A) Why not put an "Other" in your poll because your list is teh suck.

B) It's spelled DeNiro... get it right.

C) In your list, the best is clearly Tom Hanks. The only one that even comes close is Jack Nicholson. I'm not a huge Tom Hanks "fan," but anyone that votes otherwise is just crazy. Pacino isn't too far away, but he - like DeNiro - has too many lackluster performances to be considered great. Paul Newman shouldn't even be on the list. Teh fact is, Tom Hanks is able to mold himself into the character, whereas many of the others mold the character into themselves (Pacino and DeNiro). I also think Tom Cruise should get some recognition. Hey, I can't stand his politics any more than the next man, but he's a GREAT actor. "Collateral," "The Last Samurai," "Magnolia," "Jerry Maguire," "Interview with the Vampire".... the guy's good, even if you can't stand him.

Personally, I think John Goodman - while he's been good and bad - deserves some recognition. He has been just AMAZING in many comedy roles, and if you think comedy is easier than drama, try it out. For the matter, Bill Murray has stepped it up. He's another of the clearly great comedic/serious actors of our time.

Also, though he's not the best actor of our time, I have to make a point to mention Val Kilmer. "Top Gun," "Heat" (fvcking incredible in that movie), and "Tombstone" are all amazing performances. Stuff like Batman and The Saint are what hurts his career. If he sticks with solid roles, you'll see a great actor.

EDIT: OH MY GOD! I CAN'T BELIEVE I FORGOT DANIEL DAY LEWIS!!!! His role in Gangs of New York ALONE established him as a great actor. That man is just amazing. Others I forgot that should be included:

Leonardo DiCaprio (sorry guys, he's talented)
Johnny Depp (how could I miss him?)
Harrison Ford (thanks BrokenVisage, I forgot him... "Blade Runner" > *)

Edit: After thinking about it, id say brad pitt had more difficult to play roles, while tom hanks had some great opportunities for great movies.

In raw acting ability, id give the nod to Brad Pitt. Check out some of his harder roles to play like in 12 monkeys, Snatch, Troy, and for the girls out there, Meet Joe Black.
OK, I agree that Brad Pitt is a good actor, but "Troy?" Dude... you're fired.

What about him? I think he could be a great actor, but he hasn't done enough roles where he really shines. Yes, he's done some, but you really have to do one roll that you could (in the right year, etc.) be nominated for best actor for before you get put on the list.

He's tied with John Goodman for the best SNL host of all time, btw.

Those are all action roles. Nothing that requires more than a pulse and the ability to read lines.

I thought about him, but like some of the others, he seems more to take roles that he fits rather than fitting himself into roles.

Do you have a pulse and can you read lines? I know I do, and no way could I do what he did in those roles.

Would someone name atleast 3 good Tom Hanks movies. I think he is good, but definately overrated. He hasn't really had that many memorable performances in my opinion.

I think he definetely fits himself into roles. He went way out of his 'normal' acting zone for Colonel Kilgore in Apocalypse Now. Also in the Great Santini. These are a few.

Philadelphia, Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan... I could go on for another 30 minutes but you just said 3, oh well. And wow are you dense if you can't find his performances in those movies memorable.

Running, Running, **Stunt Double**, "Get off my Plane" punch, kick, "Millenium Falcon, fastest ship in the fleet" running, punch, jump **Stunt Double**

Bah. He's good in action roles, but that's all he can do. He has no range. Comparing him to someone like Tom Hanks is ridiculous. Harrison Ford doesn't have the range to do something along the lines of Big then transition into a role like Philadelphia then on to Forrest Gump to something like Castaway.

Besides, Harrison Ford has all the charisma of a tree stump

lol. Those are all the same roles, just different movies. :D

I'd say Tom Hanks and Dustin Hoffman...not my favorites, but I'd say the best. To be the best, you've got to have a tremendous amount of range, and the skills these guys show in in lots of different roles is almost freakish.

I'm sorry, but you sir, are a fucking moron. If you can't find brilliance in those 3 than stick to movies like The Hot Chick or Spanglish I guess. Crap or not, you canNOT say Hanks wasn't incredible in it sacraficing his body pretty much to make him look sick in the end. And to even call SPR pretty rank is an insult to lesser WWII movies. I know opinions are like assholes, but honestly, what movie performances do you think ARE memorable?

And you are calling me the moron. If he is so great why hasn't he come out with a decent movie in 10 years?

I don't get why everybody hates Di Caprio to such an extent they are blind to his acting abilities. Say what you want, but he's a really good actor.
