movie was def. entertaining, but had some real plot holes and random stuff thrown in that maybe made more sense to fans of the series

7.5\10

Yep, some of the plot holes are not really holes, just explained in the series. :)

Saw the movie, loved it. Lots of action, lots of blood, and a few loose ends tied up. hope the rumor about the triliogy is true

You'll get a ton more out of the movie by seeing the series first, but it's still quite enjoyable without having seen the show, from what I hear. The series will make sense sooner on, and you may get hooked faster than if you hadn't seen the movie. But of course, you'll have those nasty spoilers to lessen some of the enjoyment of watching the mysteries' in the series unfold.

Yes, I am indeed a fan of the series. I own the series DVD set (which is a criminally short 14 episodes :()

But this movie stands on its own, in my opinion. They covered everything they needed to to allow anyone to understand what was going on.

Plus, it has 100% RDA of kickass.

I thought the movie was great. A lot of it was just like the series and all of the characters worked well together just like the show. Great story, great action, very funny...all around awesome. EXCEPT FOR Hogwash..

WTF! Why did they kill him. I can see the preacher he isnt THAT big of a role but Hogwash? Come on....He is a major character and adds a lot of comedic relief throught the movie and the shows. There is a lot of chemistry between all the characters and when you kill one off that just sucks. I still dont understand WHY they needed to kill him. It didnt move any plot forward or change anything drastically. The only thing that came from his was a pissed off woman killing stuff.....thats about it....

I enjoyed the movie a lot.

SPOILER

After the preacher died, I thought they were gonna kill of characters one by one since they had no chance at having their tv show recontinued anyway. I was actually expecting at least half of them to die.
And whats up with no blue guys? they were much more menacing, fearsome, interesting than that smart-alleck operative.

i'm glad they killed off the preacher. his background was cliche too.

=> a preacher with a past. "i wasnt always a preacher." And still has high level clearance in the Alliance. (gee... former military? maybe a general that got tired of fighting?)

but yeah, Hogwash's death suprised me. if they continue with this franchise, i'm very interested in where it goes from here.

I liked the movie, but I felt they did not explore the characters enough in the movie. People who have watched the series will have a MUCH better understanding of who the characters are than people who did not watch the series.

If you never saw the series the deaths would not be that big a deal...but remember Whedon has a history or resurecting and killing off characters as he sees fit. If you have a universe where people can read minds then others can bring people back.

It is criminal that A. Fox screwed the series with a bad slot, no marketing and OUT OF ORDER run and B. That universal only put the film on 2100 screens. The pathetic Into the Blue movie was on two big screens while Serenity was on one small one at my local theater.

My hope is this movie has legs and pulls in a 10-12 million for the next few weekends...then we may see a sequel. Remember Star Trek was cancled and then came back as a movie series that brought more TV...we can only hope.

I checked out Serenity last night in Orlando. That movie was great. Funny dialogue, a great story line, and characters you can care about. Hell I think the Reaver's vs. Alliance space battle rivaled that battle scene above Corusant in EP3 it was more intense and the sense of dread was palpable. I got into Firefly once it started playing on SciFi Channel and fell in love with the style of the show. I knew I had to see the movie. Some of my friends who have never seen the show (even though I tried to get them to watch it) LOVED the movie and now plan to buy the DVD Set of the show. Hopefully this movie will do well enough to warrent a green light for a few Sequels. Or perhaps it will jumpstart a new season of Firefly shows!

How PG-13 is this movie? Spiderman 2 was PG-13 and I didn't see anything terribly wrong with it (besides the plot & acting).

The reason is that I would like to see it w/ my kids. Is it safe?

Thanks & LMK.

It can get pretty gory with the reavers.

It makes sense if you watch them in order.

it's more intense than spiderman2. hardly any sexy parts, and not a whole lot of blood, but a lot of corpses and pretty scary reavers. if theyre 13 or older, they should be fine, but it's a pretty accurate pg-13.
