So that is not the AMX-1 repair droid?
And don't talk down to me about being patient. I've been waiting patiently longer than most.

What part of 'fan-based' video do you not understand? Brigant70 (Star Citizen Backer like yourself) created that YouTube video... not CIG... *shakes head but in confusion this time*

Perhaps but not longer than me. The last time I played a Wing Commander / Privateer PC game was 1996. I can wait a few more years. I suggest you call CIG and ask for your $$ back or sell your account on eBay for a profit. Accounts like yours are going for a premium right now. Problem fixed.

Its quite obvious, at least to me, that the droid in question is WALL-E. We have no idea what the AMX-1 will look like but if I had to hazard a guess it won't be disney animated film style.

Yes I realize that. I was being facetious about the Walle-e comment but what about the stretch goals? It was a $750,000 goal and we blew threw that along time ago but still no AMX.
I didn't mean to get anyone's back up about it. Its just a question that has been lingering in the back of my mind.

The scale of this game is MASSIVE and DWARFS Elite Dangerous in its current form or anything that has been done since. I hope that helps... going to take 2 or 3 more years to be playable in a 'retail' form that Chris Roberts will be content with.

I don't think we will see the repair bot before more rooms are added to the hangar, possibly when the planetside stuff starts coming out with persistence.

To be honest, it will come out whenever a 3D artist has a light schedule for a week. It is hard to say when that will happen with there being plenty of things being made still (ships, ship components, component damage states, everyday objects, maps/environments/cities, etc.).

About mid January, there was an episode of Around the 'Verse where Sandi and Ben both addressed the stretch goal awards. They said information would be released 'soon' as to the development and deployment of all stretch goal items.

Sandi closed by saying something cute like "good...I want my space pet darnit!"

So I believe CIG is well aware of people's impatience over these things and, at least, plans to give us info to set our expectations.

Personally, I'd rather they focus on bigger issues (like ship/input device/weapons balancing), but they hear our cries over the little things too. Which is amazing/awesome.

Speaking of balancing, this week's AtV had some info addressing those issues. Ben says they are aware of the chatter and concern in the forums and are addressing those issues. Then they did a segment with a dev in Santa Monica on balancing and all he addressed was weapon balancing. That was disappointing to me as weapon balancing is a minor issue in comparison to input device and ship balancing. Was really hoping to hear how they were going to address the input device balancing/issues. To me, that's the single biggest weakness in SC right now. Stats clearly show that k/m > HOTAS/HOJAM/Flight Stick > Controller. Are they going to balance that? If so, how?

Man just tell me so I know what to expect. Personally I want to use my new Thrustmaster 16000 for immersion reasons. And I'm ok if that's not balanced with k/m (just tell me). But right now HOJAM is a mess and doesn't work well at all (per various posts in the forums).

Yeah, I need patience too......

but everything in the game can and will be earned through... mining... bounty hunting... working for missions for the federation... pirating... discovering artifacts... among other ways still being debated among the Developers and the Backers.

Don't forget basic transportation services. I'm gonna be a space truck driver. There's even talk of trash hauling as a career in SC....as well as the space equivalent to tow truck drivers.

I know most people want to pew pew, so I'm curious to see how some of the less glamorous careers unfold.

My biggest concern there is that they're going to overbalance and try to normalize the ships (if they're listening to the community).

There is so much "Oh noes...my flyweight racing ship keeps getting shot down by Super Hornets! Not fair! Moar balance!!" going on in the forums. I hope that they don't cave to these types. There needs to be legitimate compromises in what type of ship you decide to fly. SC is not a combat sim. Every available ship does not need to be able to go toe-to-toe with a Super Hornet.

I completely agree. I get pissed when I see people flying Auroras (like me) bitching about being cannon fodder for a Super Hornet. That is supposed to happen! Don't want to be cannon fodder? Then: a) become a better pilot and know your ship's strengths and weaknesses or b) get a better combat ship

I have no experience with MMOs. Until SC, I've never played a MP game. So this may be an inaccurate statement but it seems like the SC community (judging by the forums) is filled with whiny kids who: a) want everything equal, b) want something for everything they do, c) don't understand the concept of risk vs reward.

It's a bit frustrating to venture over to those RSI forums....

Your assessment is pretty much spot-on, and it's one reason why I have gotten away from MP over the years and much prefer a good SP campaign.

People have gone nuts with equality in gaming, and want a back pat / reward for EVERYTHING. That doesn't seem to be the point of SC at all, and I hope it stays that way.

It would be really frustrating for me if I were a developer to read half the whiny kiddy stuff I see on those forums, because I would want to jump in and and start yelling "Please leave. This game is not space COD."

I own 2 Reclaimers (LTI). Out of all my 'sexier' ships like the 890 Jump.... Im most excited about salvaging.

Most of those careers probably wont matter day to day since NPCs will be running 90% of the 'controlled' area from Earth not to mention the aliens taking care of their own developing areas. Id be surprised if CR wants the aliens to be static.

If players as a whole are not interested in the more mundane/less glamerous profit making opportunities.... NPCs will fill the gap.

Aurora will kick the SHIT out of a Super Hornet EVERY time when it comes to trading. ;)

In case anyone missed it, you can try out a Cutlass Black for the next week (and the Cutlass Blue is back on sale for a limited time).

Looking forward to trying one out. It's a really sweet looking ship in my opinion.

Nooooooo my wallet. I've been contemplating getting one and the joy of flying one might be too much temptation.

Nothing stopping you from getting one in-game after release. It'll be MUCH cheaper too, and not cost real money. :)

I'm honestly kinda worried I won't be able to users tad all of the game. Remembering how to mine, fight, scrap, explore, repair, race, transfer data, etc? Also, I'm worried about the game being more like a bunch of mini-games than one coherent game.

That's a good problem to have. It means the game is very in-depth and detailed.

I just want a good solid space shooter sim, sadly it's turning into something completely different.

One man's "sadly" is another man's "thank God."

If this was just a space shooter, I would have absolutely no interest. That being said, the space-shooter component of the game seems to really good, so I don't see any reason to worry if that's the role you want to play.

I'm confident. Chris Roberts has not been shy about tacitly defying the community to date. We saw a lot of outcry when the whole "zone" information came out (safe, controlled UEE space, lawless outer rim, etc), combined with the whole PVP vs PVE debate from people who bought Idrises. A lot of them thought that their massive investment had just bought them an insta-win, and boy were they pissed to learn that they couldn't just fly around and kick ass wherever they wanted to. Last I checked nothing has changed in that regard.
