I say I don't agree with WON being "better" than steam, more convenient maybe. Steam gives frequent updates and patches to HL engines, allows servers to run with VAC, better MOD listing when searching for servers, adding friends or players you met on the servers easily so you can play at a later date, etc etc.

I have not had problems with Steam lately, other than the Friends service not really working. It's saved me a trip to the store, which is difficult for me now since freshmen can't have cars here.

Dang, I about choked on my breakfast reading that thread.

Valve's Response to Disgruntled user inquiring about disabled account.

"Not useless, actually you get to serve as an example.

Your account was disabled for attempted credit-card fraud. Back in March your account made, let's see, 19 attempts to purchase Condition Zero using a fake credit-card number. I would say maybe you made a typo, but 19 times? And also there's a very nice array of different attempted billing names and addresses to go along with that card. Granpa Joey. . .John Smith. . .dasfg dfg. . .from Texas, Nevada, North Dakota. . . .

Hmm and all from the same IP address you just posted this thread from"

have u tried contacting Valve/Steam/HL2 ppl? Or did you just give up and come to the conclusion that you're going to have to buy another copy?

It's funny how so many people start whining/ranting when something goes wrong when they haven't even tried fixing the problem (ie contacting steam). they just assume the world is over. sheesh.

Steam is actually quite a nice little control module for a set of games. Steam doesn't suck. Even if JeReMy was somehow not a dumbass getting himself banned or something, it's not Steam's fault. It's Valve. Steam is just the program that manages Valve software titles. Valve programmed steam to kick your ass out for a reason. Steam is doing it's job just fine.

Oh, and wrong forum. I'd usually call you a name or something, but I feel horrible today and can't think. Do me a favor and just consider yourself verbally and emotionally abused, k? Thanks.

Hahaha... it sure is nice when you're not up to your normal standards. The world is a nicer and happier place.

Anyway, Steam does suck. It's the program that was created to effectively manage Valve software titles. While it has improved, it didn't used to do that. Steam < *

Why is the world a better place when I'm happy? Why does your world revolve around me, you stalker!?

Steam doesn't suck. Valve created Steam to function a certain way and it's functioning that certain way. If you don't like the way Steam functions, blame those that made Steam... Valve.

Now... if Steam is constantly borking your windows install or refuses to function if you aren't using IE to download hairy midget porn or something, then yes... Steam would suck.

But it doesn't! Steam rocks. I have zero problems with Steam.

Steam is complete and utter trash :| I could pay 4 monkeys $15 each and have them come up with better stuff. Granted we don't know exactly what the OP did but I wouldn't doubt that they fcscked up.

 typical response from someone who doesn't have a friggin clue what it takes to design something like Steam.

I actually really like steam. The idea is great and the implementation is as well as can be expected. Of course you're going to have you down times but overall this helps curb cheating and allows for a fast way for people to update.

*shrug* I haven't had a single problem with Steam yet and I've been using it for ages. Never been locked out from an account, was able to get HL2 the instant it was released... Well, I guess the only thing I'm a bit peeved at is that with my gold package one of my posters was a Gordon Freeman head render, luckily Nik paid me for it to f a p at.

While Steam does have its bugs, it's a new piece of software. It's not in Valve's nature to make bad software, there's a reason why Steam does have issues... because it's not as cut and dry to code as some people think.

I really doubt that.

Steam works well. Its people that dont remember their passwords and or dont have a clue about what they are doing that have problems with it.

I've been using steam since it was first released.
I hate almost every other minute of it, and dislike the account activation crap, and the loading my games through it bullocks.

that being said : i've never known steam to fu$k up that bad, you better call someone or such. It has it's faults, but it definatley is not that faulty.

Haha not a stalker, but I must admit I enjoy your "Wrong forum" posts.

Anyways, Steam doesn't rock if the Friends network is always down or if I always have to refresh or have friends refresh to see if they're on and playing.

Just because you love it so much doesn't mean people don't have problems with it. I stopped using it because a while ago they sent out new account/passes or whatever, but I never received one. There goes a nice sum of cash.
