I'm guessing you are highly uneducated about the Bible and ancient history. There are mountains of tangible physical archaeological evidence that prove that virtually all of the events described in the Bible actually happened. Heck, there are even secular accounts proving that Jesus was an actual person. Choosing to not believe that God exists or that he was involved in those events is entirely your right, but claiming that those events are fictional exposes you as an ignorant kiddie.

The same can't be said about the book of Mormon - there is no evidence supporting the events described therein. Some of the early founders of that cult even recanted on their deathbeds, saying that they made up the whole thing.
Good luck with getting people to see those simple truths here. They simply do not want to believe that archeologists working in Israel use the Bible for historical reference.

I don't disagree with you about the Book of Mormon and the LDS church, however, I would like to point out that I strongly dislike the word "cult." People have the right to believe how they will. And there is absolutely no question that Jesus was a cult in his own time. As an example that would readily hold up under the modern definition of "cult," see Matthew 19:21-22.

As stated all-ready the Bible has been more or less proven to be true, at least the events and characters in it. Your belief in God and his work in the Bible is your choice and that is up for debate.

Well, the book of mormon is fiction.
True, and their religion is a Cult. The whole special under garments, special handshake, special name, populate the earth, years worth of food, tithe 10%, get your own planet afterlife is just a bit too weird.

Oh, and their leader named Hinckley, has a direct connection with God and he has told all Mormons to avoid Rave parties.......

CULT!
Heh. I love these arguments. Assuming that you are a Christian knocking the Mormons, your arguments mean that you don't even know your own faith and have probably never read the Bible.

Special garments: Numbers 15
Special handshake: doesn't exist
Special name: Jewish tradition
Populate the earth: Genesis 1:28
Year's worth of food: Genesis 41
Tithing: Leviticus 27
Getting your own planet: not an actual Mormon belief

Not that I am trying to argue with you, but you have to take the old testament with a grain of salt. It was written for the people of the earth before the new covenant brought about by the death of Jesus on the cross. Thats why the rules laid down in the old testament (especially leviticus) are not followed to the letter today, you don't have to according to Jesus and the new testament. In those times people had to make up for their sinful nature, now you have the blood of Jesus that does that for you.

As for the Mormans, I personally believe most of their book is fiction, but part of that is that it can't be coroborated. That is a little hypcritical as I take alot of what the Bible says on faith and you could say the same thing about the book of Mormon. I have no problem with those that are Mormon, they have made their choice as I have made mine. Most are very good people and I have many friends who are Mormon.

How can people say the bible is fiction? I thought a lot of the historical events in the bible have been discovered?

I agree (and personally place no credence on Leviticus myself, but for different reasons than what you gave) but that's not what I meant.
My point was the idea of Christians knocking Mormons for following beliefs that actually are in the Bible. Personally, I am shocked that any person can call themselves a Christian and NOT pay their tithes. That seems outrageously hypocritical to me, especially considering the importance that Jesus placed on tithing (Mark 12:41-44).
Don't take that Protestant "faith only" crap too seriously. They're just trying to sell God the easy way by telling people they can have their cake and eat it too. All Paul meant in Ephesians 2:8-10 was no man can declare another to be saved (i.e. the Catholic practice of indulgences) -- only God can do that. Otherwise, read verse 10 (the one your preacher likes to leave out). You are expected to do good works. It is not a condition of salvation (as faith is) but a requirement (Matt 7:21).

I know man, isn't that funny. Usually people limit their statements to a small bumper sticker or an even tinnier window sticker. But that thing is freakin huge! Man do they have a bone to pick. Of course, Mormon's are increasingly turning against the strict teachings of their faith in ever increasing numbers these days.

this thread's spewing of opionion and speculation has gone out of control.

Very little truth, on either side of the argument can be found in here.

The claims the bible is true is like claim harry potter is true because there really is a london train station and a person living in london named harry.

Some people feel jaded by some religions. A while back I went on a date with a woman that had been recently divorced. She was in her 20's and already very bitter. Her husband had been Mormon and she had hated it. She told me she was now Satanic and Wiccan. So, I guess she wanted to go the other extreme as 'revenge' on her husband that was no longer in her life? I dunno but she wasn't going to like me when she found out I believe in Christianity. :)

You, perhaps, should do some research. ;) You're obviously clueless.

WTF

At what point do you become so obsessed with someone else's religion that you put stickers on your car saying bad stuff about it? I am not mormon (or religious for that matter) but I would think that it would be better to talk up your specific religion, rather than talk down someone elses.

Oh.. PICS!

I've done lots of research. And I'm not clueless. If you need links to well respected organizations that back up my opinion, I'll be glad to provide them.

I don't, but it's apparent that your 'well respected organizations' are slightly biased, and have the innate ability to turn their head away from fact.

Look up information on the Dead Sea Scrolls, for one.
