Maybe/maybe not, he's publicly panned 3 and 4.
If that's true, then he lied about Terminator 3 being great when it was released, which is why I said his endorsement means pants. Not that I'm a James Cameron fan anyway, so it's all just a laugh for me. All I'm hoping, is that it's as bad as it looks in the trailers, as it's sometimes fun to watch a disaster with so much money behind it. Also, looking up the credits, I see it's directed by the same guy that brought us the awful Thor sequel.

Anyway, I'm not trying to shit on anyone's excitement, I just think the trailers make this out to be the worst big budget movie in many, many years.

You don't want much do you?
I've watched both trailers like 6 times, I don't know why, but I'm fascinated by how terrible they are. I think I might be disappointed if the movie is good, and I'm not sure I've ever felt that way before.

James Cameron says this is the real Terminator 3. Arnold apparently thinks Salvation was shit.

I don't get the hate directed at Terminator 3. I mean it wasn't as amazing of 2, but come on. It was a respectable entry. Most critics agree.

But then again we seem to live in an era now where everything is either SPINE TINGLING AMAZING or OMFG WTF BBQ GOD AWFUL SAUCE.

I miss back when we had a middle ground. :'(

Not me. I actually really enjoyed Salvation. :colbert:

I thought it was good too - you simply can't repeat T2, so do your own thing. It stayed in the universe and was interesting imo. Heck, I liked T:SCC also. 😛

I've never watched T3 except for a few minutes here and there though, ha. The casting alone on that was irritating. Seriously, just exterminate all humans at that point...

You may be right, he could have just been being nice at the time - plus he didn't want anything to do with it. Since then though, he's said he didn't like either of them.

He posted that comment on April 20th. So hopefully, between then and now, he has had the opportunity to see Mad Max and will now reassess that statement.

....and no way this flick is going to be a better action movie than Mad Max. I predict shaky cam, tight camera angles of elbows punching something, and lots of cartoons passing for effects.

No matter how long I've been on the internet, I still always forget to check post dates every once in a while. Still though, HAS HE SEEN IT?!

T1 => Sci-fi classic
T2 => Incredible action movie that draws you into caring about the characters.
T3 => T2 but you could care less for the characters
T4 => T2 but you could care less for the characters

- or stated otherwise -

T1 => Sci-fi classic
T2 => Incredible action movie that draws you into caring about the characters. (so a very well done action-drama with sci-fi backdrop)
T3 => good action movie
T4 => good action movie

The thing is, T3 and T4 are just special effects demos. Kinda like most comic book based movie these days.

For me Salvation > 3. Sorry, just the way it is. I can't put my finger on why, but I just don't like it.

Salvation had some good things going for it too. Getting to see a post Judgment Day setting and early T-600's and resistance life was interesting and the slow burn and development up to the unveil of the T-800 was great. Marcus was a great character with a great actor playing him. He almost succeeds in carrying the film. Had they not spoiled the fact that he himself was a machine in the trailers and left that for a shock reveal in the movie, I'd dare say I would have regarded the film as favorable. There was even a moral buried in all the explosions about not always disregarding your fellow man for the bottom line and meeting your goal, which is a sorely needed lesson these days. There were clearly a lot of great ideas here.

But there just weren't enough things I liked about it. I didn't like that they gave a "face" and "voice" to the machines. Much like the Borg in Star Trek, they were scarier when they were a faceless collective conscious you couldn't talk to or reason with. Just an uncompromising, calculating consciousness determined to end your way of life and/or existence.

Back in the days, when every movie with Arnold in it was a action packed movie, A science fiction movie with Arnold was even better. But i do think that Arnold does not hold the exclusive right to a good terminator movie. I enjoyed terminator salvation but that was more because it was a movie with more different scenes. I too found the setting in the future very refreshing for the terminator story. As was the Marcus character very entertaining.
I get a bit bored by the idea of again a terminator movie with again a chase and a desperate attempt to stay alive. I will however rent it when it comes out.

I like all the Terminator movies. I liked Salvation for the A-10's and the mean looking T-600. I bought a T-600 Salvation cup at 7-11 when the movie came out.
