LULZ...you cant be cereal. Do you drive a 1985 Escort or something?

I don't know about the country roads where you live, but around here the pavement isn't actually smooth. Its kinda bumpy with the risk of potholes.

Kids + 500hp = Obvious outcome.

NEVER leave your keys where kids can get at them. Even the best ones only have to have a moment of insanity for this to be the outcome.

even if your roads were nice and smooth, there really is no reason whatsoever to drive that fast

If you have that much of an issue you have far larger problems.

 @ teenagers driving with friends in a fast car.

Not that it would've likely stopped them here, but a teenage driver should never be allowed to drive when other teens are in the same car. Make it a law. It would prevent a lot of the showoff-type "accidents".

Just having fun. Go into a nice empty area and see how fast my car can go. Its really flat around here so you can see an oncoming car for at least a 1/4 mile.

You may not have a problem seeing a car a 1/4 mile away, but it's amazing how many people don't see a damn tree 30 ft off the side of the road.

What is wrong with Florida. It seems like every young person I met from Florida is a hyper-rich white kid who races cars. That or they live in the boonies and have no car.

That is the truth right there. My good friend's boyfriend is from Florida, has a CL63 AMG and his brother drives a S65 AMG. His dad pushes a Bentley and so does the mom...rediculous. The kid is pretty cool though and not an asshole as one would think.

Would this story have the same effect if he wasn't driving an expensive car? He seemed to be driving a sensible, albeit powerful, family sedan. As mentioned in earlier posts, this vehicle features a similar power to weight ratio as other cars, but comes with more safety features, better brakes, etc.

Furthermore, the driver chose to do the high speed run in a controlled area free from traffic. Obviously he should have set brake points such as a sign/cone ahead of time. In addition, he should have familiarized himself with the runoff areas in case of mechanical or brake failure. These steps would have lowered the risk of a high speed run considerably.

I'm not talking about a junior license. I'm talking a full license, but under 21. Still true?

Why wouldn't that help reduce the showoffs who kill themselves and a friend or two?

Well, to be fair, the guy was 18 and at that point, I don't think a law restricting a legal adult from driving others would be very fair.

he definitely didnt think it thru that well. the runway is only 1.5 miles long, and he chose to go the direction towards the embankment (finally noticed it in the pic lol). sad, regardless of whether the other kids were "on board" with the trip or not they were still victims of it. kids dont really htink those kinds of things thru very well tho traditionally. my friends and i did similar stupid things back in our younger years as well, but the runway at stellar airpark stops at a field on one side and a street on the other. worst case is we barrel into chandler blvd and hit a few cars (which could be catastrophic, possibly). the dirt before the street was designed like those runaway truck ramps on mountain roads tho, i dont think we would get too close to the street. planes taking off couldnt get too far into that dirt without sinking either, if they ended up not taking off. dumbest thing i did was getting up to 120 on my bike on US60 at 4 in the afternoon. most everyone was doing about 40 mph from power to mill, where it stopped and was stop n go to phoenix. thats where i slowed down on the shoulder and got off the freeway at 80 mph, almost losing it at the top of the ramp due to a semi in the middle lane.
