Perhaps but my ideal case is the kevlar backing style Motorola uses (followed by the polycarbonate case style of the One XL that I own right now). Besides, even a metal body doesn't preclude having a large battery.

I'm probably in the minority but I don't like the feel of machined aluminium on a phone. My only experience was with iPhone 5 but I didn't like how it felt in my hand. It felt rough. Maybe the odd long shape of iPhone 5 played a role but I definitely didn't like the feel.

Eh?

Perhaps things are different where you are, but where I'm from the cars carry you, not vice versa.

In mother Russia, you carries car!

on topic, I think the One is the best looking phone out now. I also like the look & feel of aluminum better than plastic on phones. The battery is of little concern to me as I have a charger at work and at home, the two places I am the most. When I travel, I bring a charger. The thing that I dislike the most is lack of expandable memory. I don't care to put a 1080p MKV file on there, but just to throw a few movies is a big PITA. I may be a bit biased about this b/c I use an iphone 4s now and I can't stand how itunes works with my movie collection. I am constantly going back and forth whether I'd like the HTC one or a Nokia 920 when I'm due for an upgrade.

2300mah battery seems a pretty good size. Hm....

It's better than the 1800mah in my One XL for sure but the screen is also double the pixel density.

Wish someone would do really detailed battery tests. My HOXL has really good standby battery life but screen-on actual usage is 3-5 hours depending on what I'm doing.

Storage I actually don't have much issue with the HONE if I were getting it since I'd pick up the 64GB developer edition. 64GB isn't "more than enough" but it is "sufficient that I'm comfortable".

I didn't know what Technobuffalo was, heh.

I see a lot of enthusiasts are advocating the One over the S4, and I think it's a good thing, in spite of my disagreement. Consumers, the market, and the technology - everything - benefit from more competition.

As an aside: I can't believe Sony provide everyone cameras (lenses) yet their own phone's got one of the worse cameras.. bizarre.

I think it's a firmware issue.

Which is bizarre, since I believe Sony has been a player in the digital camera biz a lot longer than Samsung.

From what I've seen the HTC One has better low light camera, but the optimus G pro is sharper and more detailed when there is enough light.

I don't see why smartphone makers think people have a problem with a camera bulge. I would gladly carry a 180g phone with a 40mp camera and good lens.

Also From what I can tell the aluminium unibody is all this phone has going for it. There are still updates to worry about.

This is pretty impressive.

First impressions piece on the One from Anand on the front page. The image at the very end of it is amusing, the Galaxy S4 is just hideous.

Looking forward to the full review for the battery tests. It's encouraging that Anand says it feels comparable to the iPhone 5.

I currently have a note 2 and I charge it quite often since I'm running quite a bit of services/push notifications plus wifi/network/bluetooth/gps on a lot of times. I have a secondary battery but it's really really annoying turning it off and replacing the battery.

I'm currently using a NEW Trent battery pack that has a 10000mah capacity... pretty much preferred way of charging up my note2. I think the one is a winner. Granted I would prefer an external microsd slot... but if there's enough space, say, 32GB, that's more than enough.

I hope ZeroLemon makes a 3000mah case with USB OTG connected microSD storage.

This would solve both the battery and removable storage issue!

You have to applaud HTC. The One seems like the best Android phone made yet build-wise. Honestly things like front-facing stereo speakers and a camera that can take low-light shots are real improvements to user experience in this market.

I hope it does well.

Too bad their unlocked version has the bootloader unlocked, but secured, and only works properly on ATT.

HTC can blow me. I was going to buy one but they can pound sand now. I hope someone at HTC reads this. I change phones more all the time and I will NEVER consider one of their crippled devices.

Wow, the camera *is* pretty good. But HTC already announced the One won't be on Verizon, so...

I really hate our phone market here sometimes.

I wish the One was available with WP8. Though if it's not on Verizon it wouldn't do me much good anyway I suppose.

Technobuffalo need to consider what the One is going to feel like in 18 months time when it's rocking year old Android.

You described every one of the 4 Android phones I owned, well except the One will still feel like an actual real piece of tech and not a fisher price plastic toy

I don't envy your battery life in a year after hundreds of discharges :)

I've always tended to replace the battery after a year with a new OEM one as battery life is noticeably worse than new.
