how many times do they need to do it?

do you sincerely think they haven't

are you dumb enough to ASSUME they do agree with what was done in the name of Osama Bin Laden

You demand way too much.. I will bet you demand far more of others than you do yourself

Your pathetic generalities and labeling are what create all of these situations in the world

--- Every Muslim better come out and tell the world they don't support Osama Bin Laden or you will think they do?

You're ASSUMPTIONS are making you look goofy!

I demand nothing and everyone whom knows me will say I'm about the most easy going person you'll find........

Would it be SO difficult for the Muslim churches here in the USA to release a message which represents all US Muslim churches apologizing and denouncing what took place on 9/11/01 in their name? Germany did it to the whole world!

I believe the image burned into a lot of minds here in the USA are the videos from several countries of Muslims dancing in the streets......a condemnation from the US Muslims of the actions of 9/11 would go A LONG way in earasing that image.

Oh, and BTW, I do know quite a few Muslims locally and we have talked about this very subject.......they agree, it would be a good move.......problem is they say, not all agree so it hasn't happened.

What should I do if I disagree with the mass murder in Iraq with weapons built to defend me with my money

When the Iraqi Mother who just lost every living relative and child and newborn to a US bomb/missile shall I say "UN Resolutions"

You and I and your family and my family are all responsible for every action done by our government.. especially overseas where there should be much greater transparency ..

why have I not shown you or directed you to links showing US Muslims denouncing the attacks of 9/11 ... because you told me they aren't there

Fixed for accuracy.

Still not sure how building a place of worship is illegal, as long as they get appropriate permits and the like. Why do you hate our laws?

And as a corrected above, 99% of Muslim are law-abiding, lust like Christians, Buddhists, Hindus, and atheists. You have a problem with freedom to practice a religon of your choice?

By your logic, we might as well condemn all of AT members as racists, based on the few members that actually post racist garbage.

At the same time, that group who had this wonderful idea should at least be mindful and respectful of the events that occurred in that area. After all, the whole fvckin world has to respect their religion in other parts of the world, even if if Islam is not the practiced by the majority of the citizens in that country (i.e., Denmark, France, Switzerland or any other country that has had 'Islam' issues)...

I am pretty damn sure they realize what happened in that area...and yet they still want to build their mosque there...This should demonstrate how much respect they have for this country...

How many Muslims do you know or communicate with verbally or nonverbally on a regular basis?

and Christians? How many Christians do you know or communicate with verbally or nonverbally on a regular basis?

Muslims: Every business day + some weekends for the guys I hang out with (kinda annoying going out to eat with them because they are uber picky, btw).

Christians: most of my family + some of my friends.

The point is not my anecdotal evidence, but if you ask ANY of the Christians I know, they will be like "wtf, Pat Robertson is a stupid quack moron, dont even pay him attention". It's a strong reaction. Mention OBL or terrorism to my muslim friends, you don't get a strong reaction. They just say "you wouldnt understand".

I know that when someone I am affiliated with does something heinous, I'm going to distance myself from that person so everyone knows that I do not agree with <insert thing here> and make sure that their actions do NOT reflect my values.

OK.......try to listen this time.......ready?

I never said some Muslims here in the USA haven't apologized and condemed, denounced what took place. I've talked to many whom have myself and I applaud them for that! Now......here's the part you keep missing.......what I'm saying, and quite a few Muslim's I know agree, the Muslim church as a whole in the USA could have come forward with an apology, have it broadcast (media would have been all over it anyway) to the citzens of this country and quite honestly, it would have gone a LONG way to strengthen ties with Muslim's here in this country. BUT, they never have, and according to those I speak with/have spoken to about this, it never will happen because there is no agreement to come forward and do this from the heirarchy of the church..........

Muslims in America and across the world denounced the attacks on 9/11. Just because they didn't call you up the day of the attacks and asked how you would prefer they formatted their statements doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Link

There were enough statements released by Muslim groups and high-ranking officials worldwide denouncing the attacks of 9/11 to keep you busy reading for the next hour.

Hopefully these groups have hired a good PR firm, so next time there is an attack, they can release a Michael Bay-esque feel-good infomercial (complete with slo-mo zoom-ins and an Aerosmith soundtrack) denouncing the attackers and making you feel warm and cuddly inside.

So in your opinion, is opening this mega mosque on 09/11 near where the old WTC stood disrespectful to the United States or not?

A simple yes or no answer will suffice.

Has anyone in this whole thread given a clear reason why it is disrespectful. If you haven't I invite you to give a clear and unemotional and unbiased explanation as to why it is disrespectful for a Muslim "CHURCH" to be built right by the WTC

Did ISLAM bring down the towers or did

Osama bin laden and
hate
anger
VENGEANCE??

If I was a young Iranian.. who had just voted for the man the USA and Britain REMOVED and If I knew the man who was there was a paid stooge for the USA and Britain to use to Oppress me and my people I would potentially want to kill anyone who even had the slightest amount of connection to the dirty deeds done to my people at the hands of the USA and British

How about you.. would you fight back or hand Uncle Sam some Vaseline so when he is fucking you and your country out of their freedom to choose it at least might not rip your perineum

Apparently you have no idea what disrespect is. If I crapped on your mom's grave every year on the day that she died, can you give a clear reason why it's disrespectful?

And yes, when they did it in the name of islam, it became about muslims.

Are you saying that the crusades were simply a string of people who were criminals, and no church was involved?

Sigh....if you can't see why this is disrespectful to this country, there is no point in continuing this discussion. It doesn't matter if peaceful or radical Islams brought down the towers or not.

The fact is that there are many emotions tied to that site, whether right, wrong or indifferent. A decent human being, Islam or not, should be respectful to the citizens of that area, especially given the significance of what happened there. Obviously, they don't give a shit about what Americans think or they wouldn't have even considered building it there, much less opening it on 09/11...opening it on that date is pure bullshit...are they really trying to rub salt in the wound??

It's not disrespectful.

If anything, it's American.

Making a direct comparison between Muslims and feces. :hmm:

I wonder why Arabs and various other brown people don't feel welcome in the US. I just can't put my finger on it. Does anyone know? It's not like the country is filed with racists, so wtf? I just don't get it.

What? We befriended Osama and Sadaam at one time. I have no idea what your thread has to do with a mosque going up in NYC, but please enlighten me. Maybe if they stop blowing themselves up and killing innocent people everyday, they may find they can have friends instead of enemies.

That's how I see it. This is about respect for the lives lost there. If they wanted to build a help center or something like a community center, fine thats cool. But to build a mosque, knowing whether, true or not, thousands were killed by those faithful to a mosque, just doesn't sit right with me. This whole thing just seems dirty and underhanded. And I hope it doesn't go up.

I've got no reason to take up for Muslims, and don't necessarily think this is in good taste (without hearing the Muslim side of the story) but the fact that we are allowing them to build this mosque is what makes this country is so damn great.

Why is this an issue? I like how the author acts like it's an outrage that should be obvious to anyone.

No, its only an outrage to those who know what the definition of respecting others is.

Funny how Muslims want the entire world to respect their traditions but yet the Muslims who are building this mosque cannot respect the feelings of others. In fact, it is almost like they want to rub our noses in the dirt by opening it on 09/11. I wonder why they chose that date? Is there some special Muslim holiday or something they want to celebrate?

Oh, I dislike them killing my fellow citizens, so it's racist!

You can love thy terrorist all you like, most of us don't and are offended by rubbing our nose in the fact that they killed thousands of our people in the name of Islam.

Muslims building a mosque adjacent to Ground Zero shows how great we really are. I'm no fan of Islam but the fact is that religious freedom is a tenet of our society and we are better off for it. It's PR gold too. The average Muslim on the street in the Middle East SEES that we are so free that we have a mosque at Ground Zero.
