:) Roger that! That's why I voted for Bush and will vote for him again this year. He's not afraid to do the right thing for America, no matter that he may unpopular for doing it.

Sure, he's got his own agenda; what Politico doesn't? But check out that comment about "Steroids in Pro Sports!" Rock, on, George!

By doing the right thing you mean raping the hell out of our civil liberties and making a mockery of the position of President of the United States by trying to convince an angry post-9/11 constituent body that another country had weapons of mass destruction.... that to this day still haven't been found. Add on top of that his repeated anti-homosexual propaganda, his choice to support a piece of legislation dubbed "SON OF PATRIOT ACT" which in essence just hurts the American people more than it helps and further drives a wedge between the American people and their civil liberties. I'M GLAD HE'S GOT A PAIR ON HIM! LETS ROLL! THESE COLORS DON'T RUN! THE FREEDOM TOWER! FREEDOM FRIES! INSERT PSEDUO-PATRIOTIC BANDWAGON COMMENT HERE.

I won't comment on the homosexual things, b/c my feelings on that are well-know. Enough said on that. Now, AFA your "civil liberties being raped."

In times like, oh, say WAR; we ARE at war, make no mistake about it, sometimes a few small liberties must be sacrificed for the greater good and security of the country.

Personally, I don't mind the extra hour at the airport, taking off my shoes, or showing my ID to the cop on the street. These are all things to protect ME and YOU. You should be grateful, not peeved.

WMD and Iraq...well, we still haven't found any...at least not PUBLICALLY acknowledged. But if you think that Saddam's regime wasn't supporting scum like Osama and his ilk, you're mistaken.

Most Arabs in that part of the world all hate each other; they've been blowing each other up for decades. But you know what their common thread is? They all hate one thing even more than they hate each other; America and freedom. We're acting now so that our children don't have to go thru what we went thru on 9/11 and our Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen are doing now.

Yes, I'm waving the flag. And I'm proud to do it.

The rest of her plastic face is frozen in place. Good Lord, she can hardly blink! And did you hear her dentures clatter while she was going on about the USA being in the war all alone?

Hahahaha!!

She looked like a deer staring into the oncoming headlights of a HUMVEE.

1) We are not at war. The term war has been infused into your mind most likely by Bush's constant "WAR ON TERROR" or whatever ridiculous moniker he's giving to justify invasion of another country. If you recall the War Powers Act there hasn't been a legal war since World War II ended.

2) There is NO time in history that I should be grateful that I am losing my freedoms. NONE. If you accept this as a consequence of the times then you don't deserve to have them and further more need to really read up on what made this country what it is.

3) WMD.. yeah you have nothing so stop trying to justify it.

4) "Arabs all hate each other" wow I really can't compete with your superior logic

"so our children won't have to go through what we went through..." LOL.

First off, your arguments hold more weight if you take the time to actually spell words out.

Second, if you think a country this large and this free can be secured against terrorist acts you're naive. Even if they take away all of our civil liberties (which is a work in progress as we speak) we're still not guaranteed any safety. Just thought you should know.

There are more problems with your "reasoning" in that post but I just finished a run and I don't have the energy. *sigh*

WMD and Iraq...well, we still haven't found any...at least not PUBLICALLY acknowledged.
Do you honestly think the Bush administration would keep found WMD a secret? Hell no! It would secure a spot in the White House for Repblicans for years to come, and it would validate the invasion of Iraq. The WMD have not been found. Period. And after 9 months of searching Iraq for them, I'll honestly be surprised if they're ever found.

If by "small liberties" you mean giving the government the right to hold American citizens without bail and without charges for indefinite amounts of time, then you're giving the government lots of leeway. The Writ of Habeas Corpus is only to be suspended in times of war or when national security precludes such a liberty. There is no war going on in the United States right now. We are fighting a non-declared war on a general concept, not on a country that has proven to be a threat to our way of life. And for such a general, non-substantiated threat, I personally think it's a travesty that our government has chosen to rescind one of our most basic rights - the right to a Writ of Habeas Corpus.

Oh, and given the amount of scrutiny we've given Iraq's financial records and institutions, don't you think a money trail to Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda would be obvious by now? I haven't seen any evidence of such a connection and don't believe there is one.

You and I have a right to know what we're jailed for.

I believe that the Korea war was 'legal' since technically we are still at war with South Korea, just we have had a cease fire agreement for the past fifty years.
I am pretty sure that the Persian Gulf war of '91 was a legit war; supported by Congress, and the UN. There is the arguement that the current action in Iraq is actually a continuation of that war due to the cease fire agreement not being followed on the part of Hussein and pals. So essentially the war is still on.

1. Where did I say that this country can be totally secured against terrorism? I didn't. I know it's impossible, thank you. But there's a big diff b/t TRYING and doing NOTHING but sitting back and whining about it.

2. If you can't figure out "what we went thru on 9/11" then you've got slightly less intelligence than a dead houseplant. Sorry, can't help you there.

3. These are all my thoughts and my opinions. :) You don't have to agree with them, but thanks for taking the time to read, reflect and respond.

The Persian Gulf War was not a declared war. If you remember, President Bush gave a special address to Congress to explain and describe his reasons for taking military action in Iraq, as the War Powers Act stipulates he must. Supported by Congress is one thing, but declaring war is another.

We are not, nor have we ever, been at war with South Korea. We fought North Korea during the Korean 'War,' and I'm actually not sure if we ever drew up a peace treaty with them.

War, huh? What war? The "war" on drugs? Or the "war" on terror? If there is a war, it is because the United States bombed and invaded another country (Iraq) without clear provocation. There is NO evidence that I've seen to suggest Saddam & Osama were in league with each in planning 9/11.

As far as Arabs hating the US - I agree. Part of that might be because of the freedoms we enjoy. But I suspect a bigger part of that is because of our meddling in the middle east in the last 3-4 decades, causing political unrest, putting and/or encouraging dictators to rise to power, and training the very people who we now call "terrorists". We were happy to train the Al Qaeda when they & Iraq were on our side fighting Iran 20-30 years ago. Now our "pet projects' are coming back to bite us in the ass! It's one thing for allegiances to change and things to backfire - hey, sh!t happens. It's quite another thing to act like the US is in no way whatsoever responsible for what's going on in the middle east and is just some innocent, bystander in the whole affair.

And you can suggest that my stance is 'unpatriotic" because I'm not all for more guns & killing the "terrorists", but I prefer to believe it is my patriotic duty to support the FREEDOMS that so many men & women have died to protect. I don't want those men & women turning over in their battlefield graves because we let our freedoms get taken away in the name of "homeland security" and "war on terror".

Don't some of you remember President Clinton bombing Afghanistan fighting Al Qaeda (or at least trying to)?

This isn't a President Bush situation.

Terrorism isn't a President Bush ordeal (either President Bush for that matter).

Arabs all hate each other.

*sigh*

Where did I say that I don't know what we went through on 9/11? I laughed at your idea that we can ever fully protect our children from having to go through the same type of thing. Big difference.

You're a Liberal and I'm a Republican..so be it.

I argue where it MATTERS; with my VOTE. I know you'll do the same; it is what makes this country the greatest in the world.

I know this comment wasn't directed at me (just people who apparently hold similar viewpoints), but I did want to say your last line there is one point I completely & whole-heartedly agree with. God bless the USA!:D

Draknor: And you can suggest that my stance is 'unpatriotic" because I'm not all for more guns & killing the "terrorists", but I prefer to believe it is my patriotic duty to support the FREEDOMS that so many men & women have died to protect. I don't want those men & women turning over in their battlefield graves because we let our freedoms get taken away in the name of "homeland security" and "war on terror".

I agree with that 100%! It never fails that whenever any government official wants to take away our right and freedoms, they first try to convince us that it is for our own good. I am sooooo against the Patriot Act. I mean who in the world do they think they are kidding? I mean anyone who can read and knows our Constitution should Scream Bloody Murder over the Patriot Act.

:)

There's alot of things that those of us who have read and know our Constitution scream bloody murder over. The Patriot Act is merely the latest in a long list.

But the PTB have done a frighteningly good job on snowing a lot of otherwise clever ppl that it is good for the country.

War, huh?

You have made so many wrong statements in your reply that is is laughable.

Are you really that misinformed or just stupid?

I will admit I do not know the full historical details of the statements I made; however, I made them based on what information I have heard / read / seen and believed. If you can refute any of them with factual sources, I would be more than happy to learn.
