though I can't even freaking link my game. I already beat it on medium so I hope i don't gotta do it all over again when I get it linked. Hopefully it'll just sync up all my scores.

I bought a wireless guitar bundle from circuit city for the X360. Got it home and tried to sync. The guitar wouldn't search for the xbox. It just kept flashing the 4 lights at once.

The most irritating thing here is that Activision's customer service is closed. They should have been open today. It wasn't my idea to release a game on sunday.

Ended up dragging it back to circuit city for an exchange. This one locked on to a signal just fine. As an aside, the two boxes were packed completely differently with different versions of the users guide. Could be one assembly line goofed up the controllers.

Lou is freaking tough on hard! I ran through hard with only fails on number of the beast and one, twice and once respectively, and I'm on the sixth set on expert without losing any and I still can't beat Lou on hard.

Looks like I'm taking mine back to Toys R Us and exchanging for another one. Stupid detachable neck.
