Boo for no Steam Overlay. Also, booo for the friends list being borked.
don't worry about that..that would get scrubbed when beta ends and retail begins.

I got into the game last night and have a few questions and comments...
Does anyone know if there is a way to tell your fps? I am checking on how crappy or decent my system is running at medium settings.
Apparently no internal switch for this. Most people using FRAPS. I've seen Xfire suggested as a possibility too. Not tested by me.
yes FRAPS is free. If you have a G15, there's a program that will allow you to watch the FPS roll by on the LCD screen once you install FRAPS. And you can use that program to make screenshots and short vids.
Yeah be warned though recording video while you're playing is a pretty big hit to performance.
umm you dont have to record video, it can just show fps
I believe he was just making the point that if one chooses to record video it comes at a cost
That it does. I've found that xfire's video record function does a better job IMO of keeping performance good in game while recording.
I'll second your statement re: the sounds. I think they're the best battle sounds I've heard in a military-style FPS.Yep. Even on servers with a good ping I just rubberband around everywhere. I managed to get about 5 minutes of lag-free play in and it was very good, although I miss prone.
I wouldn't say it feels exactly like a PC battlefield game (this might just be lack of prone and the different game mode), but that's what BF3 is for I guess. Either way, it should be lots of fun. And the sounds are EXCELLENT ^_^
Edit: At 1920*1080 on the system in my sig it's fairly smooth maxed with 4xAA/16xAF. If I turn off AA and HBAO it never slows down. AA only seems to work on some things too, like it smooths out my gun but anything that shares a border with the sky seems to be jaggy still.

Also, for the folks who have tried th recon class, what are your thoughts on the sniper scope being hazy around the edges...
Playing last night and having only 1/3 of the scope in focus on top of the random fog / snow / obstruction made it friggin hard as hell to get accurate shots on moving targets!

When you next start BFBC2 you should get this message (Steam users can update through Steam). If you have trouble updating by running the game itself go to \Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield Bad Company 2 - BETA and run BFBC2BetaUpdater.exe as Administrator.
PATCH is up and running.
so far, i'm not too impressed. infantry vs infantry combat has nothing on MW. there's something odd about mouse movement, something is not smooth about it.
I have to say I far prefer the infantry combat in this, people die far too fast in MW.
