So what? Just because the person didn't pay to be here doesn't mean that his/her objections are not valid. Just because it might not affect you personally doesn't mean these aren't valid complaints. Stop trivializing something that obviously bothers the author of that article.

It's a privately owned forum. The owner and whoever he chooses to let run it are free to run it however they want. They have no obligation to run it how other people want. They have no obligation to let the writer of that article, or you, or me, on here. If they want to ban anyone with an "a" in their username, that's their prerogative. If they want to ban anyone who likes AMD, they can do that.

I've run a handful of forums my self and it's never ceased to amaze me how the member base seems to think they can dictate on the forums are run. You don't have some god given right to be on a forum. This is a private forum, not a publically elected position.

Most of the time, I don't even notice or pay attention to those so called negative posts. They are just part of a benign conversation in my opinion. When a post gets flagged by a mod, I usually have to go back to read it in details to see why it would be offensive.

The moderators actions seem inappropriate over such trivial matters in my opinion. If anything, the strict moderation brings so much negativity that it stifles those sub-forums.

Unless you are part of the VC&G "sub-culture" and read that forum regularly, you could definitely be confused by actions against a single post. Any action could be a culmination due to a pattern by a poster.

I'm telling you, it can't be an easy job to attempt to keep it straight. I could give you names of posters that if you searched their posts, you would be amazed they are still allowed here. So maybe the next time they slip up, it is a ban, which would appear harsh from the outside.

This. While it might seem strange that some of his more tame posts were flagged, you are ignoring his posting history. The Mantle thread is a gem filled with rabid fanboyism, to which he contributed a lot.

V&G is a place where you have to pick a side and no matter the evidence presented, you must attack those that disagree with whatever said you did choose (which is really just a product of which arbitrary purchased you made in some arbitrary year that got you on that team).

Yeah, well... I'm gonna go build my own internet forum, with blackjack and hookers. In fact, forget the forum!

Which is sad because the "best" GPU brand varies from generation to generation and sometimes within a generation given hardware tweaks, driver revisions, price drops, new third-party cooling solutions.

Beyond that what is "best" depends on your needs -- price, speed, heat & noise, power draw, size, stock vs. overclocking. A GTX 750 costs more per frames-per-second than an AMD card but can run on a low-end PSU without a 6-pin connector. It's the "best" card for that specific need. With a better PSU an AMD card probably makes more sense.

Edit: Back on topic, I don't post often in VC&G but I don't see "corruption" or unfair treatment of the saner members. But maybe the more . . . . enthusiastic . . . posters get treated differently sometimes, instead of just banning them all.

Some people don't get that concept. For some people it's Nvidia all the way, or AMD all the way.

Except pretend that Sony started doing what everyone hated Rollo for...and making it a competition to see how much Sony propaganda you could spread on internet forums. They call them "influencers"

If you won the competition, you were given a free computer to "evaluate" and post on the internet how great it is. Then imagine hundreds of these people trying to get free PS4s flooding the forums, and not letting anyone know what they were trying to do.

Then the #9 top North American "influencer" on the list steals someone's screenshots from another forum, and posts them here on AT as his own and gets banned. It is a good read.

Aaaaaand the ban announcement that followed:

LOL. And they all failed right? #1 rule of business. Don't piss off your customers or you'll have none left.

If they think moderation is bad, they clearly haven't seen P&N. You'll be begging for mods by the end of the first page.

I don't have much of a problem with the moderation here, and I've patterned a lot of my own moderation style from the mods here, but I'm more libertarian, and prefer an even lighter touch. Anyone that thinks the moderation is bad here should visit more forums. I've been on some that make Stalinist Russia seem like Utopia in comparison.

L&R is the shitstain

I think we all know what or rather who is the problem in L&R.... :p

EDIT:

Good god... that Mantle thread was awful. It made it beyond thousands of posts when there was very little Mantle information available! I mean, those thousands of posts were about 99% speculation and other people going nuh-uh! :|

It can get worse then that......speculation + plagiarism combined.

There is some tech that just came out this week, but earlier, some guy stole an image from some random organization, MS Paint ninja'd it, and tried to pass it off.

seems like he was using that to explain how he thought true audio works like.

not sure that is plagurism. also seems he did not put any edits on the emage at all.

that was merely to explain a point.

Yeah OCGuy, you seem to have misinterpreted the usage of the images in your zeal to prove the poster wrong.

http://forums.anandtech.com/showthre...ht=drove+drunk Not only did he "drive drunk", he was doing it to troll people to respond to that and then another mod showed up to hand out punishments to other people calling him on his horseshit.

He is not a mod in this forum don't call him a mod, warning!

couple of posts down.

He is a mod don't call him out, warning!

Erm....

I learnt very early on that certain mods around here just do whatever they please and resigned myself to the fact that there is nothing I can do to stop it. Don't get me wrong 90% of the moderation that goes on around here is testament to how hard some people are willing to work for 0 pay because it is something they enjoy doing but the other 10% begars belief at times.
