Is this better than the 5850? I don't know the convention, cuz bigger number doesn't always mean better. 159.95 for 6850

Anyways I like the idea of external exhaust.
The 5850 is faster than the 6850 and GTX460 and that one has a rear exhaust too. I don't think that 6850 you linked is external exhaust..

The naming scheme has changed.Funny thing about the MSI card. I read 2 articles about it and it seems that MSI's card actually ran hotter than the reference card. The fans are smaller than a regular one and since it has no shroud the heat dissipates all over and not to the back. It does say that the smaller fan is very quiet tho.

It's so weird that a 6850 is worse than 5850, isn't it the next generation?
It does not.5850 twin frozer II's are not rear exaust,
are you serious. You should be banned for that.D:

Thought it was. The angle of the image I saw deceived me. My bad.
Not that it makes any difference. The XFX models are the same price after the $15 gift card and those are shrouded.
Not sure about the powercolor version.

Yeah the 5850 is definitely the better card for this scenario. Just a bit warmer, but significantly cheaper (with partial rear exhaust) and also faster in most titles. Oh well. For the same price you could have gotten an XFX model with complete rear exhaust- so a better card for the same price. It is a shame you already bought that GTX460 because those 5850 are way better

Some advice OP: In the video forum you have to figure out who your real friends are.
The 460 uses less power at idle (even overclocked) than a 6850. It even runs a lot cooler.
http://techreport.com/articles.x/20126/15
Which unless you are gaming 24/7 the idle power will be more significant. Even under load the standard (not overclocked 460) was only 5 watts above the 6850.
Sorry to burst your FUD bubble.

Nice price but no voltage control so utter waste of money
made a small mistake
I know my GTX 460 1GB has a higher TDP than an HD 6870,
You do? please share about which brand mutimeter you use and how you tested.
Power draw at the wall is meaningless unless you have the same configuration as the reviewer. You should also be careful about making cross-site comparisons when the two sites use very different hardware - particularly the CPU and power supply.
The techpowerup numbers are more meaningful for the purposes of this little pissing match as they measure power consumption by the card.
Are you gonna keep being such a rude poster? Don't try to cover the fact that the GTX 460 indeed has higher power consumption and TDP compared to an HD 6870. Why don't you look at reviews and see for yourself and stop doing tantrums here.
	Here I'll back it up.
How they test.... and they do it right!
"For this test we measure power consumption of only the graphics card, via PCI-Express power connector(s) and PCI-Express bus slot. A Keithley Integra 2700 with 6.5 digits is used for all measurements. Again, the values here reflect card only power consumption measured at DC VGA card inputs, not the whole system."
And there results....

Have you ever seen a card with 2 fans exaust air out the back? How do you miss a dual fan card from a single fan card? You would have to be blind.
	They partially exhaust.
Likewise even rear exhaust cards drop some air inside the case.
I just saw the grid on the back and it seemed the cooler was covered all the way.
And is there any physical rule that forbids a dual fan cooler to be shrouded?
And can you tell me who posted this image?

Seems like a shrouded card with 3 fans!
