Wait for a sale, they did a patch and totally fucked up the steam hosting system.

It's hard to even join a game to play now.

wow, I was going to get this today but after much debate over whether or not it is worth it since I wasn't too fond of the demo I think I'll wait for a sale and maybe for them to fix the shit they broke(Experimentals and the Economy)... Good thing supcom 1 is in the bargain bin now I might go buy another copy, I really enjoyed that game.

Is it me, or does this game not have the 'epic-ness' of the original? -- Played through the demo again, and I just don't feel it.

It doesn't have any epicness at all. Experimentals are a joke as well as the scale of the maps.

I got the game for free (well technically I bought it, but I was given the gamestop credit for free at my job) and I wish I wouldn't have spent the credit on it.

This is exactly what I was thinking, TA > SupCom2 which is sad considering TA is over 10 years old. when/if they fix SupCom2 I'll pick it up, otherwise I'll just join the masses waiting for starcraft 2.

You dont use any of the "major" experimentals in the demo. Only the "minor" ones.

They did however make it so that an experimental isnt basically a pwnmobile that goes and clears the map. There is always a counter.

There are some balance issues right now though, mainly with gunship spamming and commander rushing.

I just bought this game today and I am little confused.

The graphics look like the games from early 90's. Units look like a block and it seems all over the place. I never played SC1, but I am not new to RTS games (SC, WC, AOE, etc)

Am I missing something here?

Zoom in, the units look goofy if you zoom too far out, they're just icons at that point, I think they call it strategic zoom or something. I know the graphics in the demo aren't the greatest but they're not THAT bad.

Did I read correctly at their website that you have to "pay" for units up-front? Does that mean the whole economic system is changed?

The pay-as-you-go system of Total Annihilation and Supreme Commander I was the best thing about the game...

It's not *bad*, it's just not Total Annihilation/Supreme Commander. It's about what you'd expect if SquareEnix had someone make a Starcraft 2 clone. There is absolutely no epicness though. The maps are laughably small.

not yet, i can't imagine not being able to eventually

Did you edit maps for SupCom 1? That map editor was horrible and never passed beta stage that I know of. Sure other people made somewhat decent editors, but GPG just dropped the ball with it.

no, i didn't, but I was aware of its suckiness. that didn't stop people from creating some pretty sweet maps.

Guest-3: Hello Chris. Supcom 1 and FA in my opinion was one of the most underrated RTS games in history (you and your team deserve much kudos!). What made it great for me was the "epicness". Some of the vets are concerned that the maps in Supcom 2 are a little on the small side(particularly naval). Any chance of a map editor getting released so the community can create some **bleep**er large maps?
ChrisT-Square: Thanks for the kind words! I think a lot of the maps we have been showing have been on the smaller side, as many are related to our campaign... however, there are many maps and we have some big ones that are included! As for a map editor, we haven't made any final plans yet, but it is a very real possiblity!

no mention of what scene they used for benchmarking...if they didn't stress the number of units it is pretty useless....
