Team Fortress2 Update coming next Tuesday

I haven't been playing lately but this may just bring me back.

The largest update yet to Valve's online shooter Team Fortress 2 is set to go live next Tuesday, August 19, according to the developer.

The update will include seven fresh maps and a new game mode, in addition to new unlockable weapons and achievements for the Heavy class.

Valve plans to reveal each element of the patch--as well as a "special installment" to the "Meet the Team" video series--in a series of daily updates to its website.

The first announced map was revealed to be community-created level cp_steel (pictured above). Described as a "complex Attack/Defense control point map" by Valve, the arena was created by Jamie "Fishbus" Manson, and marks the first of six website reveals.

The mysteriously unannounced game mode will come supported with five Valve-crafted maps. A "new Payload map focusing on more open spaces than Goldrush" will also be released, according to Valve's Robin Walker.

I wish they would at least release 2 classes at a time. It's annoying to be on the servers with all the same class. I think the best would have been to release all the classes upgrades at the same time and then release the achievements over time.

Yay! I play heavy more than any other class. It's a blast when you've got a medic that knows what to do.

Steel is pretty fun. It's nothing compared to Hall of Death though.

I'm just curious if people hating it play it anyway, you know like some people judging a political party but they never voted for it in the first place? My message to those who think TF2 is imbalanced and are annoyed by that, please, just stay away from it, because not only your complaints don't change a single thing, but you will save your own time too! Isn't this grand? No one obliges you guys to play it, you think it's imbalanced? Fine, then send a message to Valve, maybe they can do something about it.

Keep coming what? Why didn't you tell us that you tried it in the first place? So someone like me would come and ask you how you know it's imbalanced without owning it and then "bam!" fell into the almighty trap?

This game is gonna be complete shit until ALL the classes have been "upgraded" AND then been balanced AFTER all of that. It's fun for some casual play, but there are just so many quirks about this game that just kills it for competitive players. I have fun for about 1 hour (max) and then just get annoyed... that's just me.

This announcement, to me, reads like this:

"Get ready for the HWGuy flood. Get ready to do some chores, AKA be forced to spend time to unlock achievements in order to level the playing field. Get ready to ruin the balance of the game even more. Oh and we have some new maps and a game mode."

The only thing I'm mildly interested in is the game mode. Who knows, it might actually be cool.

So judging by what happens EVERY SINGLE TIME I post something bad about TF2, HeroOfPelinor gets on my case... lets see what happens this time...

As I said in the other thread, why do you even bother coming in and posting? You're doing nothing but trolling. You walked into a TF2 thread about an upcoming patch that people are excited for, and then posted that you think the game sucks. OT, I'm pumped for the HWGuy patch, I sold my WoW account (bored of it, again) so hopefully I'll get back to playing some TF2. Oh, and the HWGuy flood is going to be super amusing for me, who will definitely work on the HW achievements, but who plays Spy/Medic most of the time. It's going to be a killing field for a spy with all the heavies around, and at least medics will have something valid to heal!

If you knew anything about the game, the unlocked weapons do not give a great advantage over everyone else. They change the way the class is played. Please tell me how the game is so imbalanced. The way you talk about it, I'm going to go ahead and say you haven't even really given the game a chance aka a noob.

Yeah really, the only unlockable for the pyro I use after the backburner hp nerf is the axstinguisher.
