SoC spam is done on the one elite mob such that the adds are hit when they spawn. I.E. in the fashion of illihoof. When tanking I can hit thunderclap to keep them there long enough for the soc to hit them. Anythign that survives is taken out on the way back to the ranged group.

This was also done in an all ranged group, no melee besides tank. With a melee in the group you are way better off letting them take adds while the ranged take down the elite. otherwise they are basically useless because that dot can really really hurt, 1000DPS at full stack.

EDIT: By the way 90% of the damage done during the fight is physical. The knockback from ahune if youre in melee range, and the random target frost shock thing he does are the only two elemental damage.

I dont' normally do the seasonal stuff, but this one does not require much prereqs or running around. The fight is also really fun, especially on heroic.

Ahh okay, I got'cha now... sounds good to me. Yeah, when I did it the rogue was fighting the big elite, which was a bit silly (and probably why he died before the second phase on the first attempt :p). He should've easily been able to take out the adds.

There are really no prereqs for this fight. You can just walk right into Slave Pens and get the quest to summon Ahune. Although, I think you're supposed to do those quests near BFD... maybe Blizzard forgot to link them properly (or left them that way after the 2.4.0 PTR that had Ahune on it). The quest chain is ridiculously easy though... and you get to turn into a crab! :D

Well, it looks like my Alliance PvE guild has finally folded. I guess the slackers who couldn't take down the constructs/avoid the Archi fire forced a few too many to basically quit/transfer/etc. So, I've decided to go back to what I truly enjoy... PvP.

I just transfered my horde/undead shadow priest over to Mal'Ganis. Are any of you guys on this server? This is the one where I started at launch so I decided to head back home. If you see a little skeleton dude named Glamdring running for his life give me a shout. :)

And IMO item swapping during combat shouldn't be allowed. Except as maybe a talent? Quick Hands, Organized Backpack or such, lol :)

:(

I like being able to swap to a spell damage weapon as a resto druid mid battle. That is a part of what allows classes to be hybrid.

isn't that why the put 1/3+ dmg on healing weapons though? but i still see what you mean since its not point for point

Ya, that was part of it but that change was more because we are not permitted to switch out other gear mid battle. Weapon switching wasn't enough to make a class feel like a hybrid so they added the dmg to all healing gear.

It's mainly to provide healing characters with gear that lets them solo as the original +healing gear didn't do a great job at that :p.

I'm in Mal'ganis' battlegroup. Who are you so I can look for you in AV. ;)

Anyway, tomorrow (6/24) is a big day for me, gear wise...

Rogue gets s4 war edge to reach res cap (couldn't get enough honor to get the bigger dmg s1 war edge)
Warlock gets s2 spellblade, s2 OH, s3 ring to reach res cap (47k honor grind recently)

Too bad I hate arenas and this will never be put to actual use. Oh well, this game is all about reaching personal goals I guess. But once again I'll have no more goals for the foreseeable future.

I do have mostly s1/s2 and I looked up all the stats that I would increase by and it is by no chance worth the effort to go up any, especially because I'm at the cap. To gain 5 stam, 4 agi, 3 crit... that sort of stuff is not worth 15k honor, or a few weeks of arena frustration. Already have the Battlemaster trinket but in BGs I'm stacking res trinkets instead.

BoJ gear, definitely worthwhile.. but I can only do that during raid nights or heroic dailys to make it worthwhile. I'm only willing to run like 4 heroic instances that are worth it. I only began doing the res / BG thing because I had so much time not doing BoJ stuff.

Due to some unexpected travel I took a couple weeks off and just got back to playing last week. I see that the new season starts today (although my lock is only about 1/2 to the honor cap as I've started spending time getting my pally to L35 so he can start DEing the bags of greens I have).

Did manage to finish my drake and am flying around on a violet now. Even donating a thousand or so gold to alts and keeping tailor/FA/cook skills leveling with the char I had over 2k left on this char; and that's with only doing the drake dailies so you could easily have more. Will be interested in seeing if any economy changes come next expansion.

Looks like there will be some type of mini patch coming ouit today too? Anyone have a listing of the changes (or have they fixed it and the main wow forums manage to stay up during maintenance/patch time?)

The patch notes are further back in this thread lupi.

On a pleasant note: i had my first taste of Kara last night! 5 attempts on the Prince and we downed him :) My dps was lacking but I came fairly close behind a better geared ret. pally and easily beat the other dps warrior so I don't feel too bad. The freakin top two dps, ele shaman and shadow priest in t6, had 1000dps...man. Mine was 340 :( But that's 100k damage!!

Anyway, pally heal gear dropped, 3 epics, and the 3 BoJ. It was a fun time, probably 90 mins or so.

The wipes were caused by bad placement of infernals and/or the group not moving away from them quickly enough.

Finally got a group that could actually kill Ahune last night on my priest. All I can say is... for the love of all that is holy... stop standing in the fucking glaciers!! I can't exactly cast fade constantly after a large heal, which pulls the adds to me like drunken frat boys to the sight of a passed out cutie virgin. Also, if you're a frost mage, don't even come... srsly. We got him to maybe 55% after the first submerge with the frost mage. When the mage disconnected after a wipe or two, we brought in a Warlock and we got him to 20% after the first submerge. The lock pet was also handy at getting add attention too. Oh another note... don't pull the huge elemental toward the group ~_~.

I ended up getting the caster and healer cloak... I still want to go for the enchant and also go on my mage to pick up whatever I can get my grubby little gnomish hands on.

EDIT:

One thing I'm wondering is... what class did Blizzard design that scythe for anyway? A weapon that has good stam and int... lots of spell crit... good damage and mp/5 ? Turn the mp/5 into spell hit and maybe half the crit into spell haste (or more hit) and you'd have a sweet staff.

But honestly, I shouldn't be surprised. I mean, look at half the gear in dungeons and even Karazhan... the stats are usually leaning to one thing. The mail gear would be nice for Enhancement Shamans... if we actually needed mp5. It's nice how there's so little plate DPS gear until you can get tier gear or get higher than Karazhan. They really can't "fix" the problem now because of all the gear that's already out there. The idea of gems is nice, but what I hate about gems are that you get loot and then have to spend money on enchants and then gems. The true reason is to lessen the amount of work on making items and make players spend more money. Keep the ol' wheels of the economy a spinnin'.

After reading the patch stuff for the first time, here's my comments.

Mounts at 30, yeah! Good for altoholics (like me whom has all of them just under 30 at the moment; not sure if the cost reduction will enable a new player to get it right at 30 unless he does some budgeting before hand.

Racing rams?

Growl nerf, I imagine that is in response to some super geared peeps able to solo more than they should? otherwise, ruh-roh shaggy.

Yeah, Fel armor can't go away, Mage armor, not as good  :)

Cheat Death: eat that one %$#^^%.

COE/COS change, sounds good to me. Frees a button spot up.

Hah, I knew that green gems from mining got fubared last time they adjusted it. (Hopefully they won't realize that nethercite is giving buttloads of blues still though)

Mooncloth c/d gone, small yeah. Ungo stuff into herbie bags, good thing. New tailor stuff from tanaris, wonder if it's any good?

Stopwatch, very interesting.

Tab target friendlyies, very nice for the healers.

Hoping my interface doesn't go kablooew when I log on.

Interesting the fixes/adjustments still going on for old world quest.

AQ war turn in fixed, can anyone still do this quest or is it for post gate opening?

destro locks are just eating up the badge gear that's the same way (though no mp5)...

Stam, int, crit, no hit.

Well, I look at those and see "+spell hit gem" when I see the yellow gem slot. Also, if you're getting badge gear, I really hope you have something better than the staff as it's a little below the item level of some of the Karazhan staves.

Maybe the best change to that staff would be just getting rid of the mp5 and putting in a gem slot or two?

The biggest problem with mp5 if you dont need it is that it eats up a LOT of itemization points.

Honestly with that gear, anybody who can reliably complete the even...doesn't need the gear
