The mandatory 10% over-read on the speedo can take care of that fella. Actual speed taken by a calibrated instrument would not show 48, more like 43-44. BUZZ.

There is no mandatory 10% over-read in the state of Florida. This is not the UK.

So you have a calibrated Speedo? No. So get a clue. The Radar will HAVE to be calibrated within a given time frame of the trap or it's evidence will not be valid. Your car WILL NOT read over your actual speed, but under. It will get closer to actual as the tyres wear, but will not show over speed readings, this would be illegal. So it is safe to say that you are not doing the indicated speed, but always under that speed. My point being, Brxndxn says 48, so what? Is that admissable? No. game over. Calibrated readings only, fella, game over.

*yawns* I think everyone is quite aware of what impact tires have on the speedo as well as gears, and the frequent calibration needed for radar. Secondly, under 60 MPH most speedos are accurate to within a FEW percent here in the US. Search google if you want the info I read. I read it several years ago. Thirdly, you have much less freedom in the UK than I do here. I can own a firearm and you cannot. Don't even start on freedom because you have very little compared to me. Fourthly, a speedo can and WILL read over the actual limit is going. What is preventing it from doing so? God? Please I have raced cars for years now and when you go from 3.27 gears to 4.10s your speedo reads ABOVE actual speed.

I was like ... " was that and option he asked for in the car ....? "

He explained that the state of Wisconsin installed a device that renders a vehicle unstartable without a passing breathalize test...

I think i'm gonna agree to disagree on this one millenium. not that i know anything about the original poster and you may be completely right about him, but as a general principle power and authority in the hands of capricious people always worry me. human nature being what it is, people tend to abuse power.

Why is corruption so rampid? Why are violent people allowed to be Police Chiefs (see the recent tacoma story). Like I said before if their not doing dirt then it seems like they will cover up for their partner. I'm sorry but in the world today unless I personally know the cop then I don't really trust them! Around here in my area their has been numerous cops caught either beating their wife, embezzling funds, etc etc. I just think they should be held accountable and treated like everyone else. Maybe its just a fringe benefit of being a cop. You get to break certain laws but that isn't right at all.

You also have to remember that officers are human. They can make bad judgement calls, they can make mistakes, they can even commit crimes. But do you know why it is on the news anytime something like this happens? BECAUSE IT'S NOT A COMMON THING TO HAPPEN! If it happened all the time, people wouldn't care. Good deeds from police are not news worthy, so they only broadcast the bad...making people believe that such things are everyday happenings. With the media setting that kind of tone, our job just gets that much more difficult.

You hate police because they chose a more noble profession than you? Yes, it's sad that some police are corrupt, but humanity is inherently corrupt. We must deal with corruption from everyone. If you lived in a society without police, I wonder just how long you would live safely. They do a great deal more for us than we give them credit for.

I got pulled over about a month ago by the border patrol in northern NY. There was no reason why I was pulled over, I wasn't speeding. The officer asked to search my trunk. I cooperated, I didn't want any problems.

While being stopped was quite inconvenient, I didn't have a huge problem with it, since the officer explained the situation. He pulled me over since I was driving an out of state vehicle, (I'm from NH). I guess they've had a problem with out of staters smuggling marijuana out of a indian reservation lately, so that's why I got targeted.

My first time being pulled over, about 3 years ago, I was driving in a town just north of where I live in NH. 30 mph zone, and I was driving up this hill. Just before reaching the top of the hill, this cop fly's by me in the other direction, (I'm unsure of whether or not he actually clocked me). Anyway, he turns around hits his lights, and I pull over. He claims he clocked me going 44 mph, but I know I wasn't going even close to that. Both occupants also said I wasn't going that fast. My car is geared really low, and I was in 3rd gear, meaning if I was travelling at 44 mph in 3rd, my car would be awefully loud.

Anyway, since I only got a warning, I didn't do anything about it.
