Steam Sale: What did you get?

As a non-Steam user all I can say is THESE SALE PRICES ARE FANTASTIC. I'll be installing Steam sometime in the very short term, possibly even later this evening. I'm glad I have a dedicated hard drive just for games - sheesh!

Unfortunately you missed the holiday sales. Steam does have some decent weekend and mid week sales though so it is definitely worth the install.

I bought Torchlight and Trine before I figured out the whole Daily Deal thing. Ended up spending about $8 more than if I'd waited for those to go on sale and Valve was a bunch of little bitches about giving me credit for the price differences. I feel for everyone that bought Serious Sam HD too cause now it's even cheaper than it was during the Holiday Sale.

I was looking at Plants Vs. Zombies and Altitude for $7.50 each but decided to wait for them to drop to $5 or better. Kind of pissed that I missed Fallout 3 GotY for $17.50, I would've jumped on that in a heartbeat.

The cool thing about offline mode and buying single player games is you can do account sharing like on PSN. We should set something up here on AT.

Good luck with that. That'll put your account on the fast track to being banned. Just sayin :hmm:

Defense grid for $2.50 - well worth it.

I love TDs, but when the game first came out, the demo turned me off because you couldn't place towers to "block paths" but I found out you could in later levels. This is the real strategy of tower defense IMO because only being able to choose between types of towers at different locations isn't much strategy.

The game got really hard all of a sudden though D:

Haven't taken the time to even touch any of these games yet due to League of Legends, but one day I will

GTA 4 - $7.50
torchlight - $5
Max Payne 1+2 - $5? 7.5?
stalker:chernobyl - $2

I see steam is offering a L4D & L4D2 bundle of $70. I missed the L4D holiday sale so been waiting to see if they offer a big discount again. Think they will offer a better deal this month? I'am playing FarCry2 now and got Crysis & Crysis Warhead waiting to be played so I got some time before I run out of games.

Defense Grid was definitely an amazing value at $2.50. I don't even like the TD genre that much, but I've spent 20 hours on it so far getting gold medals for each level and I still am only halfway through the challenges. The difficulty scale is also just about perfect - it's relatively easy to beat a stage but progressively harder to do so getting a silver or gold medal. Then it gets really hard and takes on a RTS flair if you're trying to get a high score because you have to let your resources accrue interest and spend only the bare minimum at the last possible second. Lastly, a lot of the achievements are a bit silly but fun (win an advanced stage with only green towers, etc).

Objectively, I would have been perfectly satisfied with Defense Grid if I had paid $20-$30 for it.

STALKER
Defense Grid
Freedom Pack
Dead Space
Mr Robot
Street Fighter IV
Crysis Complete
Trine x2 (gift for a friend)

~$60

Am I the only one that got the Ghost Recon pack? $20 for Ghost Recon, Desert Siege, Island Thunder, GRAW and GRAW2.

Also:
Risk 2 (doesn't work on Win7 x64 🙁 )
ArmA

I got:

Dawn of War 2 - 19.99 $
Osmos - 1.99 $

January 5th I bought Divinity 2 for 44.99 $ (5 $ discount).

Even though I beat the story in GTA IV on 360 I am REALLY enjoying playing it again on PC...

Does the steam version have the same achievements?
