Yeah because it matters what your soldiers say when it comes to deciding whether or not the US government should attempt to bring home a POW!

Is that your argument fern?

Can you refute what was in the article?

Can you prove what's alleged in it is true?

You guys are doing your shill job nicely :)

Your job is to troll Anand and spin.

Fortunately most Americans don't read Anand political forums.

Everyone is pissed off, except the shills on here. :D

That is a fact.

Quote: "In the early-morning hours of June 30th, according to soldiers in the unit, Bowe approached his team leader not long after he got off guard duty and asked his superior a simple question: If I were to leave the base, would it cause problems if I took my sensitive equipment?
Yes, his team leader responded – if you took your rifle and night-vision goggles, that would cause problems.
Bowe returned to his barracks, a roughly built bunker of plywood and sandbags. He gathered up water, a knife, his digital camera and his diary. Then he slipped off the outpost."

The team leader according to the article
1) Did not give permission to leave.
He answered a hypothetical question.

2) By those statements, is was desertion. He was leaving his unit, not intending on returning immediately. Not just heading around tbe layerine for a midnight stroll.

If the choose to bring charges, such testimony will be the final straw.

That's a fact based off of the bubble from which you live in. How do we know you live in a bubble? Because Americans understand that justice for a fellow American doesn't come from the hands of our enemies. If an American soldier is accused of an illegal act by his peers then he, A) should be formally charged, B) be allowed a fair trial by a jury of his peers.

The fact that you support neither of the above before passing judgement on the guy and you don't even support his return so he can face the above tells me you are a hack and an unamerican piece of shit no better than our enemies.

But whatever, your bubble relies on conflated justifications.

Pft. Fortunately most Americans aren't low information voting tards and know when they are being sold a load of horse shit from the GOP and their tardbase. The job of your CIC is to bring them all home whether it be to face a firing squad or to ride in a ticker tape parade.

I guess he wasn't a Marine but the fact remains.

  • 1."To take charge of this post and all government property in view." Where your post is and the limits of your post will be spelled out in your special orders. Within these limits a sentry has authority over all persons entering on his post.

2."To walk my post in a military manner keeping always on the alert and observing everything that takes place within sight or hearing."When you take charge of your post you will conduct yourself in a military manner at all times; being alert to everything that takes place around you.

    3. "To report all violations of orders I am instructed to enforce." A sentry will report immediately any violation of orders, apprehending (to temporarily hold) any offender.

4."To repeat all calls from posts more distant from the guardhouse than my own." If another sentry calls to the Corporal of the Guard and you are closer to the guardhouse than he is, repeat the call exactly as you heard it.

5."To quit my post only when properly relieved." A sentry may leave his post to apprehend an individual who is violating an order, but will at all other times remain on his post. If time comes for his relief, he will not leave his post but will call the Corporal of the Guard.

6."To receive, obey, and pass on to the sentry who relieves me, all orders from the Commanding Officer, Officer of the Day, officers and non-commissioned officers of the guard only."Orders may change or new orders may be received while you are walking your post. You must be sure that your relief has these orders explained to him.

7."To talk to no one except in the line of duty."When a sentry is asked a questions, he answers briefly and courteously. You will allow no one to remain on your post to carry on a conversation except those members of the guard conducting inspections.

8."To give the alarm in case of fire or disorder." The first rule is to sound the alarm loudly so that the Corporal of the Guard will hear you. If there is a fire, sound the alarm and clear the building. If a disorder comes about on your post, call the Corporal of the Guard and attempt to apprehend the individuals causing the disorder.

9."To call the Corporal of the Guard in any case not covered by instructions." When in doubt call the Corporal of the Guard. If a situation arises that is not covered by either general or special orders, call the Corporal of the Guard.

10."To salute all officers, colors, and standards not cased." A sentry walking his post during periods when he does not have to challenge and armed with a rifle (except at sling arms) will execute the proper rifle salute to all officers on or near his post. If the sentry is at sling arms he will render a hand salute. When a sentry is addressed by an officer, before challenging or after challenging, the sentry while at the halt will render a present arms. A sentry who is armed with a pistol does not salute after challenging. He stands at raised pistol and holding a conversation, he does not salute, but remains at raised pistol until the person has passed. No salute will be rendered by a member of the Guard who is engaged in the performance of a specific duty which would prevent saluting. Cased colors or standards are those which are furled and enclosed in a protective covering.

    11. "To be especially watchful at night, and during the time for challenging, to challenge all persons on or near my post and to allow no one to pass without proper authority."
SOP.

After he is done recovering from being in captivity and is medically fit, it's almost a certainty that he will be debriefed by the military and if it is warranted charged with applicable crimes.

As for leaving him in the hands of the Taliban. It wasn't an option. Anyone who is saying we should have left him to rot and perhaps die there is an un-American assole.

....

Bolded for truth. These assholes posting here would be the first to jump down Obama's throat for leaving Bergdahl their another day if a deal that could have been struck, fell through Obama's hands, and the right wing spin machine had gotten a hold of it. These assholes would be singing quite a different tune right now. We can see right through them and their booze, prescription drugs, and chicken grease addled brains. Who is this Rick Perry and will he be your next president? :whiste:

Do these guys honestly think they are a majority in the USA? Too funny

That is a fact.

"Everyone" being idiots who absorb too much right wing agitprop.

Whatever Bergdahl may have done- right, wrong or indifferent- does not change the responsibility of our govt to bring him home if they can. If you can't get past the Obama-hate to see that, you're diseased.

You're calling the article a lie. Why? Based on what?

And just what is it that I'm supposed to be "shilling" for here.

btw, is Gen. Stanley McChrystal, the guy's ex commanding general, a "shill". He hardly has any reason to love the present administration and he says you're wrong.

"“We’re going to have to wait and talk to Sgt. Bergdahl now and get his side of the story,” he said. “One of the great things about America is we should not judge until we know the facts. And after we know the facts, then we should make a mature judgment on how we should handle it.”"

"Asked whether he would have made the same prisoner swap, McChrystal replied: “We don’t leave Americans behind. That’s unequivocal.”"

You guys are crazy. I don't like how the president bypassed congress, especially for this guy, of all the guys to trade for. Plus trading at all is just going to motivate them to capture more POWs. The whole thing isn't very smart.

The liberals vs democrats thing is so dumb. P&N you whack.

What? no, he was a deserter, you know what that means right?

Why risk even more soldiers lives for a guy who willingly waltzed on over to the enemy. Anyone who is actually in the military would agree, this isn't politics bullshit. Its why the white house was so shocked, they thought they were doing a good thing. But it demonstrated how they are in their own little world. Much like you I guess.

Once more with gusto:

Soldiers go off base for a lot of reasons, & the Taliban obviously didn't regard him as having come over to their side at all.

Anything to express that Obama hate, huh?

This was a forward operating base. It was not Siagon where there were bars and restaurants that the GI's could go to.

I'm not partisan at all. Trust me, you're the crazy one :p

Heh. You've got us fooled, I guess.

All of this contrived outrage is directed towards Obama. Obviously, he was wrong to engage in a prisoner swap for a worthless piece of shit, correct?

But go ahead, parrot right wing Obama hater talking points in your "non-partisan" way.

Who cares if he deserted? It's a human response to a pointless war.
In the era of the draft (Viet Nam), they yes, but with today's all voluntary army, no fucking way, just don't join.

My point is that we don't know the facts. Those won't be determined until he's debriefed.

In another time & place, our resident ravers would form a lynch mob.

That is exactly why a Republican will never ever be elected as POTUS ever again........
