Just to be sure, this isn?t like Folding@home where the client needs to download new work files? I can simply put the program on a disc and install it on a computer not connected to the net and move the results file every week to a connected PC?

Basically, yes. The only thing is that the new best calculated optimizations CAN be downloaded from DPAD to progress from there, but NEED NOT be downloaded.

I once had a PIII-600 set on DPAD, couldn't reach it for 4 months and, and as it didn't have internet, it calculated a monster results.txt file in that time. There was no need what so ever for internet access.

Cool ,welcome all :D

Thanks Jon B & Caferace :)

Is that in the samplefiles folder?

Welcome! Sphexi, MxChris, nefariouscaine, Darwin333, Geldor1, null pointer us and darkone!

Put 6 systems at work and 1 system from home running DPAD. Let's see what damage we can do. ;)

All are either P1.6 or 1.8 Ghz running XP.

The 6 at work are training systems that sit idle most of the time. They are left on in case anyone needs to use them. Might as well put them to use. ;)

They will be replaced this year with newer systems, P3.0 ghz 1GB memory.

Maybe you could talk them into Core2's. P4's are actually a big waste of money (especially now). Just food for thought. ;)

I jumped on, it only runs when my screensaver kicks in, but that runs a solid 18+ hours a day while I'm at work and sleeping, hopefully it'll help some :)

Anyone talk with Johan lately?

I could do a quick & dirty daily stats till he can resume doing it himself.

That would rock, Spacehead. Johan is about, but mysteriously silent....

BTW I've noticed that the Toledo core @ 2.8GHz with only 512 Meg at DDR 500 in single channel is at least 25% faster then the C2D @ 2.4GHz running at DDR2 700 with 2048 Megs of RAM in dual channel.

Interesting.

lol Sorry guys!! What can I say.. half of the time life is great, the other half it sucks! It's time I get my priorities straight.. sorry for letting you guys down.. the stats are up again and will be daily from now on. And I'll have a  with that!! :D

Anybody else changed their "config.txt" to run just the PhaseRotD optimization? I just did since there doesn't seem to be any improvement (since November 06) in the other running optimization, DecayRotB.

Should be the same number of Mpts, but I don't want the CPU time to be wasted.

Good to see you about :)
I hope you manage to sort out RL.
Btw if you find your too busy to do stats ,maybe you could email them to space head or myself to post? (assuming that's do-able & SH doesn't mind either, seeing as he's already offered;) )

Interesting ,going by CPU clock speed alone ,the X2 should only be about ~17% faster.
So it would seem X2s are better at DPAD than C2Ds ,clock for clock.

Going by this benchmarking graph you can see that DPAD doesn't really seem to care so much about RAM speed/bandwidth or cache size but primarily CPU speed & architecture.
I guess that explains why your hobbled X2's DPAD performance isn't too badly effected ;)
