Oh, good. I'll hope that 1 US citizen doesn't die, because I like hearing the same news over and over again. It's like politics for the rest of the world events.

How much help did Myanmar provide to hurricane Katrina victims? I'm not expecting a 1 to 1 ratio, but did they even offer?

At some point we have to realize that sending aid to countries ruled by dictators and military juntas is just a waste of said money. The food is confiscated and sold to profit the ruling party. The money is used for anything but aid to the people in trouble.

Time and time again we see the same thing happen.

We see the same rulers left in power or even re-elected.

I'd rather the money be wasted here at home.

Personally I don't give a damn if the entire population of Burma is killed.

This is what is known as contradiction.

Sympathy ? Care

So you have sympathy for the millions that may die but you don't care if they do? I hope you weren't one of those people who complained that Bill Clinton minced words.

Good job. It's Americans like you that validate the 'fuck the world' stereotype so many outside of this country have of us.

If youre american,

American > everyone else. Its called Patriotism.

pa·tri·ot·ism Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[pey-tree-uh-tiz-uhm

No, that is ethnocentrism.

You can't compare the charity of one of the poorest countries in the world to us. I read a story (Yahoo?) that said the food was getting to the people. IIRC it had the name of a general on it.

Sympathy ? Care

I would love to hear an explanation as to how you can have sympathy for something but not care about it.

I see this thread was getting off topic with personal insults, but appears to now be moving back on topic.

Let's keep it that way please.

the junta generals are using this as a propoganda opportunity...they are stamping their names on the boxes of donated supplies and setting up photo sessions showing them handing out this food as if it came from these bastards (probably another reason why they want countries to dontate food/water/supplies, but not actual aid workers who can ensure that everything is being distributed fairly)...

The government soldiers were too busy this past weekend ensuring that the polls for some referendum were secure instead of providing assistance to the victims...In some places, the victims were thrown out of their shelters so the voting booths could be setup...

Yep, and here's more on it

According to one of the monks they haven't seen any government aid. It's just a messed up situation all around. :(
