Getting bored finishing up the S4 honor grind on my war/priest so I decided to start leveling a shammy alt. Anyone have a good leveling spec for me? I assume I'd level enhancement as I've heard it's the easiest? Yes? Elemental looks more fun though? Opinions?

I went elem on mine as I didn't want to do yet another pure melee class. He's probably not as effective if you manage to pull a bunch of mobs on you, but 1 or 2 on 1 I had no problem clearing through them.

Do love the mid level XP boost, made about 13 levels after playing parts of the last 4 days. Crossed over 30 and would like my mount now, but if it doesn't come this Tuesday then it probably won't matter for this char.

Well, I finally got my epic flying mount on both my warrior and my priest. My god, it is so fast :Q! I guess I'll go buy it on my mage whenever I get around to it (he has about 5600g right now). I definitely got a big boost to my money when I went around to all the flames in Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms (on the priest and warrior). I still have to do Outlands, but now with the speedy mount, it won't be an issue. Unfortunately, when I went to do the flames earlier in Eastern Kingdoms, it was laggy as all hell.

My current goals are:
1) Get Shaman geared for PVE.
2) Get Warrior geared for whichever.
3) Finish leveling Warlock and Paladin combo.
4) Get Warrior and Priest back to 2000g at least (both around 500g right now).

I'm still not sure what I want to do on my warrior. I went on the PTR, spec'd fury (17/44/0) and purchased the SSO swords. Wowsas, it was just pure crazysauce! The annoyances with 2H DPS just aren't there (you know, how you miss... enemy dodges... parry... *sigh*) and I make up rage like crazy. Although, I was testing with Unbridled Wrath and it seems raid builds don't use it :x. So, my decision is to either grab the 2H S2 sword or get two S2 2.6 Speed Axes (ugh @ 24k honor a piece). I think I'll just go with a few pieces of the armor first trying to snatch up the biggest upgrades. I'll have to do some overall comparisons between raid gear and the S2 PVP gear to get an idea of enchant worth as well. Unfortunately, starting in Karazhan, I'm going to have to be an evil rogue gear stealer as there's only a single plate piece without defense on it and it's not that good anyway.

But #3... man, I went through and did all the flames in just Kalimdor yesterday on the Paladin+Warlock combo... I pretty much got over 200,000 experience just from that alone! I'm going to *shudder* do Eastern Kingdoms sometime, which is thankfully a lot faster to do for Alliance as there's very little non-guided (flight) travel... the only ones I can recall are in the undead area, to Revantusk (soooo long), to Stonard and to Kargath. Also, Kargath's Flame is in such a bad area... it's so darned close to where guards patrol that you really gotta be schneaky.

I'm actually leveling my warrior @ 64 right now. Coming from rogue / lock, the warrior is a ton harder. Every 2 mobs he has to eat / bandage. Running away in an "oh sh!t" situation means defensive stance and shield wall if you have it. :D Regardless, the length of time per mob sucks, even as fury and two 1Hs (slow MH, fast OH). I basically do berserker rage, rampage, bloodthirst, whirlwind combos for each mob. Am I doing something wrong?

EDIT>> THe leveling guide posted above shows the OH should be a slow (~2.6) weapon as well. Why is that? Just want big crits/hits? I thought a fast OH would help build rage better.

In patch 2.1, they changed Whirlwind to attack with both weapons instead of one. Because of this, it's a lot like Stormstrike, but without the debuff and to get maximum damage, you use two slow weapons.

I'm getting a second account to level an alt with (actually I would be doing it already, except the WoW box I bought from walmart was opened and someone took the cd's).

Is it faster to kill stuff with your high level main, just to plow through quests? Or does that waste too much XP, and should I just have my main follow my alt to help him with hard mobs/groups/etc?

I use two accounts, but I level two characters together. I only use high levels for instances or really hard quests (rarity ... elite quests usually).

I'd say this... if you don't rely on rested, you'll find that using a main won't be a huge deal, because rested is what really boosts kill exp. But also, if you rely on quest exp only, you'll find yourself plowing through quests faster.

Enhancement is usually preferred for leveling.

I went arms with my ally warrior but I'm doing fury on the horde. I'm not sure though how I'm going to end up exactly with his talent points though as many of the cookie builds has about the same talents spent partially into arms and doesn't get the top fury stuff.

i never do holiday quests, so can someone explain to me the torch thing and why people are making so much gold with it? I'd just like to understand how it all works without having to "discover" it in-game. Just go around retrieving /stealing flames and returning them to quest-givers?

You "Honor" your faction's flames by just talking to the Flame Warden and completing the quest. This gives like 5.5g. You desecrate the opposing faction's flames by simply right clicking on them and completing a quest. This gives about 11g. Note, that you are not put into PVP until you actually complete the quest. To avoid those mean hordies (I've had them sit and wait for me to flag ~_~), I typically mount up and then complete the quest. You can steal the flames, but it's not really worth it as you get some buff foods and only 11g. If you steal all four flames, you can get the Midsummer vanity helm. Overall, you make around 550g doing this.

My guild cleared Lurker and Void Reaver for the first time last night. It was our 3rd raid for Lurker (which honestly is way too long) and Void Reaver was completely impromptu and took us 3 tries. Sure they're the easiest T5 bosses, but we can kill them so we're happy :)

nice man, any tips on Void reaver? We wiped 3 times on him sat. night then the MT left so we had to stop.

Also, i'm looking at getting pve geared, mostly pvp right now. I'm looking at belt, bracers and trinkets right now. I'm using Engraved Cattleman's for belt (hah), Bracers of Recklessness and Bladefist's Breadth/Darkmoon: Wrath as trinkets.

Any advice on upgrades?

For trinkets i'm looking at Hourglass of Unravelling and Abacus of Violent Odds...or maybe i'm fine as is...

So I respec'd for Arena (rogue) doing 0/20/41, but I think I want to change to 20/0/41 because I'm all PVE geared so I dont need the 5% hit, since most of my gear has it. My only PVP items are the 2min cheap trinket, S2 offhand sword, S3 helm, and S2 shoulders. ~130 resiliance.

Does anyone know the general strat for a rogue of that spec in arena? 3v3 (warrior, rogue, priest). To my understanding hemo is my new CP generator with ghostly strike used when they are focusing on me for the +dodge. vanish, premed, cheapshot, kidney shot for a long stun chain. and I can reset my CD's which are nice...

You're a warrior aren't you? What spec? (Arms 2H (33/28/0), Fury (17/44/0), etc) What are your tradeskills? Have you read EJ to look for good trinkets?

Also, there's nothing wrong with PVP gear on a warrior to start out with. I looked around for gear and frankly, S2 is the only gear I can find that's worth a damn. I even compared it to Kara leather (since there's only one piece of plate that can be considered DPS), and the Kara leather isn't really better than S2. My character has significant enough hit so it's no biggie.

Sorry what's EJ? I almost know what that means...lol

I just respecced to 31/30/0 for 2h 5/5 flurry/ms, see how that works! My dps was lacking I felt. I just did BM with a lock, mage and me dpsing and i came in at 22% of the overall damage done. Unacceptable, since they certainly didn't have a gear advantage.

I agree on S2, it's just i'd like a change of pace if there is other comparable gear out there. I have 2/5 S1, 2/5 S2 and other stuff, like Lionheart Champion (1st stage). I'm currently farming fire and water to get the mats for flamebane gloves, which is the only damn orange receipe i have to get my BS up!

Same question for how to play a PVP rogue. I PVP with combat swords and do fine with my capped resilience, but I have been combat for a couple years now. Yes, I just said years. I looked up the top arena rogues and they are all 20/0/41. I haven't got the first clue what to do. WHat weps (& weapon speed) are best for hemo? I suppose it's no longer burst damage we're looking for? What about trying full stunlock (cheapshot/ks/gouge/blind)?

As combat, all I did was go toe-to-toe and didn't even have to do positioning. I want to get to 1600 rating in Arenas (even though I hate it) just to get some s4 bracers.

Where were you running into trouble? Enrage timer? Losing tanks? Orbs taking out dps? Patch 2.4 made him a pita, for some reason he no longer targets people when casting the orbs, still very easy for people who know the fight but his learning curve is certainly steeper now then it was when most guilds were learning it.

IME they all use maces until they get the glaives, and they are all stunlockers. I run tree with ms or lock for 2v2 and stunlock rogues are normally the only class I have problems with- if I can get out of the stunlock chain then we pretty much always win, if I can't, we lose.

Just tried on PTR - after playing a half hour WSG with 20/0/41 Subtlety (for the 1st time), I've found the following:

- hemo is the new sinister strike spam
- my AP increases by about 200 with the same exact gear
- shadowstep is a godsend, if that really needed to be said
- cheat death roxors (even with the nerf)

Still need to figure out a good rotation for stuns and gaining combo points in the best way. Need to learn when to use Ghostly Strike. Not sure if I'm supposed to use premeditation on every fight. I guess with subt I have to pick my fights? It feels like a whole new game rather than just SS spam.

I would assume you use ghostly strike in conjuction with evasion when they FF you to make your dodge go way up.

It's kind of counter-intuitive, but as a hemo rogue your most important function is going to be CC, not DPS. The general strategy is to get their healer to blow their pvp trinket with focused dps, then switch dps to the squishiest member of their team and cc their healer with blind and vanish > sap and whatever CC's your teammates have.

You lack burst as hemo, so unless the other dps on your team has burst (meaning you run with a mage), then the only way to beat an equally skilled and geared team is CC'ing the healer. There's no way you're going to take anyone out in a single stunlock unless they have no resilliance and really low HP.

As far as weapon type, it doesn't matter if you're ass/sub. Your offhand needs to be a fast as possible to lower the energy cost of shiv.

so confusing. I need an EJ roguecraft for PVP.

is shiv or hemo better, when do you use ghostly strike, should I CC + DPS healer, or just CC and FF a squishy.

Arena is tough when you are used to raiding as a rogue for the past 3 years.

Mashing your face against the keyboard is the favored tactic for rogues these days. If you want to kill more than 8 people at once, skill might play a part.

Saw this posted in a thread on the wow forums that's getting a bunch of talk

1 - Heroic dungeons will be made slightly easier, at least devs are going to make sure you don't necessarily need a specific class like a prot warrior to complete it.
2 - Some dungeons were too long in Burning Crusade and completing a dungeon shouldn't take more than an hour.

I don't know how someone would complain about #1. I've always said that outside of raids, the ability to complete anything in game should be talent point irrelevant.

For #2, I'm thinking that's a good thing, particularly how long it often takes to get a group going. What really was odd is that the guy that starts the moaning about these changes then says he wants more dungeons to be like BRD. What the hell is that idiot thinking. If you picked up all the BRD quest you could easily spend 6+ hours in there, particularly if doing the ally Ony chain (never did horde version so not sure the involvement there). Hell, I remember before they starting neutering most of the old instances that we'd run them as raids and even then they'd take about 2 hours for an average and more with a bunch of newbs or a couple wipes.

Got Kil'Jaeden to 5% last night, and this is with an undergeared/experienced Ret Paladin who swapped from holy when our former ret paladin quit. WTB an experienced ret paladin!

I disagree. With my schedule, I do not have time to run 5 mans that are as long as BRD unless I make plans ahead of time to do them on a Saturday afternoon and even then that would mean I am ignoring my wife and kid because they took so damn long. Now, I am able to dedicate time even on a week day. Short instances work out great for all players rather than just those with more flexible schedules and ultimately more time on their hands.
