I'm a pretty big fan of his, but I'd rather see something get done.

They waste enough of our time and money without him cracking jokes for 5 minutes. Open with one. Have one or two in the middle. But take the opportunity you've been given to say something useful.

A rare  for you, Colbert.

For people that don't get the subtlety, this country was founded and built by immigrants. To be against immigration is un-American.

Hating immigrants isn't un-American. If anything we have a long history of hating certain groups of people coming here from different countries.

Gotta blame someone for the crappy economy right?

But the point is that all of our ancestors immigrated here in the last few hundred years. We're all originally immigrants and should remember that.

Yeah because it couldn't possibly be anything we did

You know, if they would just implement the Fair Tax idea, it would solve a lot of issues here.

Lots of what he said would have been funny, on his show. It wasn't the least bit funny in front of congress.

Time and place.

The problem is that he thinks people won't take him seriously if he isn't in his persona, which isn't serious.

Seriously? Like anything SERIOUS gets done in congress anyway. Perfect time, perfect place, given they know how to waste our time and money like no other.

You're absolutely right - congress knows very well how to waste time and money.

I think he's one of a very few very smart people who could have turned the opportunity to speak to congress into something more.

He certainly didn't do anything to improve the time-wasting happening in the room.

I loled, but am wondering why he was there. Certainly someone must have invited him?

Pretty disgraceful little stunt he pulled. No respect. If I was chairmen I would have kicked him out of the room immediately. Really poor taste shown here by colbert.

Not many are against LEGAL immigration, it's the ILLEGAL immigration that ticks most folks off. Of course, it's obvious that the media and the libs have gotten to you, because you make no distinction in your statement.
