""and will also rev match downshifts and hold gears even when the tach is bouncing off the engine's redline.""

What the hell....they rev match down shifts? That's pretty kick ass.

Still a Taurus, though, which for me at least = crap rental fleet car. Why couldn't they do this to another one of their vehicles?

Nearly $40K for a Taurus sounds like a lot of money to me. I'm sure this will drive well - for a Taurus - but they will have to discount it heavily to sell many.

Same thoughts. It's definitely nice. But not 40k nice. $40k put's you into some fairly swanky company. I know the size of the car and paper numbers make it hard to compare, but it's still a Taurus.

The dash is very dissapointing to me. I still like my "performance" cars to have performance type gages that give you real information like temps and pressures. I don't even see a boost gage. Maybe that stuff shows up on the center screen display but it don't seem so. I would think that a dashboard layout something like the Mustang's would be more appropriate.

I've sat in the 2010 Taurus, it's way beyond anything you'll find in a rental fleet.

This SHO looks amazing. Maybe when I get out of school (after I go back to school).

I dunno that's a lot of jack and it'll be 4000lbs so I'm not all that excited, yes it will be tunable, but it's still a pig.

For the price compared to a G37, I say meh.

Nissan has this in the new 370Z (as an option) on a traditional manual gearbox. As you downshift the computer will rev match as you engage the lower gear. I think that is probably the coolest thing about the new Z in fact.

I hate flappy paddle gearboxes personally but I remain interested in this car. Sounds pretty sweet to me!

They probably should have sold it under the Lincoln or Mercury brands...then again, those brands should probably go the way of Oldsmobile.

whoa there. have you driven a 2010 taurus? there is NOTHING carried over into this model. Reserve judgement.

people really, really need to stop making generalizations based on older models of a car. It's rather ignorant.

Some people are set in their ways ;)

So other than the G8 GXP, what other cars would be comparable to the SHO? (Large family car that kicks butt)

You can get a Mazda 6 fully loaded for around $33k with 272HP. Not sure if a speed version is in the works.

This is Ford's answer to the G8 GT/GXP. It's more in line with the GT in performance numbers but in the GXP price range. I do like the interior on theat new SHO better than I do the G8.
If GM would freshen the G8's cabin up a bit and put a real nav with a better nav screen, I would say this would be a good fight between the 2.
As it is now, I would say the SHO gets a  for a better interior.

Question: Is this the same Turbo V6 that the Aussies have in their Falcons?

Another contender would be Hyundai Genesis.

Yet another overpriced slow heavy object

yes, because there are so many cars with 365hp, awd, this size, with adaptive cruise, available massaging seats, and more.... for that price...

Let's start naming them...

I think the interior looks sweet. Dunno why they would place the trunk lid button right up front towards the passenger side though.

Doesn't matter it's too expensive for a Taurus, period.
