and I am entirely cool with that because I know if asked the Supreme Court picks question you’d pick Bloomberg over The President without hesitation. Because you get it, winning and getting some of what you want is far better than losing and getting nothing

What reason do you have to believe that Bloomberg's picks would be better than Trump's? I get that argument with Buttigieg and Biden, but Bloomberg is absolutely vile.

He is pro gun control, pro abortion and has not proven to be completely incompetent.
I forgot your answer, as of right now the choice is President Trump appoints the next 2-3 justices or Bloomberg appoints the next 2-3 justices which do you choose.
Need to make an either or choice. No third option.

Let's see. On one side, we have Trump, a bower to Zionism and puts Israel first. On the other side, we have Bloomberg, a Zionist. Do you think he will do anything but put Israel first? Honestly, do you lemmings think Bloomberg will result in anything different than what you are already getting? Hyperbole aside.

Do we have evidence he would?
Also one is completely incompetent and basically running a crime family the other is not.

NGL, at this point in time I could give two shits about Isreal. Far more concerned about what's going on right here in my own country.

I already addressed that in multiple posts previously in this thread, summarized as "of course so."
So far all the Bernie folks can say is "but yeah, will he tho?"

So perhaps you take the turn of explaining why and how Mike could plausibly get conservative appointed to the SC, even generously assuming that he was inclined to want to do that in the first place.

Otherwise it's just being conspiratorial and thoughtlessly hysterical about a possiblity that has no potential to exist in reality.

Bloomberg asks other candidates to drop out.

Mike Bloomberg's campaign is sounding the alarm that Bernie Sanders will soon amass an unsurmountable delegate lead if the Democratic field stays split — and took the extraordinary step of suggesting laggards should drop out. "
"

Wow color me shocked that Bloomberg is concerned only with stopping Sanders.

I see the narrative for some is Bloomberg = Trump --- Trump = Bloomberg. When there are clearly major differences in the two men. I can see already that feels and disinformation giving us four more years of Trump.

If the choice is between a fast food burger or a shit sandwich, I'm going to choose the fast food burger rather than throwing a fit because steak wasn't on the menu.

There are clearly differences between the two.

But Bloomberg is a classic republican and Trump is a ....well, not at all republican.

neither of them are liberal, progressive democrats.

It's one thing to choose Bloomberg over Trump, but quite another to choose Bloomberg over one of the remaining Democratic hopefuls. As a choice among the current Democratic hopefuls, he is the most Trumpian and the most Republican. Choosing him moves the Democratic Party to the Right of Reagan. If he truly wanted to do the courageous thing, he'd run as a Republican or as an Independent Conservative.

Defeating Trump really isn't his main goal though, it is defeating Bernie. He wants to maintain the Reagan era by shutting out the Left from the Democratic Party, at least more so than it has already been. This would result in a rejection of the growing young Democratic Base whose ideologically aligned with more Traditional Democratic sensibilities.

The important choice right now is in what you want the Democratic Party to be. Do you want it to be Traditionally Republican? Traditionally Democrat? Not Trump?

1) Why not just be a Republican then?
2) Then choose based upon who reflects those principles and not on some notion of "Electibility". aka, have the nads to stand for something.
3) This is the stupid choice.

People want to choose someone who has a Vision of where they want to lead the nation. Biden is failing because he did not offer this. Bernie is succeeding because he does offer this. Bloomberg is still somewhat an unknown factor, so far he has risen on the back of the most massive propaganda campaigns in history, but that could change quickly once he hits the debate stage and others begin responding to his campaign.

Republican running as democrat warns others to drop out or else European socialism will take over!

Where are my clutching pearls?

I'd find the spectacle of Bloomberg vs Trump to be deeply depressing. Bloomberg makes Biden look like a symbol of hope and change.

Seems a bad idea to respond to the Republicans moving to the far right, to start following them, thus shifting the centre ever further right-ward. You Dems have been doing that for decades and where has it got you?

I hope all the Bernie people who won't vote for Bloomberg because he is a "Republican" enjoy all the immigrants and DACA recipients being deported under Trump's second term. All those people would probably be pretty happy with Bloomie.
It's extreme privilege showing when people make claims that they won't support the D nominee if the primaries don't go their way. All you people who would cut off your nose to spite your face seem to be lacking any empathy for the more vulnerable in society who will absolutely suffer under another 4 years of Trump.

Anyone running as a democrat who is then seated in the White House and appoints conservatives to the SCOTUS would have little support for re-election. Whatever Bloomberg's actual ideological leanings, he'll likely nominate whoever any other dem would nominate.

He cares about gun control because he's authoritarian, I don't believe he gives two shits about abortion rights. You know he literally told one of his pregnant employees to kill her baby, right?

The so called progressive media is no help. Hell they have never Trumper pundits on MSNBC telling us how people don't want Sanders socialist agenda (Schmidt), and Bloomberg is the answer. F them.

Edit:
Nice background on Schmidt's hypocrisy.

This is one of the most disingenuous talking points. It's especially appropriate that it's being used in a Mike Bloomberg thread, considering Bloomberg would incinerate poor people to heat his home if he could.

Yeah I read that, gonna sound weird but I’ve worked in industries where the women act basically like men. I suspect this is common in the financial field. Not that it’s right but I can certainly get over it.

He has pledged to give minimum 50% of his wealth away.

But equally one could argue it is extreme privilege showing when people claim that those struggling should settle for a Republican plutocrat moving the Democrats even further rightward, and surrendering even more to the plutocrat class, just because said plutocrat is culturally a bit more acceptable to them and doesn't embarrass them by being as uncouth as Trump. Notwithstanding all the damage such a move would do to the more vulnerable in society (both in immediate effects, and in regard to the backlash it will produce longer-term leading to even worse Trumpery).

Meh, I've had _exactly_ the same discussion with Labour party members about the likes of Blair. I don't deny it's a tricky issue. We live in extremely polarised times, and not just between two sides of 'left' and 'right'.

But it seems to me that constantly surrendering, compromising, settling, and triangulating just got us to where we are. Not convinced the solution is more of the same.

Of course you can, just like Trump's supporters can excuse away all his shit with "locker room talk" talking points. I wonder how much racist, misogynistic behavior it would take before you couldn't "get over it".
