I have a feeling the debate will be more of a coming together between the two, than an ugly brawl. Neither of them have anything to gain by going to the mats at this point. If they do, the only winner will be Trump, Putin and some rabid conspiracy Bernie voters.

The transcript of Bernie's statement a few days ago. Pretty much zero negativity against Biden himself, and plenty against Trump (as well as the standard Bernie bogeymen - corporations, big money, etc.). It almost read as a concession speech. If that's how he campaigns going forward, I think it can only make the eventual nominee stronger.

haha, 100k votes got him elected. let's see how it goes, that's a small amount of swing votes. maybe xenophobia and lies will be enough again.

Yeah I'm not sure why people think Trump is somehow immune to bad press, etc. In 2016 he lost by millions of votes and only got in due to the electoral college. He's the most enduringly unpopular president in the history of polling, and in 2018 he got blown out by one of the largest vote margins in modern history.

Republicans have big structural advantages that mean he might win anyway due to the electoral college but let's not be delusional here - he's unpopular and always has been precisely because this sort of dirt DOES stick to him.

You forget about the Green and Libertarian parties. 2020 is getting nuked. This is a psychological horror movie that I don't want to watch.

Hornberger => Alien Ron Paul
Hawkins => Actual Socialist-Communist
Sanders => Democratic Socialist loser
Biden => Good-enough democratic Trump yet not Trump

Those parties existed 4 years ago. 100k votes, that's the margin. A small City worth of people.

Long ago conservatives believed they were principled, they still do but only require it from others. Credibility is gone. Electing a life long criminal because of 50 year grudges is no way to move the country forward.

The problem is you're ignoring they're literally saying they want to move the country 70 years back. Its one of the few times they're being honest.

True, patently dishonest. Because it's what conservative Jesus would do. Liberal tears are just that good

I doubt facts will move you, regardless of anything. You are a lost cause. I am pretty sure someone else will post and you'll ignore it or simply say nope these facts aren't truth, #FakeFacts.

We were actually more socialistic 70 years ago. What they want is 120 years ago.

Heh. America took a chance on Trump. It was all looking good until it wasn't. Bubbles & illusions are like that. Poink! and then it's gone.

Speaking of the topic.... it is alive and well:

Nolte: Joe Biden Forgets Year, Meanders Off Frame in Disastrous Livestream

Seems like the sort of thing Trump will hit him on. Though I can understand how someone TOO OLD to be a Boomer would be a disaster for a live stream, if not given proper handlers to let them know what it is they are doing, and if / when the camera is live.
Wow they're really flailing. He didn't forget the dates, he was just clarifying himself live. He was talking about action he would take and initially said November because it comes to mind quickly and then clarified January because that's when he would actually be inaugurated.

The right wing attacks & the Bernie Bros spread it around... so special...

Now I actually want the guy to win just so I can see angry conservatives freak out and cry for 4 years.
Biden Derangement Syndrome might almost be half as funny as Obama Derangement Syndrome.

You always do this when asked to support your assertions. You should ask yourself why you are unable or unwilling to provide data to support your beliefs.

Yeah, of course I'm going to do that. You should note data doesn't prove anything on this forum. To ask for sources/citations, then have that disregarded is comical.

[[What is your data, what is your data?! Well, your data doesn't jell with my beliefs so it is untrue!!!]]

I find that data proves things just fine here. Usually the people who won’t supply it are bullshitters who got caught.

It'd be funny to see the things they'd cry about... waaah, we're no longer scapegoating brown people for our own problems, ignoring science and practicing overt cruelty and corruption on a daily basis. Maybe they'd obsess over the Burisma non-story.

My concern is that American right tends to take losing badly in a way that makes present-day liberals seem cool and collected. I'm half-convinced conservatives have had a "divine right to rule" mindset since at least 9/11 where they believe they're entitled to run the country forever, and the more that 'mandate' is threatened, the more they lash out. Both the GOP and some of its supporters lost their minds in 2008, and it only got worse when they regained power in 2016; you can tell a few of our resident conservatives fantasize about eternal Republican one-party rule.

Imagine what happens in November if Biden wins and those dreams of Trump as ruler for life come crashing down. I wouldn't be surprised if his more extreme devotees (including a few posters here) decide to do more than just moan on social networks and push Republican congresspeople to hold go-nowhere inquiries.

It's pretty clear that Joe is slipping. That's not a condemnation, just a part of getting old, he has good days and bad days. The question really becomes, is senile Joe a better choice than Trump? I don't know the answer to that. It's like choosing between athletes foot and jock itch.
