Yea. It really is up to the parents to teach their kids about going into debt. Even if it is for an education. I have talked with a few 18 year olds this past summer. When I askeed them if they were going to college, not one person said that were going. They all brought up that they didn't want debt. They talked about going to trade school instead. I only talked to a few young people, so its not a reliable source of data. But, I wonder if the internet, specifically YouTube, has played or is playing a part in the decision to not attend college. There are a ton of videos on YouTube warning young people about the high risk of college and student debt. Also, there are a few social media influencers who are warning highschool students about the high cost of going to college. And that it just isn't worth the cost.
