I'm not partisan at all. Trust me, you're the crazy one :p

You are funny. Even hilarious. But it must be nice to be certain. Personally, I find certainty terrifying. The inquisitors were objective too. Godly people!

I guess he wasn't a Marine but the fact remains.

  • 1."To take charge of this post and all government property in view." Where your post is and the limits of your post will be spelled out in your special orders. Within these limits a sentry has authority over all persons entering on his post.

2."To walk my post in a military manner keeping always on the alert and observing everything that takes place within sight or hearing."When you take charge of your post you will conduct yourself in a military manner at all times; being alert to everything that takes place around you.

    3. "To report all violations of orders I am instructed to enforce." A sentry will report immediately any violation of orders, apprehending (to temporarily hold) any offender.

4."To repeat all calls from posts more distant from the guardhouse than my own." If another sentry calls to the Corporal of the Guard and you are closer to the guardhouse than he is, repeat the call exactly as you heard it.

5."To quit my post only when properly relieved." A sentry may leave his post to apprehend an individual who is violating an order, but will at all other times remain on his post. If time comes for his relief, he will not leave his post but will call the Corporal of the Guard.

6."To receive, obey, and pass on to the sentry who relieves me, all orders from the Commanding Officer, Officer of the Day, officers and non-commissioned officers of the guard only."Orders may change or new orders may be received while you are walking your post. You must be sure that your relief has these orders explained to him.

7."To talk to no one except in the line of duty."When a sentry is asked a questions, he answers briefly and courteously. You will allow no one to remain on your post to carry on a conversation except those members of the guard conducting inspections.

8."To give the alarm in case of fire or disorder." The first rule is to sound the alarm loudly so that the Corporal of the Guard will hear you. If there is a fire, sound the alarm and clear the building. If a disorder comes about on your post, call the Corporal of the Guard and attempt to apprehend the individuals causing the disorder.

9."To call the Corporal of the Guard in any case not covered by instructions." When in doubt call the Corporal of the Guard. If a situation arises that is not covered by either general or special orders, call the Corporal of the Guard.

10."To salute all officers, colors, and standards not cased." A sentry walking his post during periods when he does not have to challenge and armed with a rifle (except at sling arms) will execute the proper rifle salute to all officers on or near his post. If the sentry is at sling arms he will render a hand salute. When a sentry is addressed by an officer, before challenging or after challenging, the sentry while at the halt will render a present arms. A sentry who is armed with a pistol does not salute after challenging. He stands at raised pistol and holding a conversation, he does not salute, but remains at raised pistol until the person has passed. No salute will be rendered by a member of the Guard who is engaged in the performance of a specific duty which would prevent saluting. Cased colors or standards are those which are furled and enclosed in a protective covering.

    11. "To be especially watchful at night, and during the time for challenging, to challenge all persons on or near my post and to allow no one to pass without proper authority."
SOP.

Your point since he was not on guard duty at the time?

He was given permission by his superior that he could leave and told to not take his equipment with him. In addition it is coming out that he was out taking a leak when captured.

No he wasn't, stop lying.

This little tidbit about one of the guys from Bergdahl's squad who is slagging on him seems pertinent.

Korder was recently discharged, which was listed as “other than honorable.”
That fits with the Rolling Stone article about how Bergdahl's unit had some major fuckups in it. If this Korder guy is one of those fuckups is his word about the service of someone else really worth anything at all? Not to me.

This is why I prefer to wait for everything to come out and to not jump to conclusions.

Hmm...
Korder is a piece of crap. He is a pathological liar and a complete hypocrite. He says this Bergdahl guy abandoned them...but what Korder doesn't say about himself is that he (Korder) abandoned his own children. I know because I have his 8 year old daughter. He left me when I got pregnant, knocked up another girl right after he left me, and left her. Since he disappeared, she didn't have family support and ended up having to give up their daughter. He denied our daughter for several years. After he got married, his wife had to FORCE him to talk to my daughter. He has NEVER made an effort to see or talk to her on his own merit. She will be 9 in Oct. He has 3 kids that we know of. And he has pretty much turned his back on all of them. Screw him for complaining about someone abandoning him. And there was a fund for him...but I complained to the site and they took it down. He does NOT deserve support from anyone...he can't even help support his own kids. There is a lot more to him than that. And I would LOVE to expose him, but I wouldn't even know where to start.
And he was discharged because he cheated on his wife sooooo many times and there was sooooo much proof that the Army could no longer turn their backs. I know the Army protects their soldiers from infidelity cases a lot. But there was just soooo much evidence against him and he lied to his commanding officers so much, that they had to discharge them. From what his wife has told me, he is not getting money from them. He hasn't even paid his court ordered child support for their child.
I do have the number for legal aid...and I shall call them tomorrow
Also....what really is a slap in the face to my daughter....he has a new gf right now who has a daughter that is around the same age as mine....and her little girl calls him "Daddy" and he is supposedly playing the role for her. What a dick. How can you completely turn your back on your own child, but have no problems taking care of someone elses?
Ya know, he was in MN where his soon to be ex wife and their child lives...he was there doing the news interview and never once even tried to talk to his daughter.
Juicy.

OMG that pic of Korder really made me laugh because the first thing I thought of was that he has Ted Cruz eyebrows...lol!

Yeah, this guy is a big piece of shit. I'm a father and I would never abandon my kids. I'm a husband of 27+ years and I would never cheat on my wife. Korder is a liar, cheat and all around piece of shit.

IOW just the kind of guy conservatives would believe. Look at those pained eyebrows in that pic, they are enough to melt the stone that a conservative heart is made of!

That is a definition of an Ad hominen attack right there. Don't listen to this guy's story about Bergdahl's desertion because he is a shitty husband and father.

If what was said about Korder is true then he is a man without honor. That he received a less than honorable discharge backs this assertion up. If he wants to stick his neck out and impugn the honor of someone else then he better be ready to be called on the question of his own lack of honor. You can't pick and choose what you will be honorable about, you either are an honorable person or you are not.

Like Bergdahl's story, Korder's story is just that, an internet story with no facts to back it up yet. I will be watching this unfold with great interest.

This other allegation by his ex-girlfriend, via his ex-wife to be, sure sounds like a man who is anything but a real man.

His wife was living in MN having a miscarriage while he was based in AK, when she called that friday (Of Valentines Day 2009) and told him she was in the hospital for a miscarriage. He told her to rest but he wouldn't have his phone on because the army was keeping him busy that weekend. A month or so later, he was deployed...all of his belongings were in AK. His wife got a call/text from someone askking if she was still married to him. When she said yes, this woman proceeded to tell her that he had been living with her the entire 2-3 months he had been based in AK. That weekend she was in the hospital, she found out that he had been sleeping with this other woman the ENTIRE weekend. Trying to get her pregnant, telling her he loved her. This poor other woman had no clue he was still married. He knew his wife was in the hospital. But he turned his phone off on purpose to have sex with his gf.

I'm not arguing he shouldn't had been swapped. And in fact I have no idea if he left his post. I will leave that up to the investigation to determine. But to bring out one of his accusers is a shitty husband and father as to dismiss the claims is an ad hominen.

Hey,those men died so you pieces of shit could say that it was irrelevant they died, then lie about the reason they died.

..and they'd do it all over again, too.
Unfortunately the US is running out of people of that calibur.
They are most certainly not to be found much around here.

Well this didn't take long to escalate. Some of you Bergdahl haters can't wait for him to get home and face the music if he has broken military code, now some of you want to threaten his parents lives. I hope the police/FBI catch the assholes who are doing this and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law. Bergdahl has already been tried and convicted by the American public and he hasn't even set foot back in this country, nor has he been allowed to face his accusers in court.

'Some guys said blahblahblahblah and we believe them so lets string up the traitor! Fuck due process, he's guilty as sin!'

Some fucking lame-assed military supporting patriotic Americans you impatient fuckwads are. With fellow citizens like you who the hell needs enemies? It's a sad day in this country when this soldier and his family were safer when he was being held as a POW.

I'm liking the way that you're trying to look pro troops while arguing against the freeing of a captured American service man.

It's not working but it's entertaining to watch.

Lack of facts is not stopping Fox News bringing on the families of the soldiers to say they "know" their sons were killed looking for Bergdahl.

Way to take advantage of the families Mr. Fair and Balanced.

Do you ever get tired oh being on the wrong side of every argument? Do you ever get tired of not being able to try to make a post that does have at least one of two words misspelled? You really aren't clear on who the pieces of shit here are, are you? Look in the mirror you traitor.

You guys miss the point entirely- It's really about Benghazi according to Lindsey Graham

GRAHAM: This is a very bad deal for America and this is the same president who embraces never leaving anybody behind, but never picked up the phone during the night of the Benghazi attack to call for help in Libya and was virtually AWOL.

So I want to thank him for keeping Benghazi alive.

Shameless, bitter, cynical & unprincipled partisan hackery at its finest.

That's the basis for all of the Repubs' trumped up scandals.

First, it's from Hot Air, which is the perfect name for that place.
-snip-

This line of argument annoys me.

The link is to a video of his fellow soldiers speaking about what they knew. I.e., we're hearing their own words, not some pundint or talking head. So what does it matter who hosts it? (And if you'd have bothered to check it out you'd have seen that Hot Air isn't hosting it. Their link goes to another site.)
