If there have been screenings for critics, how come only 4 people got to see it?

Are these reviews for real?

FWIW: I am not reading them. I am going to see the movie unless it gets horrible reviews (when there are 100 of them). And if it is bad, I will have to acquire it through other means that do not cost me $10 for a ticket and $10 for popcorn.

China is a large market and only allows a handful of foreign movies in each year. Something like 32 total. One criteria is that the movies have to have asian characters. If you don't include asian actors, you have a near zero chance to get into the China market.

Racist bastards.

Whatever, 8.0 on IMDB so far. T2 is one of my favorite movies of all time (an actually good movie), and I thought T3 (fun action) was OK for what it was. Didn't even bother watching 'T'4.

Shit, if it has Arnold as a Terminator, and brings back the old style T-1000, I'm going to watch this movie regardless of the reviews.

Good. RT is now up to 33% from 19%.

The reviews I read seem to indicate that Genisys is better than T3 and T4 but not as good as T1 and T2.

You can't compare Terminator 1/2 with anything. People should compare this to 3/4

being "better" than 3 would be enough to make it worth some time, and maybe some money.

being better than 4 is no real achievement. That is the default status of any project on the first day of principal shooting. (yes, that means it takes some serious fuckups between shooting and editing to ruin any produced script which is, by definition, already better than T4)

Given the bad run of recent reboots/sequels, I don't expect much from this, but I'll still watch it when it is released on disc.

The positive reviews are pouring in!

"somehow, this all kind of, sort of works. Barely."

What rousing recommendations...

Here's the complete quote.

I realize that everything in the previous paragraph sounds stupid. But, again, the characters almost treat it as such, so, somehow, this all kind of, sort of works. Barely.

And one thing in that review I wholeheartedly agree with. If you haven't seen the trailer, then don't watch it. It gives FAR too much of the plot away.

Personally, I recommend watching all the trailers and other clips from the movie, so you can save your hard earned money at the theater, and have a good laugh at the same time.

Woo hooo. 40% on RT now! 4 positive and 6 negative.

"A little surprise insert during the end titles suggests that a follow-up to Terminator: Genisys is already intended by its makers. "
Sounds like there is something after the credits.

The thing is, they are comparing it to 1 and 2. Of course it can't be better. It's a loosing proposition.
They could make a movie as good as the first two if they put some real talent behind the project, but this has lifeless cash grab written all over it. That said, I don't think Cameron is the right man for the job either.

All you have to do to see that the movie sucks is look at the blurbs at the end of the trailer. I couldn't find a full trailer with the blurbs online but iirc there are only 3 and I don't think any of them are from major publications. One is from Camerron - that's how desperate they were for something good to say about the movie.

If one watches any cable TV channels, I'd have to say that it is "almost" impossible to have not viewed the numerous trailers by now Eug!

Ok,

I saw this movie last night at the premiere in Norway. This is what i thought.

The first 40 minutes were really enjoyable for an old fan like myself. Great scenes from the future war, good memories and reenactments from the first movie. Then it gravitates away from that and just turns into a popcorn action flick. I enjoyed this movie much more than Terminator 3 and Salvation.

However the films after T:2, genisys included, never managed to capture the urgency, darkness or dread of the first two films. T1 and T2 were born in a time where directorts didn't feel compelled to inject in comedy to give the audience a laugh. And for those wondering, yes, i did laugh at some of Arnolds jokes in Genisys.

Most action film these days feel they need to add in some soap opera and comedy to make a film work. Not having those thing is what made the Terminator "A killing machine" in the first place.

So Genisys get a 7/10 from me. Good effort and it was a fun ride. They get an extra 0.5 points for the great war scenes and the 80's flash back at the start of the movie.

Easily the best "3rd" terminator movie. I'll be picking this up on Blu-Ray when it's available. (I don't own 3 or 4.)

It's being shown in Norway already? Shit! I have to wait till Wednesday!
Ah :).

Well it's a good flick. You will enjoy it. I'm a massive T1 and T2 fan and thought this was a worthy 3rd film.

Just don't be like the crazies and expect it to be better than T1 and T2. It's better than T3 and T4 though in my oppinion.

Fuck's sake. I agree, we don't need to be laughing at arnold's lines in a terminator movie as homage to the original. What shit.

Only 40% on rotten :(

Seems to be going up. Was only 33% yesterday. Realistically I'd say it should stop at about 60%.

I think it will end up with 6.5 on imdb.

Which isn't too bad for the 5th installment of a movie franchise.
