And Daniel, you dont honestly think that there are only very few people out there who run computers without internet access do you? I have 4 systems in my house. 2 of which I have no Internet access to. Why would I have access to all 4?
Computer cant really compete with consoles if an Internet connection is required to game.
There is a fundamental flaw in your argument.
It is specifically based on your ignorance by not factoring business into your point of view.
If we were to assume that Valve is marketing its product to a specific demographic, we must be truthful to ourselves if we are to have insightful disscussion on the topic.
You my friend, are assuming that you are part of Valve's intended market, are you not?
Perhaps you should reevaluate that.
Any individual willing to purchase Valve's products is part of their intended market. I happen to be in the 'average gamer' demographic. Single, male and 26 years of age. To insinuate otherwise would be foolish.
We will see if Valve continues to use Steam in its current form. That will decide this current debate.
I may point out though, that even Microsoft had the presence of mind and forethought to take individuals with no internet access into account when developing their current validation system. It seems ignorant for any of us to think that Valve will not have to readjust their validation system to increase their target demographic.
Good business sense would dictate that a company do everything possible to include all possible end-users in its marketing scheme. Why would you alienate even 1000 sales when all you would have to do is offer a secondary form of authentication, i.e. a phone number, etc.
