Terminator Genisys

Terminator salvation was mediocre IMO.

All they had to do was make a movie around the flashback scenes in T1/T2, thats it, make a movie that looks a bit like that and it would have been better. :colbert:

Excited for this new one though.

I don't know why, but for some reason, I like watching Terminator Salvation. I agree that it's not a very good movie, but I've actually watched it more than once and that was on purpose. D:
 
I hate how Sam Worthington sounds when he shouts and yells. THat's honestly the worst part of the movie for me. And I thought Moon Bloodgood was completely wasted and unnecessary.

BTW, I hated T4. I thought even T3 was much better.

I'm trying not to completely give up on the film, but the trailers kinda suck and at the same time reveal too much information, so I'm losing hope. At this point, I'm going to target going to see Mad Max first before even considering Genisys. (Hard to get out to see movies with a toddler and a baby in the house.)

BTW, I keep noticing a much stronger Asian presence in these summer blockbusters. I think that it is because summer blockbusters tend to do well in Asia, so they're adding more and more into these movies to cater to that. Nothing wrong with that per se. Just an observation. But no, I don't think it's necessarily because the entertainment companies are being more inclusive as a reflection of the makeup of the population. They're being more inclusive because it makes more money. It kinda reminds me of the Canadian brew companies. While they are conspicuously hetero-only on TV, they spent big bux to support the gay pride parades here in Canada, and consequently have a much bigger recognition and respect in that community now (even though a lot of those beers suck). Similarly, a brokerage company spent big money in the US to support pride, and all of a sudden, all of the LGBT investors switched to that brokerage company.
 
BTW, it sounds very much like they're attempting a Star Trek-esque reboot here, but somehow I don't think they will not be successful even if the movie doesn't totally suck. For one thing, Arnie is getting way too old.

I can understand that--I watch horribly bad movies multiple times. I think I've watched Fantastic Four 2: Silver Surfer...maybe 4 times? That one is way worse than Salvation, and Salvation is horrible.

...this is only because I'm bored at times. Picked up that FF BluRay back in the days of the infinite BOGO sales vs HDDVD, and there were very limited options to complete your BOGO. I can assure you that if Salvation were out at that time, it would be in my collection. 😀

T3 is Dr Zhivago compared to Salvation.

I guess Salvation is kind of awkward because it's the only one that doesn't take place prior to SkyNet attacking the humans, which (Terminator 3 spoiler)
technically occurs at the end of Terminator 3
. I think part of what makes me watch the movie is that I can still remember the trailer with the Nine Inch Nails song, and the movie has really good sound engineering.

Also, the sound that the terminators make sounds a lot like my Keurig. Should we be worried? :hmm:

The Chinese government only allows 34 movies to be imported from a country each year. By putting in asian faces/having Chinese versions they get to be part of those 34.

Some even go as far as try to co-produce with the Chinese, which means its not an import and it gets around the 34 rule.

China is a large market and only allows a handful of foreign movies in each year. Something like 32 total. One criteria is that the movies have to have asian characters. If you don't include asian actors, you have a near zero chance to get into the China market.
