If there's a Mass Effect day I'll probably get 1&2, since my 360 has crapped out.
Is 1 better on PC?
The controls are a bit better -- for example, you can map each of your own powers to a number key (but not your allies) and can switch weapons with the F keys. There are a bunch of performance issues and visual glitches, as it was a port of an Xbox game put together by a different studio than BioWare (Demiurge Studios). alent1234 is right that the Mako controls are a PITA, but I got used to them eventually.
Mass Effect 2 is a bit of a different deal. The controls are changed up -- now you can map both your powers and your squad member's powers to number keys, but switching weapons with F keys is gone. BioWare itself developed ME2 for PC and the 360 at the same time, so performance issues and visual glitches are majorly cut down compared to the first game.
