tough vote though.

Ditto.

I find it disturbing that you dont even INCLUDE Daniel Day Lewis

Who?

I hope you are joking

Gangs of New York and The Last of the Mohicans are two great performances. My Left Foot was also good. Problem was his volume of <good> movies, which is nowhere near a Nicholson, Hanks, Pacino, Kilmer, Ford, Newman, or DeNiro. I am a huge fan of Lewis though.

Would someone name atleast 3 good Tom Hanks movies. I think he is good, but definately overrated. He hasn't really had that many memorable performances in my opinion.

Philadelphia, Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan... I could go on for another 30 minutes but you just said 3, oh well. And wow are you dense if you can't find his performances in those movies memorable.

Philadelphia...total crap
Forrest Gump...excellent movie
Saving Private Ryan...Other than the opening scene the movie was pretty rank

I'm sorry, but you sir, are a fvcking moron. If you can't find brilliance in those 3 than stick to movies like The Hot Chick or Spanglish I guess. Crap or not, you canNOT say Hanks wasn't incredible in it sacraficing his body pretty much to make him look sick in the end. And to even call SPR pretty rank is an insult to lesser WWII movies. I know opinions are like assholes, but honestly, what movie performances do you think ARE memorable?

And you are calling me the moron. If he is so great why hasn't he come out with a decent movie in 10 years?

Apollo 13? The Green Mile? Cast Away? Hell, I even thought Catch me if you Can and Road to Perdition were good. He'll be in the Da Vinci Code movie too, so that might be promising, but the way you look at him I don't think anything he'll do will impress you which is a shame. Other than that, blame Hollywood for not "coming out" with decent movies in the last 10, Hanks can only star in them.

I forgot about Road to Perdition, that was a pretty good flick. I also enjoyed Apollo 13. I did like his performance in big.

Catch me if you can was terrible. I read the book years before it came out. The book is nothing like the movie. They completely changed and omitted numerous things in it.

I'm with you on this. Harrison Ford is THE actor of the last 30 years. No one comes close to the $$$ he has brought in ticket sales. And like listed he has so many memorable roles.

no question it's Tom Hanks. Second favorite for me would be Denzel Washington.

One particular actor that has impressed me lately is Adam Sandler. I am a big fan of his acting.

DeNiro when he wants to be,but thats not often or lately. For sheer versatility Hanks, followed closely by Crowe.

Tom Hanks is awesome in every role he tackles and the douche dissing his performances earlier is an utter and complete moron.

That list is incomplete without Johnny Depp and Ed Norton.

EDIT: I voted for Hanks from that list.

Hanks

My personal favorite (admittedly not of the same superstar stature as these guys) but generally considered a fantastic actor is Gene Hackman.

And I agree with an above mention. Robert Duvall is easily on par with most of those in the original list, both in stature and acting ability.

Did you mean Laurence Olivier? Dude the post says last 30 years. The man has been dead for the past 16. A great actor none-the-less, just not in the last 30 years.

Ed Norton is underrated but not the best actor in the last 30 years. I like Jack Nicholson and Tom Hanks, though Denzel also deserves an honourable mention. Deniro and Pacino are good but most of their roles but I don't think they are as flexible as Nicholson or Hanks. I really like their eariler films, though, Taxi Driver and Scarface are great movies.

I have to agree, it's just that his performance in Gangs of New York was truly the best performance I've ever seen by anyone. He was just amazing. He brought such color to that character... I honestly feel that this performance alone puts him in a class with the best.

He has no range. He plays the same action heros over and over.

Box office $$$ doesn't equal a good actor. If that's the case, then Will Smith is a friggin' acting mofo!
