Tom Hanks is probably the best, i voted Newman tho as my favorite. newman did a lot of amazing roles also, he ended up getting an oscar for one of his so so performances but his career was pretty amazing.

Brad Pitt and Tom Hanks.

Edit: After thinking about it, id say brad pitt had more difficult to play roles, while tom hanks had some great opportunities for great movies.

In raw acting ability, id give the nod to Brad Pitt. Check out some of his harder roles to play like in 12 monkeys, Snatch, Troy, and for the girls out there, Meet Joe Black.

every one of those guys had roles that are beyond compare (nicholson in cuckoo's nest, pacino in scent of a woman, godfather, etc), but I think as far as versatility and appearances in so many great movies goes, tom hanks is the best.
