People must not pay much attention to Mal's posts. They are predominantly troll based and people just feed him to no end.

I know my cousin is looking forward to it, his favorite class is heavy by far, while I will enjoy completely butchering enemy teams.

Are you saying it's unbalanced? Obviously, you've never played tf2, because then you'd know even with the update weapons, everything is still perfectly balanced.

If you didn't know, Valve is the greatest game dev alive right now. Unlike EA, they actually finish their games before releasing them. All their games are done and polished to perfection before they are released.

btw thanks for perpetuating the trend of horrible games by purchasing them, you're doing us all a great service.

Steel is a fun custom map.
Cool, I've been on hiatus for about a month from TF2, this should bring me back into the fold.

I've never tried Steel, much less heard of it (though I don't search out custom TF2 maps so that's probably why) but from the screens I've seen and what I've heard about it, it looks pretty interesting. I can't wait to find out what new gametype they're coming out with though, that's what I'm most excited about.

Steel is really cool. I was playing it yesterday. The idea that they can cap your last point at anytime during the game is pretty cool.

I actually agree with several of Maleficus' trolling comments which is why I never fall for it. But then again I'm one of those people who thinks removing grenades was and still is a bad thing and knows that the first TF didn't have "Classic" in the name. However, I also enjoy TF2. The funny thing is, a lot of people in TF2 are really, really bad FPS gamers. I don't know what happened, but the average skill level has plummeted to the levels where sometimes I hope the people I'm playing are drunk.

And if everyone plays heavy, I will freaking laugh. It will be a blast playing Demoman (oh god that line is really corny).

Heavy is my most played class and might be my best but I'm also a wicked sniper. There will be many dead heavies when this patch hits!

Bah, Steel map stinks. Better than Fastlane, but not by much.

Those killing gloves sound as useful as the medic uber-saw. At least with the pyro, you are usually in melee range to use the flamethrower, thus making the axetinguisher useful.

The sad thing is, i'm not a troll at all.

I post a lot of 'negative' comments about games because the quality game has dropped so tremendously yet people trudge on and accept it. We need to reject these subpar graphics sellers and demand quality gameplay once again. When I see comments like this: "If you didn't know, Valve is the greatest game dev alive right now" it's hard not to lose hope, but i soldier on.

Where are all the 2d platform games that everyone loves?
Where are the skill-based FPS games?
Turn-based strategy games?
mindless beat-em ups?
the adventure genre has been dead for almost a decade now.
Why is the MMO genre, which isn't even a game, raking in billions a year?
How is it possible that company after company manages to get something so simple as a diablo clone, entirely wrong?
Why has story-telling been relegated to imbecilic, uninvolved plot lines such as those found in Mass Effect?

Many will dismiss me as antiquated, it has nothing to do with that, i just want good games again.

I'm not going anywhere either guys, learn to love me.

Well, whatever your thoughts on the game itself, I'm looking forward to the update. Frankly, I've been so busy with school that TF2 has had to take a backseat, so this should give me something fun to do when I get a break. Initially, the game will be unbalanced due to the new update, but Valve will quickly fix the balance issues, unlike some game companies (EA).

Probably. I don't like either map, but Fastlane is really really difficult to recover on while Turbine is just very difficult.

Thinking about the maps, the one thing I'm disappointed about is the lack of official Capture the Intel maps from Valve. If there is indeed one thing I do complain about TF2 is the overuse of the CP game mode, I mean seriously, it's ridiculous, but at least Gold Rush is a good map, and Dust Bowl can be fun at times I guess. But I'm mostly sticking to 2FORT for obvious reasons, it's a CTI map.

Hi, I'm CTF_Well. My friend CTF_Turbine was player made, but is now an official map. We can both be found in rotation on any server running the official maps.

And here's the problem with them. They last for freaking ever. To win, you need to play them like CP maps or have some really skilled spies. Honestly, aside from Fort, CTF maps clear the servers.

I am going to be playing spy more than ever. With so many heavies for the next month or so, as they all work on their achievments, there will be a ton of snipers and almost no pyros. After I'm done with the snipers, I'll grab a heavy or two on my way back.

Yes I know about those CTF (or CTI, whatever) maps, the thing is Well was originally designed with Capture the Point in mind, the map is HUGE for CTF. The other, CTF Turbine is fairly decent, but compared to the simple design of 2FORT it's just not as fun, maybe because I'm an old FPS player and I used to play lots of very symmetrically designed maps in the original UT and Quake III.

I don't know, but 2FORT feels, to me, like the only true CTF map right now. I know it's not the only one technically, but for me it's the only one I play, and the only one in which a match doesn't have to last an hour as you say, to which I agree for CTF Well and Turbine, especially Well, which is just plain wrong to turn into a CTF map, plain wrong stuff right there.

Okay, so I got to try out cp_Steel tonight for a few hours, and I came away unimpressed. The map seems likes it's designed with 32 players in mind, which is what I avoid in TF2 (no more than 24 players for me). The idea of a changing landscape within the map sounds awesome, but I didn't feel that it was executed very well with Steel. As an example, it takes way too long to get to the last point as RED after a few other points have been capped. I understand it's supposed to be that way, but you can't hold on for victory once BLU have taken a few points. Lesser skilled teams also seemed to have absolutely no chance of victory (I played on games where I was on the dominant team, as well as on the hopeless team). It was either an offensive blowout, or a defensive shutout.

In conclusion, cp_Steel seems like it would be very enjoyable in clan matches or whatnot, where everyone plays like a team. But in pubs it plays out like a chaotic maze. I'll give it some more chances as the days go by, but so far I've got Steel grouped with Fastlane; as in, maps I'll play for a bit and then probably never again. That being said, I can't wait to see the new payload map. :D
