Not many are against LEGAL immigration, it's the ILLEGAL immigration that ticks most folks off. Of course, it's obvious that the media and the libs have gotten to you, because you make no distinction in your statement.

Did you listen to his testimony? He addressed that, and I don't need to change my statements to fit it. People are quite often against even legal immigration.

Delightful lulz. :awe:

"I trust that following my testimony, both sides will work together on this issue in the best interest of the American people, as you always do."

Bullshit. I have never heard anybody in real life or on any forum say they were against LEGAL immigration. Most illegal lovers use that as an excuse to throw out the bigot/racist card.

I have never seen one person on this board or a meet a person in RL that was against legal immigration.

Ask yourself why they are illegal. Listen to his testimony. Colbert's entire testimony was about this topic.

Lots of what he said would have been funny, on his show. It wasn't the least bit funny in front of congress.

Time and place.

agreed, but i dont know why youd expect anything else. he did try making his points with jokes, that actually works...he could have just stated his points but either way nothing is going to get done on his part. *Shrug*

Illegal immigrants exist because we don't legally accept them. We don't legally accept them because we...

The correct answer isn't that we don't need them.

I've said it time and time again... I'm perfectly fine with this slave-esque labor that requires a drop-in-the-bucket investment in exchange for massive productivity. You gonna go out and pick corn?

I would pick corn in a heartbeat, if it was grown here. I don't think I've ever seen an advertised farming job here.

How much are they paying?

Well if you're a taxpaying American citizen, you'd be subject to at least the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour. If you're an undocumented alien, well maybe a 20 per 10 hour day and a few bean stalks you picked will be enough compensation. :)

Edit: Call me a bad person or whatever, but I seriously can't see how all the conservatives out there get riled up over illegal immigration, when it assists them tremendously by keeping their grocery prices low, the cost (and subsequent quality product gotten) of house-work / manual labor low, and taking the menial jobs that these true patriots are too good to do.

Bring up the fact that they're sucking welfare money, and I'll ask you kindly to provide where they can receive such money when you have to prove citizenship to receive it.

Actually, minimum wage doesn't apply to farm workers.

http://www.dol.gov/compliance/guide/minwage.htm
The following are examples of employees exempt from both the minimum wage and overtime pay requirements:

* Executive, administrative, and professional employees (including teachers and academic administrative personnel in elementary and secondary schools), outside sales employees, and certain skilled computer professionals (as defined in the Department of Labor's regulations) 1
* Employees of certain seasonal amusement or recreational establishments
* Employees of certain small newspapers and switchboard operators of small telephone companies
* Seamen employed on foreign vessels
* Employees engaged in fishing operations
* Employees engaged in newspaper delivery
* Farm workers employed on small farms (i.e., those that used less than 500 "man‑days" of farm labor in any calendar quarter of the preceding calendar year)
* Casual babysitters and persons employed as companions to the elderly or infirm

Testifying about what? Boobies? :hmm:

Elmo is the only non-human or puppet ever to testify before the U.S. Congress. At the request and with the assistance of Rep. Duke Cunningham, he testified before the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services and Education in April 2002, urging support for increased funding in music education.[5]

I don't want a tomato picked by a Mexican. I want it picked by an American. Then sliced by a Guatamalan. And served by a Venezualan. In a spa where a Chilean gives me a Brazilian.
