Well, I decided I'd try to reinstall steam first...bad move.
Now I can't even login. Everytime I click "login to existing account", the program freezes, followed by it crashing. I've run prime all day, so stability is not an issue. Now I can't even bench. Any suggestions?

Go to steampowered.com there is some registry in steam you need to delete...sign back in and it will do updates again and be all good. Wish I remembered exactly but post a thread...someone will tell you.

That's the problem. I can't sign in. It locks up before I get to do so. Deleting the ClientRegistry.blob file as per suggested on the forums/support page just causes steam to update and then continue freezing. I haven't made any changes to my system.

Maybe we should start collecting data on the overclocks these Semprons provide? How many we got on the forums thus far? I'll have mine next Tuesday, barring unforseen disasters.
And, Budman, may all your future chips overclock like mad. I would say that 2.4ghz isn't bad, but the voltage is a tad high.

For now I banished the sempron to the server box & reinstalled my A64 2800+ ,it oc just as good & has 512k with 64 bit support for the soon to be released XP64.
my bad OC might have to do with my Enermax EG365P-VE but 26a on the +12V should be plenty....

Nah, I think your PSU should be fine. Is your 12v line steady? I'm using the Enermax EG465P-VE Whisper II. Great unit. Sorry to hear yours doesn't make it as high as mine.
DrMrLordX - I had plans to start a poll on the 90nm semprons, but it seems as if Budman and I are the only ones who own one of these, asides from the few that purchased them in the original hot deals thread that do not venture into our CPU/overclocking forum.

A fresh install of windows fixed the steam problem. There was probably a more simpler answer, but whatever works, right? I installed windows at my overclocked settings. It installed extremely fast. I think it took somewhere around only 10 minutes, not including the two minutes to copy the setup files. Now that I'm back up and running, I'm going to get back to the bottom of my strange 16x12 scores.

I installed and ran Doom3 just to make sure everything was working alright. Everything appears to be. My score increases are what I expected. At 10x7, I see excellent gains. At 12x10, my gains are much smaller, as in 16x12, but they do exist. This is what I was expecting in HL2. Perhaps steam was going quirky on me and caused my weird HL2 results. I'm going to rebench it now that I know things are working properly.

Your doom3 scores seem a little off to me as well, I get 43 fps on the "timedemo demo1 1" with 2xAA and 8xAF on through the game @ 1600*1200 HQ, but I don't have a 16 pipe card either. I suppose you might be memory bandwidth limited on the video card at that point. Just for giggles, could you run w/o the extreme AA and AF and see what happens?

On the chaintech my +12v was always steady but on this board it's 11.71 idle & 11.65v full load.
At 2.2ghz i can run fine with default cpu voltage but whenever i try to OC further to 2.4ghz and add a little vcore in the mix Poof the system just turn off, no blue screen no prime error it just turn off.
I even took out my 9800 pro card and 1 hd and sound card I even took out 1 stick of ram hoping less power draw would do the trick just to see but it still shuts off on full load when overclocking.
I guess I will start saving my pennies for a new psu,as for now with the purchase of a new mobo/cpu I am pretty much out of cash for now.
It's looking more & more like a power problem.

Just for kicks I went in the bios & put my cpu voltage at 1.70v while not touching the FSB.
Then I booted windows (took 3 tries) and sure enough starting prime95 shuts down the pc.
same speed but 1.50v = stable but 1.70 = auto shut down,and not it's not the thermal protection kicking in because it's off.
So I guess my Enermax 350 watts with 26a on +12v just cant cut it.
Update: I flashed the bios back to the old original one & at least now the pc doesnt shut itself off when I try to OC, But i still cant do much.

Also...looks like no HL2 benchmarks. I didn't want to download HL2 again, so I placed my old steam GCF files for HL2 into the Steam directory. Steam took a royal crap after that. It kept locking up. I reinstalled it, and now I am back to square one. Steam freezes when I try to go to "Login to existing account". The answer to my error code in support is that I have a virus. I can assure them I do not, unless Steam counts as a virus. It sucks enough to be one.
Budman: Sorry to hear your PSU seems to be limiting you. I thought it seemed a bit odd that both your CPUs overclocked the same. Grab a 460w Enermax Whisper II like I did, for $80. It's silent, and has 33A on the 12v rail. I never dip under 11.97v under prime and rthdibl running at the same time.

Buggeritall. I'm not sure how many people we'll see adopting these chips, what with people bagging on socket 754 all the time.
Given your success OCing the chip, it should generate some interest. Too bad Steam is being bitchy. Good Doom3 benches, though.

Yeah, I can't figure steam out. Steam forum support seems to be suggesting that I've got infected files on my computer, but my AV software shows that isn't the case. Anywho, I just got done formatting again. Steam is working for the moment. I'll just re-download HL2 overnight, and hopefully all will be well. I should get to work on some updated FC benches.
I wish more people would realize that they don't have to go s939. I think for non PCI-e users, s754 with a DFI and a Lancaster/Palermo is the way to go. Dual channel for s939 is overrated, plus there are no outstanding boards. I'm sure I'll get some flak for saying that, but I dislike the MSI boards, and the recent Epox boards have been bugging me with the lack of voltage monitoring. The DFI for $100 just can't be beat, unless they port it over to AGP s939.
I agree, and I think 754 will be even sweeter when people start dumping them and AGP cards stop holding value since they are old news...good price performance ratio there.
My Newcastle running 2.5 prime stable is faster than almost any 939 system available for 140 + 85.
With the new chips coming out like you say...why would I want to go 939...unless support for the platform totally goes away but it is good enough. Video card support will be the biggest hurdle if they stop supporting AGP. PCIe holds no performance increase...YET. It will because you could lower the amount of RAM used if written correctly in the game.
I will be through 4 system upgrades by then.
