Unreal Pack - $13.59
Witcher Enhanced - $13.59
Day of Defeat Source - $2.49

...so far

Hoping Defense Grid drops to $2.49 again. Missed that one and the Demo is really fun!

Torchlight for $10 (got it before the $5 sale)
Witcher EE for $14

I was considering Dragon Age, but it's still cheaper at GoGamer than it ever was on Steam. I ended up ordering it from Amazon with my $20 voucher from MW2, so it came out to be $20 out of pocket.

Nothing. I don't pay real money for permission to access a digital copy of a game.

Though KOTOR...hmm...will it even work in Vista 64?

And you don't think that disc in the box is a digital copy of the game? :p

Kotor runs just fine in Vista/Win7 64-bit btw

If Steam goes kaput, I can still install and play the disc copy.

I can resell the disc copy if I so desire.

I can buy a used copy of the disc version for cheaper than the MSRP.

I actually have a physical good to show for my money.

Etc, etc. :p

And that is good to know that KOTOR works fine in Vista 64. It's pretty tough to find a copy of KOTOR (at least without paying $40+ for it), so for $5...hmm...:hmm:

That's like saying you only trade in goods and not in currency because currency isn't a real "physical" good. It's only as good as our faith in the government to continue supporting it.

By the same token, I have faith that if Steam were to go away, PC gaming would be entirely over anyway. So much are they now intertwined that PC gaming can't go on without Steam.

And I just threw a boxed copy of KOTOR in the garbage can after buying it on Steam. Who wants to mess with all those discs?

Hmmm...How to reconcile this post with the many posts in the WOW thread...

Perhaps I worded it poorly. There is no boxed, physical, offline, stand-alone copy of WOW available. Also, WOW is constantly updated for the price you pay for that access. Big difference from a stand-alone game.

You can reconcile it with how I didn't choose very good words to portray my thoughts. :p

IF a physical copy of a game is available for the same or less cost as the digital copy, I will always buy the physical copy.

Uh...no. It's not the same thing at all. Are you saying the dollar isn't real?

lolwut? I can play every PC game (except Valve games, obviously, though I don't play any of those anyway) without ever installing Steam. The only "PC gaming intertwined with Steam" are Valve games, by design. Other PC games just show up on Steam to increase their market exposure.

That was foolish. You could have at least given them to me. :D

NO ONE CARES.

now.... move on please. Do we need to argue the merits of online digital distribution and regular boxed copies every time the word steam comes up? No, so please, for the love of god, shut up.

I picked up Bioshock, Trine, and Ghostbusters. Damn I'm going to have to upgrade to the 100gb cap before long as all these cheap games are so tempting.

I paid £9.99 ($15) for WiC Gold (WiC + SA) about 1 hour ago so I think it's just on general sale.

Don't think they'd be selling it any cheaper.

Looks like you'll live the rest of your life stuck in 2002 then. The rest of us will enjoy this new digital world, I'm loving it.

Nothing, unfortunately, simply because my PayPal funds will be available two days after the sale is over. It always happens anyway, since we never know in advance that there will be specific deals I can never make sure to have funds for that specifically, so I bought other things (components) and games at GoG which happened to be exactly two days before the sale occurred, when I saw the sale I immediately sent new funds to my PayPal but due to the holidays work schedules it won't be ready until January 5th.

Had I been able to buy something I would have bought three games, at least. There's one positive thing in all that however, I just have more time for myself instead, and there's always deals on Steam, I just never know when. I don't know much about business, but if they announced that "special sales" and "deals" would happen about one or two weeks in advance without necessarily telling exactly what will be on sale then at least consumers could prepare their finances accordingly "just in case", alas I think that Valve themselves don't know about such details of sales for the games that do not concern their own business (by that I am referring to the games that they themselves published or developed).

How'd I miss Killing Floor for $4.99 and why isn't it that anymore? Bioshock and the Stalkers are incredible deals....

There are some more games I wouldn't mind having but they aren't at the right price to buy them. Mostly games that I have a slight interest in but none that I must have, so they aren't cheap enough.
