Not according to the FBI report I looked a day or two back.
Honestly, you're sounding more than a little fanatical about Joe. It's not convincing, it comes off like a sales pitch.
I looked up that report. It is a mixed bag, apparently. Violent crime dropped, but only back to pre-pandemic levels. Property crimes "rose substantially".

I'm not sure what report you're referring to but I'm certain it backs me up. Crime is at some of the lowest levels in our lifetimes.

lol - I couldn't care less about Joe Biden. The only thing that matters is that Trump never becomes president again as he attempted a coup last time.
The two are connected, no? It is like you are saying you want your favorite team to win a Super Bowl, but it doesn't matter whether your team is the Carolina Panthers or the Chiefs.

If the question is if I want Biden to win that's absolutely true. Fanatical about him though? Not any more fanatical than I would be for anyone else who was going against the Republicans.

To use a football analogy I always root for whoever is playing the Cowboys. It has nothing to do with my love of the other 31 teams of the NFL - I just always want the Cowboys to lose.

I don't remember people saying that Obama was going to lose because of high crime in 2012, despite crime then being much higher than it is now.

I think a sizable majority of the Republican electorate would be ok with that.

They assume that they'll always be the ones wearing the boot of course which isn't guaranteed.
This is the answer, of course. Conservatives love Trump because he tells them they should be the ones wearing the boot.
Meanwhile, liberals will fight amongst themselves about how they believe things should be, completely oblivious to the present danger.

Or in the words of Dark Helmet, "Evil will always win, because good is dumb."

It’s an important lesson all Philadelphians need to learn: hatred for the Cowboys > love for the Eagles.

So, how does the right-wing media manage to convince Biden and liberal prosecutors are responsible for a drastic increase in crime when over time the opposite is true?

Property crimes "rose substantially" - back up to still be 5-10% below pre-pandemic levels & more than a 50% reduction below crime peak seen in the 1980's. Which some economists and criminologists saw as a demographic peak - the drop off substantially aided by Roe v. Wade overriding state bans on abortion starting in 1973, and thus reducing unwanted teenagers by 1990's with an associated sharp drop in crime. By 2040 or so, we should begin to reap the reverse "windfall" benefit of sharply higher crime, thanks to Dobbs.

Is that not a well-known global phenomenon? That violent crime hit a peak during the '90s?
I favour the "lead in petrol" thesis, myself, but I gather there are many different possible explanations.

So, how does the right-wing media manage to convince Biden and liberal prosecutors are responsible for a drastic increase in crime when over time the opposite is true?
Because despite the decrease in crime the mention of crime (especially on local news" has gone up because it drives ratings. So people like @pcgeek11 are fed a constant diet of bad news that is different from actual reality and primed to believe things are getting worse instead of getting better.

Basically right wing media takes advantage of a landscape that was setup due to economic interests.

I thought so and I also subscribe to the lead poisoning angle. Also in the US the president has very limited control over crime anyway as it's overwhelmingly enforced by state and local governments, but all that aside the basic point is that crime is very low by modern historical standards so it makes no sense to attack Biden on 'high crime'.

I had two people ask me at Christmas if we were going to move out of San Diego due to the "crime wave". I almost injured my eye rolling muscles. They were not happy when I told them that crime where they lived was way higher than SD and asked if they were planning to move lol.

And which President was it that signed the bill that emptied the prisons?

For the record, ondma is the guy who blamed Biden for Minnesota's legislature spending its budget surplus, and for his own grandson's inability to buy a house. So of course it's Biden's fault that we're fighting "2 wars" and for surging crime.

Just look at the polls. You may not believe them, but Trump is neck to neck or even leading in some of them. The scary part is that traditionally Trump has done better than the polls suggested. The problem for the Dems is that most of the younger potential candidates are toward the liberal end of the Dem spectrum and may not appeal to independents and more traditional voters. The world is in pretty much of a mess right now. Prices are rising more slowly, but still high in food, housing, transportation and medical care. The war in Ukraine has ground to a stalemate, and now Israel/Hamas are going at it. The border is a disaster and crime is still high. These situations may not be Biden's fault, but it is easy to blame them on the incumbent, and Biden's appearance of feebleness and horrible public speaking abilities dont help to refute them.

You also didn’t address my questions.

Anyone think the people in this thread whose feels have been proven wrong will change and update their attitudes to reflect this new knowledge?

If they won’t then what does that say about them?

I mean they've literally said in nothing threads (or maybe it was this one?) that nothing would change their minds, soooo.... yeah....

Biden hasn't improved and pointing out that Trump also has declined is just ignored. To many Trump seems ok, because he always spewed shit/errors and he has high energy. So Trump doesn't seem as bad, just normal Trump.

I like Biden, he's done a decent job, but continuing to lean so heavily on such a flawed candidate is a terrible gamble.
Sure, but an argument can be made that almost any Democrat could beat Trump. Joe could have a stroke any time (so could anybody), but it's not like Trump would have a red carpet into the White House if that happens.
