eyefinity currently is a guarenteed CTD in BC2, they broke it sometime ago because it worked at launch![]()
OK...i OFFICIALLY give up, i can't even get steady 40FPS at the lowest possibly resolution in medium settings, holy ****.
Uninstalled.
This is with my e8400@3.3 and my GTX460@800/1000.
1680x1050/medium/1xAA/4xAF/HBAO off
Min Max Avg
31 53 42.017
1680x1050/high/4xAA/8xAF/HBAO on
Min Max Avg
32 56 42.75
1920x1080/high/4xAA/16xAF/HBAO on
Min Max Avg
34 55 42.767
I ran these two times, because I couldn't believe the results. I figured it was user error. Apparently it wasn't. This is all on the same level, same server, within a 5-minute span. You can see I'm completely CPU-limited.
Now, just because the above results are so hard to believe, here are some more examples on a different level/server.
1280x720/1xAA/4xAF/medium/HBAO off
Min Max Avg
31 55 43.733
1680x1050/1xAA/4xAF/medium/HBAO off

1920x1200/8xAA/16xAF/high/HBAO on

user error bra
Can anyone tell me how to fix this game so I can play the damn thing?! I can stay on a server for a maximum of 2 or 3 minutes before I get disconnected.
"You have been disconnected, check your network settings" or something like that.
I've already added an exception to my DEP for the game, manually updated PB...
With the below listed rig, I run BBC2 at 1920x1200 with no problems at all. I do run 'GameBooster' just before playing...
Anyone having crashing issues lately? I have not played for a few weeks but tonight I tried and after anywhere from 15 - 45 min my PC locks up with a looping sound and stays that way until I hard reset. I dropped my CPU down to stock and upped the fan speed on my 6970 so that I never went above 80c load (normal is 89-90c) and I still crashed. I'm somewhat confused what the problem is, even new vegas is more stable than this as that only crashes every few hours.
I had that happen quite a bit when my Ati drivers were crashing. Same looping sound. Have you let it go for a minute or two? The Ati driver may eventually reset, which will bring you back to the desktop. Besides the CPU overclock, make sure your memory is at default timings and voltage (1.5v?).
By the way, 90C is very high for an HD6970, isn't it? Link: http://www.anandtech.com/show/4209/amds-radeon-hd-6990-the-new-single-card-king/18
unless you state otherwise, "no problems at all" tells us nothing other than that you might be able to tolerate 30fps averages
and even if you still somehow manage to perform at an elite level with such limiting hardware, that doesn't mean you wouldn't be even better with a rig that could net you no less than 60fps.
Found the answer to my problem here, it's apparently PB not getting along with GPU monitoring software.

As for the temp yes, 90c is high, but not outside of "norms" for a poorly cooled case. My P180 does not do a good job of feeding this hot card enough air so I will be upgrading cases come summer. It's about time anyway as I have one of the original P180's from MANY moons ago.
Yeah, DUH, sorry...
Just ran FRAPS...
Settings:
1920x1200 / details- medium / AA- 2x / Anisotr- 4x
on Atacama/ship...lots of action...full 32 server
frapslog- 53fps
Decent number for a 775/Core 2 duo E8400 at 3.0 stock?
damn you PB
does CPU-Z get in the way?

Guys,
I've been playing BC2 since it was released a year ago. Never had any issues whatsoever and had a couple of hardware changes as well (CPU & GPU). No issues at all.
However, today, for the very first time, I was playing Vietnam for about an hour when the game suddenly crashed to the desktop (CTD)!
At first, I thought I was "kicked" from the server and went "WTF"! I restarted the game and tried to join the same server, got to the loading screen and then again crashed to desktop! Then, I tried to join a different server, same thing. I got really worried so I restarted my computer and everything seems to be fine so far however I have no idea why the game suddenly CTD'd.
Here is the crashreport.xml:
Does anyone else have this CTD issue? And, what can you make of the xml file above? I have been running BC2 on the very highest of settings for months on end with no glitch or hiccup at all. I am dismayed that this CTD is happening but hopefully someone can help me figure it out.
