The Chinese stole an underwater drone from a USN survey ship

Well if you put something into international waters, basically anybody can pick it up if they want can't they?

Not sure why would the Chinese would want it if they knew it was just a climate gathering drone. Apparently you disagree with the hypothesis I posted, what is yours?

No, just because something is in intentional waters doesn't mean that ownership somehow no longer relevant.

In order to claim salvage the UUV would have to be at risk, it wasn't. The UUV is actually a sovereign vessel of the US and it was illegally seized.

Obama is too busy throwing his post election tantrum to be bothered by it. I'm sure he's happy to blame China on President-elect Trump as he is happy to try to blame Hillary's loss on Russia.

The Chinese wanted it because when they need to develop a new tech they steal an existing copy.

And it is not like this thing was just floating around in the ocean by itself. The Chinese were tailing the navy ship and likely saw the navy ship put the drones in the water (no where near Chinese territory). The ships were in visual contact and the navy ship saw the chinese ship launch a smaller craft and take the drone. There was even radio contact. Since this incident the U.S. has requested their property be returned. The Chinese know whose drone this is.

China does this shit because they know obama is China's bitch and wont do a thing. But that Vladamir Putin though.

OP, you're weird.

^^ You're weird too.

Things are often weird until you understand them. See, the OP & friends are putting on tough guy airs and rile up like-minded fascists to approve greater government subsidy of their favored areas/people. And I was just pointing this out.

What did you say? You were mumbling again.

You hear voices when you read the words on your screen? Cool.

re being hard of hearing, this might help

You have to wonder how much Trump is going to take from the Chinese. We could actually see a US/Chinese war by next year. Will Trump go off the deep end and start lobbying missiles at China? Will we lob missiles at their fake island?

It's very possible.

The law of the sea & particularly of salvage dictates that you can keep anything you find floating around in international waters. The Chinese skipper exploited that. It's certainly not grounds for some major international incident.

It's ground for and an act of war. The Chinese only did it because we have such a weak assed piece of garbage as our current President. Something like what Iran did with Jimmy Carter a few decades back. Iran sure changed their tune when Reagan was inaugurated.

My guess is obama will have sec of state lurch deliver a sharply worded apology to the Chinese government for using a drone too close to their new military bases in the South China Sea.
.

Obviously the answer is to bomb at least 3 of the Chinese island bases. That will teach them.

The bolded part is just f'ing retarded.

So one one hand he is to adventurous and gets us into too many conflicts. On the other hand he is too weak because he doesn't do something "strong".

What kind of drugs do you guys have to take everyday to deal with the constant conflict of the voices in your head?

Layered bullshit. It's an act of salvage. Anybody who pulls it out of the ocean can keep it under centuries old standards.

Warren Christopher arranged the release of the hostages in Iran. The Iranians delayed it so as to not grant Carter any victories.

Yep. It's one of those cat & mouse games.

Trump trolls China with that Taiwan phone call, and China trolls us by stealing some underwater drone.

At least that drone wasn't loaded with guns and ammunition. Otherwise, this would be far more serious than what it is now.

You're an idiot
"were finally released on 20 January 1981." The day Ronald Reagan took office and they did it for a good reason and it didn't involve Jimmy Carter.

"Sanctions have not worked simply because they have not been enforced. Now, Washington looks like it’s getting serious."

Great after 7 years and 10 months it looks as if Obama is going to enforce something.

trade sanctions are tricky with China, considering massive amounts of American companies rely on China for much of their business.

I'm going to lean with giving Obama the benefit of the doubt here, he has way more knowledge of what's up than we do.

And since he didn't turn out to be a Muslim Kenyan Terrorist that wanted to run FEMA death camps and come and take our guns, I feel comfortable with that.

No, it's not.

Considering the lengths Reagan went to to pay back the Iranians (eg contra deal), the claims that they timed the release just hours after the inauguration as transactional exchange are lent great credence.

Russia is basically Trump's Iran. Look for some sweetheart deals for trump sycophants to cheerlead in the years to come.

China isn't dumb and has rather some experience with graft; they'll be doing what they can to pay Trump's people for quid pro quo.

Horse. water. drink. not.

There was also this small matter a few years later-

Which happened even after this-

Yeh, Ronnie was a ruff tuff cream puff who didn't negotiate with Terrarists.
