I'm officially out. Grace period expired a few days ago. Time to go find something more interesting to do.

Why don't you go find your way into SW:TOR beta and report back to us :D

That is.. if you're not already in it ;)

At first I hated the ground missions as they seemed clumsy and simple. Now that i understand a bit more of the tactics involved it is becoming a real fun aspect of the game. For some reason I get a real kick out of using a disrupter.

It is going to be a tough deciding how many points to allocate to ground abilities vs flight combat.

Couple tricks I've learned to make ground stuff easier; ability 1 for all weapons is standard attack while ability two is strong attack with c/d and possible secondary effect. You want to have some (or most) of your squad use expose weapons and keep an exploit on yourself. If you hit someone with an exploit effect while they are exposed you really take the HP down (generally 1 shot kill in lower levels). Now the one problem here is that if you give all or most of your peeps expose weapons at the low levels, their general damage will be something just north of a spitball unless they are able to trigger the exposed effect or you often enough. To help make up for this, I keep a couple of them with exploit and maintain an exploit and expose on myself (use Z key to swap weapon). I generally walk into a fight with exposed selected, use secondary fire then swap weapons, after a couple seconds of fire if no one has been exposed I use my exploit as a standard high damage attack then switch to the expose to use that secondary ability again repeating the cycle. Main thing here is that you want to be careful and keep your exploit c/d up as much as possible to nail someone who gets exposed with the big one.

Haven't heard hide nor hair about beta information (other than the sign up early last year). Honestly this and Jumpgate Evolution are pretty much the two that I'd like to try out.

Fixed some text bugs with the Klingon daily PvP missions
Fixed the number of Klingon PvP missions required at each rank to be 3 per rank
Made all repeatable Star Cluster missions have a 30 minute cooldown from start of mission instead of from turn in.

I don't see anything in the patch notes about fixing the ground power bar issues.

Nothing about fixing the borked Borg War Engagement either. It looks like it would be pretty fun if you didn't have to deal with mobs that could shoot you but you couldn't shoot back (stuck in objects) and idiots who don't know that Hub != Hulk and the fact that you don't get credit for completing it.

Besides that, they REALLY need to fix the "enemies stuck in walls" thing.

Really enjoying this game, the fed side is polished and has a very good player progression feel. Klingon sucks......wait times are horrible in the house battles and the lack of pve content makes the lower levels boring as hell.....

Hmm that isn't a continuation or part of the old dev team that did Star Wars Galaxies is it? I mean I see it's BioWare, but I just remember the SWG beta being very crappy.

I see that SWG is still going, I wouldn't have thought a competing MMO would be able to come out.

Greetings!

The team has been hard at work not only adding new content to the game, but addressing the bugs you are reporting.

We are increasing our presence in the forums to ensure that the team is aware of issues you are having. Please continue to report the bugs that you find.

edit: We are taking advantage of the unscheduled downtime to push this new update now instead of the previously scheduled 3am update.

Release Notes

Fixed a crash that was happening often on high traffic social maps like Earth Space Dock.
Made some improvements to ease lag during peak play times. We will continue to monitor and are working on additional performance increases.
It has been very difficult to find rare anomalies in Star Clusters. We have put in a fix to ensure that all anomalies have a better chance of being scanned and discovered. This should also help improve Memory Alpha trade.
Lower level repeatable missions no longer show on your remote contact options unless you are in the area where they take place. For example, if you are in Cardassian space, you will no longer see Grall in your remote contacts asking you if you want to explore Delta Volanis.
Crystalline Entity is no longer located at sector XXX, system YYY. We now tell you the proper sector block to find the Fleet Action in.
There was a UI bug with the Science Bridge Officer power “Dampening Field I” in the skills window. Based on the skills UI, it looked like the skill had been incorrectly training into the Commander-rank slot instead of the LT commander slot. If this has happened to you, it appeared that you lost two powers. We hope to fix this when you log in so that you will see that Dampening Field I is now in your LT Commander slot, and your prior Command power is still there. As Dampening Field I was intended to be a Commander power, we are working on another version which will be the correct Commander power which will be introduced into the game in a future patch, and at that time we’ll remove the LT Commander version from the power store.
Some players had acquired ships that were not slotting properly as ships and showing up as bridge officers instead. A fix has been put in that will fix these characters up when they log in.
Pre-order bonus TOS Federation uniforms now come with skirt options.
Added missing files to improve French and German translations of game text.
The Borg were showing up in the B’Tran Star Cluster in missions they should not have had access to, which lead to un-Borg like mission text and behaviors. If you do encounter the Borg in this Star Cluster, the mission will be more appropriate.
Auto-teaming was not working properly in some sectors. We’ve addressed this issue so that auto-teaming should now function across all sectors.
Some players were not getting credit for defeating the Doomsday Machine in the Imaga System. This mission has been updated so that all players should have credit for completing the mission regardless of whether they closed the last mission dialog box or not.
Two new Video Options were added in the prior patch to help deal with overheating issues: Limit Frame Rate and Reduce CPU/GPU Usage. These are available under Options | Video | Advanced | Troubleshooting.
Frame Rate defaults are now limited to 60fps.
Also released in the last patch, players who had purchased Pre-Order costume bonuses may now apply those bonus costumes to their bridge officers.
Ramming Speed was updated to cap modifiers based on speed of ramming ship. We also improved the damage formula to use the smaller vessel's HP as the base, modified by speed and size ratio between both ships involved. In general, ramming similar or smaller sized ships can be tactically beneficial, ramming larger ships becomes a self-sacrificing last resort.
Emergency Power to Engines - When used in a specific sequence with Evasive Maneuvers, the speed modifier from this ability was improperly applied so that it was multiplied by Evasive Maneuvers. It should no longer matter which order you use these two abilities in - they will stack, but not multiply.

Another maintenance today at prime time Europe time... 2 hours booked out, 2 1/2 hours and still going.

I don't mind it but they had no information up about it when i went to bed last night so I had only a few hours notice.

Cmdr. Grade 7... Loving 2 Dual Tetryon Beam Bank Mk VI's fore alongside a Quantum Torpedo Mk VI and packing 2 Phaser Beam Array Mk VI's and 1 Tetryon Beam Array Mk VI at the rear. Technically this means i have a 10 degree blindspot on each side of my ship but I have as of yet found no cause for concern.

The idea is that the Quantum Torpedo autofires and the Tetryon Dual Beams slice open the front Shielding. On lesser craft, the Quantum ends up hitting hull plating. With Battleships, the beam banks and quantum soften it up, a raking of high energy beam damage from my Aft section and it's ready for it's second HYT II salvo.

There are some extremely good missions in the game. The story seems to flow nicely though in my opinion it suffers from a lack of voiceovers. Lenoard Nimoy does his usual best at presenting some one-time voiceovers but these are few and far between.

So far I have faced the Gorn, Orions, Romulans, Hirogen, Klingon, Remans, The Borg and the Urdine (Species 8472). Each species has their own little foibles which makes them different and interesting during the first few encounters.

Good fun and I cannot wait for my Tier 4 Cruiser... which I hoped would come today.

One thing which makes me smile is the diversity of Bridge Officer skills and abilities for your Captain. Although a few skills are used very often, there is a variety of skills which will have you wondering over.... Polarise Hull Vs. Hazard Emitters etc.

They mail it? :)

No, I just had a spare day to rattle through some grades and hoped to reach Tier 4 (Captain) so I could pick up my Tier 4 Cruiser :)

Hell, it's never turn up... Cruisers just can't turn.

Will do. I am not convinced that many of the ships in STO look good. Even the Defiant class looks a bit shoddy. It may not be fair to compare the STO Defiant to the DS9 Defiant as the one in the DS9 series was a one off, a special Defiant (Aft Torpedo launcher, Cloaking device and all that).

I have found once I hit about Grade 7 or 8 of a Tier, it starts to get difficult.

Everything on my Heavy Cruiser (T3) is Uncommon Mk VI or more than satisfactory for the job at hand. I am running some of the best skills available (Tactical Team I, High Yield Torpedo II, Science Team I, Science Team II, Emergency Power to Weapons I, Emergency Power to Shields I, Reverse Shield Polarity I, Extend Shields II) and yet I am starting to struggle a little.

Recent changes I have made were to remove the two RCS Accelerator Mk IV's I had (2x 15% Turn Rate) and replaced them with 2x Ablative Hull Plating Mk VI (Uncommon) and my effectiveness has seemed to plummet in amongst the last couple of grades. Not sure whether my effectiveness is directly related to this change because really I am getting off my HYT's the same and everything else.

Transphasic Torpedos unlock at Tier 4 so I am probably going to run 2 Transphasic Torpedos with 2 Tetryon Beam Arrays fore and 1 Tetryon Beam Array and 2 Phaser Beam Arrays aft in my Tier 4 Cruiser. The other details will have to wait until I finally get into the game and check out the slots available to me :)

from what i've read you'll lose some of your damage capability with a slight increase in survivability.

Is there an AT guild?

I'm about to give up on the game already because of the pure lack of any kind of community whatsoever. That and Klingon's are outnumbered 50-1

I think 99% of the playerbase are chinese nobody speaks a single word... EVER.

Sadly I rolled before reading your post :( I read some posts in the official forum where some players had success going that route, but they didn't go very in-depth. I guess I'll use the first slot to experiment with. Thanks for the feedback.

I'm talking about actual groups. Anytime you end up in one, or you do PVP. Not a single soul will speak or reply to anything you say.

Honestly, until they fix PVP i cannot play this absurd piece of shit game.

I'm tired of joining the queue and ending up in a game half way over with 5 klingons and JUST me.. nobody else on fed. Or joining an arena only to have NO klingons in it! AT ALL!

PVP is soo fuckin broken in this game its amazing. Fuck Cryptic.

A group of shit-eating monkeys could make a better game.

And people wonder why I say PvP should not exist in PvE-centric games. All it does is serve to ruin game balance for PvE.
